Hello, and yep, a lot of unverified content that need references in that article. Particularly direct quotes. There is also a POV problem that requires extensive rewording/deleting of inappropriate bias. However, we're not exactly experts of the subject, my best advice is to get help from Wikipedia:WikiProject Pakistan as they know more about the conventions they follow when writing geographic articles.--Obsidi♠n^Soul 23:18, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 backlog elimination drive Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter. Participation GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs So far, 79 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 64 have participated. Interest is high due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page, and many new and first-time copy editors have joined us for the drive. N T Rama Rao filmography

Hi Octopet! Great job with the N T Rama Rao filmography article! I looked over the article and am glad with the changes you made. I took the liberty to remove the "GOCEinuse" and "copy edit" tags. I also removed "unreferenced" and replaced it with "refimprove" since it now has at least one reference. Of course, the article still could use some work (mostly, I think it just needs to be expanded with some biographic material), but the article is now in better condition that it was before. Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 backlog elimination drive report Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating in the March 2011 drive! This newsletter summarizes the March drive and other recent events. Participation GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs There were 99 signups for the drive; of these, 70 participated. Interest was high mainly due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page. We had a record-breaking 84 articles listed on the Requests page in March; 11 of these have been promoted to Good article status so far. Several of our recent efforts have received Featured Article status as well, and the GOCE is becoming a solid resource for the Wikipedia community. Many thanks to editors who have been helping out at the Requests page and by copy editing articles from the backlog. Progress report Remarkable progress was made in reducing the backlog this month, as we now have fewer than 500 articles remaining from 2009. We are well under the 4,000-article mark for the total number remaining in the queue. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 53% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. Barnstars will be distributed over the next week. Hi Mabdul, I'm not sure why you are responding to a question I left on Yoga Mat's talk page about a tag he placed on an article. I was following the instructions on his talk page to use the help me template. Can you explain what you meant?: 'I have really to search where the problem was since you placed the helpme and not Yoga Mat'. I don't understand this sentence. Thanks for clarifying. With this edit you placed a helpme tag. Although it is not prohibited to place such tags on talk pages of other user (talk) pages, I really don't like to see this. A helpme tag have to include any question. With what do you need(ed) help? You ask for "nothing". So I investigated some time to look your (and Yoga mats) contributions and tried to "solve" the problem. RE: Yoga as exercise or alternative medicine

There are a number of vague expressions that use a passive voice to avoid having to specify any authoritativeness of the statement and conceal the full picture - there are too many generalizations. The first line is a good case in point - the word "yoga" has about fifty different meanings !!

Again, (not spending any more time looking any further down the topic) we have "Yoga teachers assert that yoga stimulates the flow of healing "life energy", or prana" - well some might - but again this is not a universal idea.

Therefore, I have reinstated the weasel words tag on this topic for the time being --Yoga Mat (talk) 11:42, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Currency

Octopet, thanks for your many contributions. I notice that you're changing "$" to "USD". However I don't think that's the standard for designating dollar amounts. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers). That guideline seems to prefer the dollar sign, except in areas where it would be ambiguous, in which case "US$" is the preferred usage. To be honest, I'm not sure every reader would know that "USD" means "United States Dollars". Does that make sense?   Will Beback  talk  19:40, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

On Yoga and Ayurveda

Hi Octopet. I'm flattered that you would trust my judgment like this. I often intervene on the TCM talk page because I've done fairly extensive research on the history of Chinese medicine and I know a few things about its present. I wouldn't have the same confidence discussing Yoga as exercise or alternative medicine and Maharishi Ayurveda, though I could recommend a few good sources on the history of Indian medicine. In general, I've found that the best way to re-establish neutrality in an article is to remove bias rather than trying to cancel it with a strong counter-bias. Quackery presented as science should be deleted, whereas controversial statements should be reworded to reflect what reliable sources say about a given topic, but there should be no attack on the topic at hand. This being said, I did take a quick look at the two pages you linked to. The discussion in Maharishi Ayurveda seems to have gone cold for more than a month, so I'm not sure how I should contribute to it. Maybe you could let me know which other sections of these articles you find problematic so that I can focus on them rather than trying to find the problems myself? Then I'll see what I can do. Thanks for looking at the articles. Regarding the ayurveda article, I am wondering if the use of an infobox is the best approach, especially since some (one?) editor wants to call it pseudoscience which seems to be a non-NPOV approach to the debate. I appreciate your comment about removing bias rather than adding counter-bias. (replying here and in your talk page) Octopet (talk) 20:25, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Join us! Progress report: We're almost on track to meet our targets for the drive. Great work, guys. We have reduced our target group of articles—May, June, and July 2011—by about 40%, and the overall backlog has been reduced by 264 articles so far, to around 2500 articles. Lfstevens continues to carry most of the weight, having edited 360 articles and over a quarter of a million words already. Thanks to all who have participated! Transcendental Meditation

Hi Octopet, I saw your post on the Transcendental Meditation talk page saying that you wanted to know what you can do to improve the article. I am planning to analyze and revise the lead to bring it into compliance with WP:LEAD (ie summarize the entire article in a balanced way). I welcome your help with that. Also, recently the article called Transcendental Meditation technique has been revised and expanded and there have been comments by two editors that the tone of the article may be too promotional. If you could read it and make changes to make it more neutral, that would be great. You may want to look at the talk page to see the specific comments and ongoing discussions. One thing to remember though is the caution given at the TM Arbitration: "Peremptory reversion or removal of material referenced to reliable sources and added in good faith by others, is considered disruptive when done to excess. This is particularly true of controversial topics where it may be perceived as confrontational." The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. GOCE July 2013 news report

Guild of Copy Editors July 2013 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter Participation: Out of 30 people who have signed up for this drive so far, 18 have participated. Progress report: Thus far we have reduced the number of May/June 2012 articles to just 124 articles, so we're on the right track. Unfortunately, for the first time in GOCE history, the number of articles in the backlog has actually gone up during this drive. While all participants are currently doing a fine job, we just don't have as many of them as we have had in the past. We have over 500 editors on our mailing list, but only 18 editors who have done a copy edit for the drive. If you're receiving this newsletter, it's because you have an interest in copy editing.
