The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo on Sunday inaugurated its new state executive members to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new executive members were announced by the chairman of the PDP state congress committee, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Makinde, who was represented by Mr Babatunde Oduyoye, his Special Adviser on Strategy and Political Matter, declared that Mr Tony Aziegbemie emerged as the new state chairman after polling 817 votes to defeat his closest rival Mr Felix Imoisili, who polled 488 votes.
Other members of the state new executives include Mr Hillary Otsu, Secretary who polled 739 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mrs Omololu Ojehomo who polled 275 votes.
Hon. Harrison Omagbon polled 770 to emerged the Deputy State Chairman of the party against his rival Mr Emmanuel Okpobor who polled 234 votes.
The Edo State governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 19 governorship election in the state, Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday assured the people of Iguobazuwa in Ovia South West Local Government Area of the state that his administration will complete the College of Agriculture in Iguoriakhi before the middle of next year.
Obaseki gave the assurance while addressing party faithful during his reelection campaign at Iguobazuwa wards 1 and 2.
The governor also received prayers and blessings for victory ahead of the gubernatorial election from the umbrella body of village heads (Odionweres) in the LGA.
Ushering the governor into the presence of the Odionweres, Edo State Deputy Chairman of PDP, Hon. Harrison Omagbon, commended them for their support for the governor in the last three years and eight months.
“We want to thank the Odionweres in Ovia South West for their support. I assure you that the governor will continue with his developmental projects in this area,” Hon. Omagbon said.
On his part, Governor Obaseki said the people of Iguobazuwa are thanking him for constructing five roads.
“I will do more for them if voted to power. Iguobazuwa has been a Local Government Headquarters for long, yet no development. Electricity and other basic needs of life are missing and our youths are migrating to the city,” Obaseki said.
Obaseki assured the people of the ward that all the challenges facing the people will be a thing of the past if reelected.
“I will make the College of Agriculture here different from every other College of Agriculture in Nigeria. By the grace of God, before the middle of 2021, the school would have been completed. It will be one of the best Colleges of Agriculture in Nigeria.
Edo Kwankwansiyya Movement In R-APC Dumps APC FRANCIS ONOIRIBHOLO Aug 9, 2018 Benin - Members of the Kwankwansiyya Movement within the Reformed-All Progressives Congress (R-APC) in Edo state led by its state chairman Honourable Harrison Omagbon and the State Coordinator, have formally dumped the APC. The development is coming amidst speculations that the National Chairman of the APC and former Edo governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole is being expected in the state to reconcile warring factions in the party.
Addressing newsmen in Benin City, Mr Omagbon, said their decision to dump the APC was after, ” critical evaluation, discussions, due consultations and after reviewing the unfolding political events in the country”. “We wish to inform the state leadership of the APC that the 589,137 members of the Kwankwansiyya Movement from the 192 wards in Edo state hereby resign from the APC with immediate effect today 9th August 2018”. Omagbon however said that leaders of the movement which National leader is former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwanso, would soon decide on their next line of action, although indications are they may defect to the PDP anytime soon. Present at the press briefing were a former APC National Assembly member for Ovia Federal constituency, Engr Isaac Osahon, former APC chairman for Orhionwon local government in Edo state Mr Mathew Ehigie, former council Chairman for Ovia Northeast local government Mrs Lucy Omagbon.
