To the Master of User boxes
Hi UNiCorn, your mastery of User boxes is really impressive. I am also curious on how to create tables to enter data covering different years with rows and columns. Can you help me get started on those two counts (User boxes, and tables). Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise in Wikitext. Sympa 23:06, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Redwall
Not a problem. I'm not too good with template coding either, but I am good with using the preview button repeatedly, as well as determining cause and effect, so I can handle myself well enough when it comes to adjusting templates. (I'd do better if Wikimedia didn't insist on using semantic coding... what's so evil about font tags that we have to use div now?)
Ideally, we'd put a photo of a brick wall in the image field, but I couldn't find any that looked particularly attractive when thumbnailed. --tjstrf 20:29, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Question on the project as a whole: should we list characters alphabetically, by book, or by race, or what? --tjstrf 20:29, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Would we leave Martin the Warrior (Redwall) at his own article or merge him as well? --tjstrf 20:44, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Toys: Species of animals that play
Hi ONUnicorn. You asked why I contended (by editing) that not all animals play. I might have elaborated more in that section if that had fit the general tone of the paragraph but as it was even my edit makes the entry a little less light-hearted and flowing. Its true that its really hard to determine whether or not a given species plays and someone could contend that, despite all evidence and most of the research, species of fish, amphibians, and reptiles do play but, even then, all of those belong to just one infraphylum of animals and hence to say that all animals play (which would include a lot of species that don't even have complex nervous systems or even more than a single cell) seemed a little too flippant. Hence my first wikipedia edit ever. ;) Do you think it was too nit-picky? Beyond that, it is interesting that down a totally different evolutionary branch you do find species, like various cephalopods, that do play in a way recognizable to human beings. It suggests the conclusion that play is an outcome, perhaps necessary, of complex neurological systems.
Horse articles
In answer to your question...well, first do you read or contribute to horse articles? I ask this in order to know if you're familiar with mine in particular? I've gradually and painfully discovered that how I write is not how a proper wikipedian writes, and rather than reduce the color (already greatly reduced by trying to write to wiki rules), of my articles, I thought I'd just remove those which are causing whomever to tag them with tone offences. I either have to do that, or cut away what makes the article interesting. Straight facts are not my forte. I can't remove them all even though some of them are almost entirely my work because others have contributed, and though those contributions might be small, still I have no right to erase their efforts. But most of my articles have remained untouched by others, and whenever I open one to add something and discover they've been tagged by "tone," it just takes the heart out of my contributing. I just wanted to remind people of certain wonderful horses I hated to see forgotten. Perhaps I can find somewhere else to put them? Or create my own site? I don't know. I did have such a lovely time on wikipedia and was intending to fill the horse section with forgotten champions and great old stories. But thank you for asking. ..Ki Longfellow 22:25, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
There are quite a few articles still remaining I haven't removed...although I no doubt will. Those that were tagged are already gone. Silky Sullivan and Black Gold among them. Zippy Chippy is still there. So far, no tone tag. But I expect one any minute. ggggg ..Ki Longfellow 23:56, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Ajith Kumar
Hello, ONUnicorn, thanks for your comments on Ajith Kumar's talk page. I havea further question though. If it has been agreed that "Notable roles" are not to be included into the article, what do I do if User:King Dracula adds them again? Inform an admin? --Plumcouch Talk2Me 16:39, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Salman Khan
Hello, ONUnicorn, thanks a lot for your advice and help. So far, it has been quiet over at Kumar's article and I hope it stays that way. Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 12:58, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
More on play
Hi UNiCorn, thanks for your note on my talk page. I like the phrasing "most animals with complex neurological systems play" that you suggested. I just looked and someone has indeed already simplified my edit. The new wording seems to again be a little misleading but I don't want to rush in there and make another edit that needs to be simplified again. I might later add some of that discussion to the Play (activity) page. Somehow (I think it was something on your user page) I knew that it was affection for and observation of fish and amphibians that had made you initially balk at my edit ;)
Autoblock
<<unblock-auto|1=198.179.243.50|2=Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Test, blockme for inappropriate username please". The reason given for Test, blockme for inappropriate username>>
Yes, I created that account because I wanted to see if the message the blocked user sees is different then the message other people see. It is. I didn't realise that my IP address would be blocked and my real account would be autoblocked as well. ~ ONUnicorn (Talk / Contribs) 21:03, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Former Muslims category
ONU, this must be resolved soon and the Deletion notice must be taken out. Please see [1] You may delete this message after you see it. --Matt57 23:09, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
ONU, thanks for the message. I'm happy the category will probably be kept. Thanks for bringing this up for debate as it was bound to happen at some time. --Matt57 01:07, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
ONU, 7 days have passed and everyone wants to keep this category (it was completely ridiculous from the start for someone to even suggest the deletion). No administrator has took out the deletion notice for this category. Whats up?
You didnt have to pay importance to an anonymous person. You wrote:
- An anon tried to delete this by blanking it, and was reverted by AntiVandalBot. They left a message on AntiVandalBot's talk page, and I think they have somewhat of a point. Following are some quotes from their message: "a page that held religiouly charged views of a violent nature", "I ... attempted to delete en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Former_Muslims but your bot has prevented that. I'm left with no choice but to report that wiki is allowing itself to host what could be a terrorist hit list." and their edit summary, "if i see this up agan , i'll forward it to homSec as a terrorist hit list" (sic on all of those) ~ ONUnicorn (Talk / Contribs) 20:38, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
--Matt57 17:46, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok thats alright then. Even then, the reason given by the anonymous user was senseless. Does this even make any serious SENSE?
- "if i see this up agan , i'll forward it to homSec as a terrorist hit list"
I'm taking out the notice now as we've decided to take out. I understand your hesitation to take out the notice as your fellow editors may accuse you of you know what. 'Where is it that says only admins may take out the notice? --Matt57 18:11, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Actually I cant take out this notice, you're right. It says "until the survey is closed". Can you just go ahead and close that section yourself and say that its been decided to keep the category and then take it out. Whats the big deal? What will the admins to do anyway? 7 days have passed and a consensus has been reached - thats all that matters. --Matt57 18:15, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
If this is what you based your decision to nominate the Cagory for deletion, its sad and you know that:
- 19:27, 23 October 2006 (hist) (diff) Category:Former Muslims (if i see this up agan , i'll forward it to homSec as a terrorist hit list,)
This anonymous moron's action was to delete the introduction of the category and threaten the people listed in this category and you proceeded to nominate the Category for deletion? Are you sure you dont know this anonymnous person in other ways? Regardless, it was clearly a poor decision for you to nominate it, based on the garbage VANDAL edits and threats of an anonymous user. --Matt57 18:20, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
And yes, there's a slight responsibility that comes after people get a username. Thats why even after getting a username, some pages are protected for 4 days. The user has to be atleast 4 days old. You have to see it case by case. In this case, it was an anonymous moron who VANDALIZED the category page and then you proceeded to nominate it for Deletion. Great! I'm not harping on this but I hope you realize what you did and dont pay attention to vandals next time.--Matt57 18:24, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Its ok, I'll close the section now. From now on the least you can do is not to pay attention to anonymous Deletion vandalism and terrorists who threaten others.--Matt57 18:27, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
You wrote:
- "The IP's other contributions aren't vandalism."
This action certainly WAS - he deleted the stuff and proceeded to threaten the people in the list. Is that not vandalism ? Yes or no? Why do you think this isnt vandalism? Explain this to me.
And I see yes, its the admins who are deleting the notices and closing the debate. If this doesnt happen in a few days, I'll do it myself. Keep this on your watch and get the notice out, or get the admins to take it out as soon as you can or when they read your message.--Matt57 18:35, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Request of independent reviewer
Hi, I saw your name in WP:1FAPQ project page, listed as an available independent reviewer. I have prepared this article: Mount Tambora for FAC, but I need somebody not familiar with the subject to inspect the article for its writing style, sources and well-written prose. If you have some spare time, could you please take a look at the article? Thanks a lot in advance. Oh, could you please also comment whether the article is already feasible for FAC? Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 16:50, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Selig Percy Amoils
Thank you for your comments in Talk:Selig Percy Amoils. I asked for another opinion because I anticipate that the article will soon be reverted in opposition to the consensus that seems to have been achieved. I anticipate that I will need to bring this up on Wikipedia:Mediation, so I wanted to make sure that I followed the proper chain in the dispute resolution process that leads up to that. Thanks again! -AED 02:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Copyedit request
Hello, I noticed you left your name at WP:1FAPQ in the copyediting department. Now I didn't sign up for WP:1FAPQ but I currently have k-os running for featured article. Some users pointed out that the article needs a copyedit. So can I kindly ask you to look through it? - Tutmosis 21:12, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your comments at the Esperanza MfD, I thought they were beautiful and poignant. (And believe me when I say I'm not just saying this because you suggested that we keep it.) William S. Powell text
Hi ONUnicorn,
I'm the webmaster and IT Manager for the University of North Carolina Press. All text for the Powell article was either written originally by me or was taken from UNC Press media/press release information, all of which is available for use by any media outlet.
Should the bottom line simply be removed to avoid confusion? And/or is any further release information required?
thanks,

Another request, if you have the time.
Hello again! Since you helped me a bit with Kroger Babb, I was wondering if you could help me with another article I put together that's related, Mom and Dad. I'm thinking with a prose check and some more expansion of the plot (which I plan to do today/tonight), it might be close to an FA, too. Could I request you take a look at it if you have a shot? Thanks either way, and let me know if I can help you with anything since I keep pestering you all the time. Thanks either way! --badlydrawnjeff talk 14:34, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
