Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Werner Herrmann, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Saar. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

zur See

In the Kriegsmarine, the suffix "zur See" only applied to officers of the executive branch (Seeoffizierskorps), they also wore the star on top of their stripes. For Engineer Officers the suffix was (Ing.), and they wore a cogwheel instead of the star. [1] ÄDA - DÄP VA (talk) 16:29, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Hmm, looks like you're right [2] -O.R.Comms 16:33, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
It's complicated. Imagine the confusion when a "Kapitänleutnant" mingles with US Navy personnel. ÄDA - DÄP VA (talk) 16:52, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Query

German Workers' Party (Austria-Hungary). What do you know about this party? Kierzek (talk) 18:43, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

A little bit, actually. Unfortunately its all locked in the contract since its in the chapter of my book about the origins of the Germanic-SS and none of it can go on Wikipedia. I took a break for a few weeks from copy-editing, very tedious process and my brain was frying - been enjoying my submarine game. Hey...you might like Uniforms and insignia of the Kriegsmarine. I massively rewrote the entire article and added all kinds of new information. I hope people like it...maybe someone will give me a barnstar! (massive hint hint wink wink). -O.R.Comms 20:29, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
Okay. Kierzek (talk) 21:25, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Video game from mid 90s

I don't know if you have found the game name already, but for adventure games there is a forum over at gameboomers.com where you can ask the question and maybe one of the people there will know. Jarkeld (talk) 14:35, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Getting in touch outside Wiki

Do you have a contact method that I can get in touch with you?AlternateWars (talk) 22:35, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Off Wikipedia contact is usually only between two users who have built up years of trust and cooperation, since it generally reveals personal real world contact information which is not to be given lightly. In my 12+ years on Wikipedia, I've only ever contacted one person in the "real world" outside of Wikipedia. So, I will have to decline your offer and suggest we just use Wikipedia mediums to communicate. Also, I would suggest building up a user page and start editing standard non-controversial articles to build up experience and an understanding of the systems of this website. It makes dealing with the harder and more complex articles all the more easier. -O.R.Comms 01:53, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

I think that's overkill, really. What copyright law does this violate? Who exactly is going to come to Wikipedia with a legal challenge to that image? I don't blame you, personally, its just sometimes the policies just don't make much sense. Anyway, I responded on the image discussion page. There shouldn't be a problem here. -O.R.Comms 17:35, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

2016 US prez article.

Howdy. Greeley was dead, when the 1872 Electors voted. Therefore he wasn't a qualified presidential candidate, when they voted. GoodDay (talk) 03:06, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Good point. All of the major news outlets are saying "for the first time since 1872" so I added a reference note. Please tweek, edit, modify if need be. I dont edit much on those major presidential articles. -O.R.Comms 03:19, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
I know. But it's difficult for a dead person to be a qualified presidential candidate. The 66 electoral votes he did posthumously receive, were all rejected by Congress. GoodDay (talk) 03:24, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
What it must have been like for them when he died. They probably stared at each other and said "What are we supposed to do now??". BTW, excellent work on that article. Its really well done. -O.R.Comms 03:27, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
Imagine if he'd been the victor in that election. PS - Thanks. GoodDay (talk) 03:34, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Military award images

c:User_talk:MGA73 - several of these deletion notices refer to the images you uploaded to en-wiki many years ago, and were move to commons by this bot. Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:57, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Hmm, yes. Brings back some memories, that's for sure. That was back about a decade or more ago when I was doing a lot of research on military awards and badges. To the best of my memory there was a CD at the Military Personnel Records Center where a lot of those badge and award pictures came from; the CD was made at Randolph Air Force Base. I saw one note about someone claiming the image was stolen from their website which clearly isn't the case. Some of those images date from around 2001 and even before. Anyway, a lot of those award pictures were challenged about 10 years ago, some very nasty back and forth between a lot of people and my behavior wasn't so great either. I leave it all alone now. Keep or delete, I am sure there are far more knowledgeable people than I to determine. Thank you very much for letting me know about this, it did bring some memories both good and bad. Happy New Year! -O.R.Comms 02:14, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for your work on Kriegsmarine

Your friends at the National Archives and the Navy Historical Society thank you sincerely for the good work you've done on the Kriegsmarine articles. Please keep it up.

Original research

Hello, it looks like this edit of yours was reverted, most likely because it violates no original research and is uncited. Please feel free to add it back in if you can find supporting references online! Thanks, Garchy (talk) 14:41, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

That was already addressed on the article talk page. Looks like a lot of the game engine stuff was actually merged into the first couple of paragraphs, so its a non-issue. -O.R.Comms 15:50, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
Ah, I missed that, apologies. I should always check the talk page first! Garchy (talk) 16:49, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Global War on Terrorism Service Medal

Since you created Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, I wanted to let you know that I've left a message on the talkpage. Feel free to reply there. Thank you.Zigzig20s (talk) 08:23, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

There is a "ping" feature you can use on article talk pages so you don't have to duplicate notify on the user's page. I don't myself ever use the feature that often. -O.R.Comms 14:51, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

Medal of Honor

First of all let me wish you a happy Saint David's Day, fellow Son of Wales! The edit you made on Medal of Honor seems confusing to me. Do you mean that the MOH is older than the Silver Star or vice versa? The phrase "second to the Silver Star" confuses the meaning for me. Could this be reworded somewhat to clarify what is meant. I do not have access to the reference you used so I'm not sure what the situation is. I'm sure you have good intentions. Cheers! Cuprum17 (talk) 19:33, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

Silver Star is #2 in age, MOH is number 1. I fixed the wording. Thank you for the note! -O.R.Comms 19:39, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for the reply, Sir. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer (ret) sends... Have a great day... Cuprum17 (talk) 19:41, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

United States military seniority

I edited the United States military seniority because if didn't look right. While time in service can be a factor in modern day military seniority, but as stated in DoD Instruction 1310.01 - Rank and Seniority of Commissioned Officers, seniority is determined primarily by date of rank. Neovu79 (talk) 02:45, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Sounds like you guys are on top of it, both on that point of order and the EWO article. I'm glad the article turned out so well. You may recall it was once just a list of dates of rank and was being constantly vandalized by the 1976-1776 Washington edits. -O.R.Comms 15:40, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Lion Guard

Hi. So are you going to keep editing Lion Guard after all in spite of your recent comments? Not that you are somehow prohibited from doing so, but I deleted a bunch of policy/guideline-noncompliant content all at once because I thought you weren't going to edit there anymore. Let me know. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 06:46, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Nope, off the watchlist. -O.R.Comms 00:49, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
I thought you were done but you continue to edit that page. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but if you're going to continue then I'd like to discuss some of the sources you've cited. If you're not going to continue then I won't bother you unnecessarily. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 18:15, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

I took it off the watchlist was all. That thing really needs more editors to get involved. Just you and me isn't good for it. Secondary sources would be nice too, but there just don't appear to be any. If there is something critical, you could always ping me. -O.R.Comms 19:54, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
