Magherbin has enganged in an article content dispute with me on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yusuf_bin_Ahmad_al-Kawneyn
I've provided my sources and you can read for yourself but he's conflating this person from a Moroccan one. I'm a new user following the rules and it stated ask for the administers help when you're being violated on Wikipedia. It would be really helpful if you can warn and stop him for getting into a disruptive editing. Thank you.
Yours sincerely from Datch71s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Datch71s (talk • contribs) 20:16, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Datch71s:, Magherbin has been given exactly the same warning that I gave you. I expect both of you to discuss the issue and not to continue edit-warring. Any more and the transgressor(s) will be blocked regardless of the merits of their edits. Talk pages exist for a number of reasons - content disputes being one of them. Nthep (talk) 20:23, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- Other users like Aqooni have refuted him and provided multiple sources while all he did was talk baseless without providing a single evidence and yet he chooses to delete the sources we have provided. He's most likely a troll when you read this sir. Have a look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Yusuf_bin_Ahmad_al-Kawneyn

- I know nothing about this topic and I am not going to intervene or offer any opinion about what is the correct definition. I really don't care who is wrong or right but I am bothered about both your behaviours and I won't hold back on stopping an edit war if either of you continue the cycle of reverting each others edits. Nthep (talk) 21:42, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- I was just upholding the previous consensus [1], it was fairly agreed upon that we cant say definitely that the subject is of a specific background. Magherbin (talk) 15:23, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
- Fine but please take it to the talk page and not edit war. Nthep (talk) 15:27, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
- This user cant participate because of sanctions [2]. Do I have leeway to restore the prior edits? Magherbin (talk) 13:53, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Magherbin: IMO yes but as there have been intervening edits you will have to do it by hand and not simply undo. Make sure your edit summary includes that you are restoring previous consensus (assuming you are) and undoing edit(s) of now blocked sock-puppet edit. Nthep (talk) 13:58, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Hanley
Hello I noticed you deleted the image provided for Hanley station. May I ask why you did this as it is the correct location and the photo is valid?
Kind regards

- @JoshuaIsTheFalco: I keep leaving you the link to read in the edit summary but I'll paste the appropriate bit here
Lead images should be natural and appropriate representations of the topic; they should not only illustrate the topic specifically, but also be the type of image used for similar purposes in high-quality reference works, and therefore what our readers will expect to see. Lead images are not required, and not having a lead image may be the best solution if there is no easy representation of the topic
(WP:LEADIMAGE). A picture of a hotel car park where a station used to be and every bit of the station building has been obliterated and the area levelled does not assist the reader in helping to understand the topic of Hanley railway station. It may be appropriate to illustrate the development of the site post-closure but as the lead image in the infobox it is not appropriate. Nthep (talk) 22:19, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you.
You did the right thing. I had problems with my computers while editing the article, now resolved. Hope to do a good work on Francis Obi Okoye page. Odurukwe (talk) 17:06, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
Lockpath
Hi, I'm wanting to update the Lockpath page with correct infromation since most is out of date. Thanks, ginacarabetta — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ginacarabetta (talk • contribs)
- @Ginacarabetta: that's fine but not by copying content from the company's website. Please read policies like WP:SOURCES and WP:COPYPASTE and generate content from sources that are independent of the company. Nthep (talk) 17:08, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, It won't let me update the offical title to a lowercase p to spell Lockpath, Inc., how do I do this and why can't I add more awards that Lockpath has achieved? There's a section for it and it's always denied. Ginacarabetta
- @Ntherp why can't I update the company logo? It won't let me update the offical title to a lowercase p to spell Lockpath, Inc., how do I do this and why can't I add more awards that Lockpath has achieved? There's a section for it and it's always denied. Ginacarabetta
- The page will need to be moved to Lockpath if the lowercase 'p' is the correct spelling. As for awards be certain they are really notable and not irrelevant, non-notable industry awards like some of the stuff on their website. Remember this is an encylopedia piece not an advert for the company so any bigging up of the company needs to be avoided. I have to say that the whole section on Applications reads like a catalogue rather than imparting any genuinely useful information about the company. The logo you will have to upload a new version.
- Please remember to sign your talk pages posts with 4 tildes ~~~~ so people know who is writing. Nthep (talk) 17:28, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Ntherp I keep trying to put in the logo but it won't upload it. Do I need to give it to you? Ginacarabetta (talk) 17:31, 14 January 2019 (UTC)ginacarabetta
- I don't see any difference between the version that is on the article and the one of the company's website, why is a new one needed. Nthep (talk) 18:12, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Ntherp that page is no longer associated with our website. This is the updated website page. https://lockpath.com/. As you can see the logo has been updated. The updated link to our page is also something that I was not able to change. Ginacarabetta (talk) 18:33, 14 January 2019 (UTC)ginacarabetta
- As the file page I linked to is through the menu structure at lockpath.com I suggest there are more pressing matters to be addressed than updating the Wikipedia page; and you need to deal, urgently, with my last message on your talk page. Nthep (talk) 18:41, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

@Nthep, I understand but I am putting in factial information, just like many other companies on Wikipedia and it keeps getting removed. For example the accolades. ginacarabetta
Reporting a recidivist vandal
The user behind 190.232.12.21 has been blocked three times, most recently by you, due to vandalism. Since their last block expiration, the user has shown the same behaviour, particulary by persistently changing the brackets of the U-17 and U-20 FIFA World Cups of 2015 and 2017. Administrators' newsletter – February 2019
News and updates for administrators from the past month (January 2019).
Interface administrator changes
- A request for comment is currently open to reevaluate the activity requirements for administrators.
- Administrators who are blocked have the technical ability to block the administrator who blocked their own account. A recent request for comment has amended the blocking policy to clarify that this ability should only be used in exceptional circumstances, such as account compromises, where there is a clear and immediate need.
- A request for comment closed with a consensus in favor of deprecating The Sun as a permissible reference, and creating an edit filter to warn users who attempt to cite it.
- A discussion regarding an overhaul of the format and appearance of Wikipedia:Requests for page protection is in progress (permalink). The proposed changes will make it easier to create requests for those who are not using Twinkle. The workflow for administrators at this venue will largely be unchanged. Additionally, there are plans to archive requests similar to how it is done at WP:PERM, where historical records are kept so that prior requests can more easily be searched for.
- Voting in the 2019 Steward elections will begin on 08 February 2019, 14:00 (UTC) and end on 28 February 2019, 13:59 (UTC). The confirmation process of current stewards is being held in parallel. You can automatically check your eligibility to vote.
- A new IRC bot is available that allows you to subscribe to notifications when specific filters are tripped. This requires that your IRC handle be identified.

Please can you help me!
Hi, I think you edited the tables on my page RFL President's Cup - I've noticed on some of the previous seasons that it says UK Armed Forces (when they were called GB Armed Forces - ie. 2014, 2015 and 2016) and also for the women's students team it should be "England Students" rather than "GB" for the 2014, 2015, 2016 season. Obviously I'm happy to make those changes, but I can't fathom how to do it as there seems to be some sort of template there instead? Similarly, how do I update the table once the season starts for 2019? Thanks. Feederdave (talk) 16:48, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Feederdave:, the names are sorted. As for updating the table, it's fairly intuitive when you look at it. After each round of matches you need to update the following sections
<!--Update team positions here-->
Just place the four team initials in the order they need to appear in the table so|team1=
is the leaders,|team2=
is second etc- the source i.e. where online the table can be seen and the update date - this is the date the matches were most recently played on so after the first round it should be
|update=10 April 2019
- As for the rest each team has a line to record wins, (win_XXX), losses (loss_XXX), draws (draw_XXX), total points scored (gf_XXX) and total points conceded (ga_XXX) just change the zeroes to the actual numbers.
- So if the Police beat the Armed Forces 26–12 and the Students beat the Teachers 56–4 then (changes required marked in bold)
{{#invoke:Sports table|main|style=WDL
|for_against_style=points
|winpoints=2
|start_date=10 April 2019
<!--Update team positions here-->
|team1=UNI |team2=POL |team3=FOR |team4=TEA
<!--Update team results here and then (if needed) positions above. Don't forget to update the date (update parameter).-->
|source= [www.example.com]<!-- add source, if web include in single brackets [ ] -->
|update=10 April 2019<!-- don't forget to update this field each time-->
|win_UNI=1 |draw_UNI=0 |loss_UNI=0 |gf_UNI=56 |ga_UNI=4 |name_UNI=England Universities <!-- England Universities -->
|win_POL=1 |draw_POL=0 |loss_POL=0 |gf_POL=26 |ga_POL=12 |name_POL=Great Britain Police <!-- Great Britain Police -->
|win_TEA=0 |draw_TEA=0 |loss_TEA=1 |gf_TEA=4 |ga_TEA=56 |name_TEA=Great Britain Teachers <!-- Great Britain Teachers -->
|win_FOR=0 |draw_FOR=0 |loss_FOR=1 |gf_FOR=12 |ga_FOR=26 |name_FOR=UK Armed Forces <!--UK Armed Forces -->

Expired copyright
This is very confusing and frustrating for a newbie. Things get taken down with no mention as to how to fix the problem. Questions: If the copright for the movie has expired, how does one prove the poster image has likewise expired? At some point is the burden on others to show a poster associated with the films release is still copyrighted? Regardless, if the film has expired, does that mean any captured screenshot from the movie is fair game? That seems like a logical conclusion, but I thought I would ask first. I appreciate your assistance, thank you.Nicholas Nastrusnic (talk) 21:08, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- answered at your talk page. Nthep (talk) 21:28, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I will try to find time to do that in the future, and hopefully choose the correct tag so the bots or others don't take it down. I saw a tag for expired copyrights due to age, but not losses due to not filing. Thanks again.Nicholas Nastrusnic (talk) 21:45, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Nicholas Nastrusnic: If the poster copyright expired at the same time as the film then the template to use for the licence is {{PD-US-not renewed}}. Nthep (talk) 21:56, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Headings & Subheadings
Another newbie question if I may. I noticed you changed the font on the subheadings. Does that have to be done under Wikipedia rules, or is it preference? I for one have old eyes, and find the larger fonts helpful. Most importantly though, the subheadings get bolded, and end up looking more prominent than the headings they are listed under. That seems to be counterintuitive to what a subheading should be / look like. I realize tradition can be a hard thing to change, but subheading fonts that appear more prominent than the headings they are place under seems like something to be considered, old person eyestrain issues aside.
- @Nicholas Nastrusnic: See MOS:HEADINGS which explains it all. Nthep (talk) 17:37, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

- The RfC on administrator activity requirements failed to reach consensus for any proposal.
- Following discussions at the Bureaucrats' noticeboard and Wikipedia talk:Administrators, an earlier change to the restoration of adminship policy was reverted. If requested, bureaucrats will not restore administrator permissions removed due to inactivity if there have been five years without a logged administrator action; this "five year rule" does not apply to permissions removed voluntarily.
- A new tool is available to help determine if a given IP is an open proxy/VPN/webhost/compromised host.
- The Arbitration Committee announced two new OTRS queues. Both are meant solely for cases involving private information; other cases will continue to be handled at the appropriate venues (e.g., WP:COIN or WP:SPI).
paid-en-wp wikipedia.org
has been set up to receive private evidence related to abusive paid editing.checkuser-en-wp wikipedia.org
has been set up to receive private requests for CheckUser. For instance, requests for IP block exemption for anonymous proxy editing should now be sent to this address instead of the functionaries-en list.
