CfD relists

Please stop relisting discussions on the basis of "recent activity". That is not, in itself, a reason to relist. jlwoodwa (talk) 03:56, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

i'm not relisting them based off recent activity. i'm relisting them and noting that there is recent activity. there's a difference. Oreocooke (talk) 03:59, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
In that case, it appears that you are relisting every discussion that has been open for more than seven days. Please don't. If we wanted it to be done systematically, we would have a bot do it. But we don't want that, because discussions like Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 October 24 § Category:Storer College buildings should be closed rather than relisted. jlwoodwa (talk) 04:07, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
yeah i don't know why i've been extra lenient with my relists lately. Oreocooke (talk) 04:09, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
i will also take a break from relisting for now because i have other things to do Oreocooke (talk) 04:10, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Thank you. If you return to relisting, I recommend going more slowly and relisting fewer discussions per day  I know the prospect of putting a big dent in the backlog is appealing, but there's no rush. Everyone makes mistakes at first, and taking it slower means making a mistake on just a few discussions rather than on dozens in a row. jlwoodwa (talk) 04:20, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Non-admin closures

Hi @Oreocooke, per WP:NAC you shouldn't be closing any discussion in which an outcome is on the table that you can't implement. Specifically, you should never close a discussion as delete (except at CfD, they have different rules), or close any discussion in which it is not unambiguous that deletion is not going to be the outcome. If you are going to continue to close discussion you should carefully read Wikipedia:Non-admin closure.

Separately, some advice: while there is no policy against you doing so, I strongly recommend you wait a while before diving into closing discussions. You have a track record of making potentially bad redirects and templates and you are still a relatively new editor. There's plenty of other things to do and plenty of other people to close discussions. Gain some more experience, wait until you understand the policy more thoroughly, and then come back to it later. Rusalkii (talk) 03:58, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

my mistake (ignore that i just closed an mfd discussion before reading this) Oreocooke (talk) 04:00, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
You've gone right back to relisting AfDs after this reply. Have you actually read Wikipedia:Non-admin closure in this time? Doing closures or relists is an admin-like action and you will be held to admin standards with regards to your conduct in it: one of the important expectations of admin or non-admin closer is that they are well-acquainted with all the relevant policies or guidelines before they start acting in that area. Rusalkii (talk) 04:23, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
@Rusalkii trust me, i made sure to read the relevant page(s) before i relisted anything Oreocooke (talk) 04:32, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Clearly you have not. Relisting an AfD with the rationale unclear consensus. 6 days is close enough to 7 (emphasis added) (as you've done here) does not show evidence that you have a clear understanding of deletion policy. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:29, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
yeah you're probably right Oreocooke (talk) 17:36, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
@Rusalkii also i stopped after 3 or 4 because i remembered that while making a big dent in the backlog is nice i have other things to do Oreocooke (talk) 04:33, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Trumpota

Hello Oreocooke,

I'm Significa liberdade, and I patrol new pages here on Wikipedia.

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged a page that you created (Trumpota) for deletion because it is an unnecessary disambiguation page per one of the criteria at WP:G14.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Significa liberdade}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Proposed deletion of Trumpota

Notice

The article Trumpota has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Neither is an appropriate link for this DAB page. Slovakian doesn't appear particularly relevant to trumpets, so Trumpota is an inappropriate redirect. We also shouldn't have cross-namespace redirects, so WP:TRUMPOTA isn't a good target either.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 15:51, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

it don't matter Oreocooke (talk) 15:57, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Mass relisting today

Many of the XfD discussions you relisted today were relisted improperly, or with cryptic/inappropriate relisting comment. Please familiarize yourself with WP:DELETE, especially WP:RELIST, before you continue. Thank you. Owen× 16:57, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

ok Oreocooke (talk) 16:58, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
yeah I forgot about the no quorum part Oreocooke (talk) 16:59, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
I would like to reiterate what OwenX said. Oreo your edits borderline on WP:DISRUPTIVE. You have been warned by multiple users. Frankly your edits should all be reverted but the nature of relisting a TFD is that it affects numerous pages so reverting is not easy. You are still a very new user. I would recommend you focus your efforts elsewhere. Non-admin closures of AFDs/TFDs need someone with a more experienced hand. If this behavior continues on your part I will be pushing for a WP:TBAN. Just so you understand that would officially ban you from participating in article and template deletion discussion resulting in a block on your account if you continue.
We welcome being BOLD here but you have overstepped. As I said, focus your efforts elsewhere. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:14, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
but where.
most of what I do besides my userpage is just maintenance Oreocooke (talk) 17:23, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Normal participation at RfD is welcome, (i.e. advocating stances on what should happen with listed redirects) where I've seen you around before and haven't noticed any problems with that, if that's something you're still interested in. Left guide (talk) 17:45, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
yeah Oreocooke (talk) 17:49, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
In addition to Left guide's advice, you may also want to check out the Task Center. There's plenty that needs done around here! Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:48, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
I see you haven't taken my advice to slow down. jlwoodwa (talk) 17:10, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
i did take it (I try to not do more than 1 per minute), I just sometimes forget Oreocooke (talk) 17:11, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
If "not more than one per minute" is your understanding of my message, then I strongly encourage you to stop closing and relisting discussions. jlwoodwa (talk) 17:15, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
my understanding is I shouldn't do it too fast. maybe 1 minute between was too lenient of me Oreocooke (talk) 17:18, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Speed is ABSOLUTELY NOT the issue. It is that you are doing things you have no business doing or any understanding of. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:18, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
ok Oreocooke (talk) 17:23, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
i'm gonna recommend giving it a week or so, and seeing how, why, and when things get relisted or closed. and not closing or relisting if you're involved unless it's for uncontroversial technical stuff (like an xfd being over a month old or a speedy closure that just hasn't been tagged in the venue) consarn (talck) (contirbuton s) 17:25, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Oreocooke, you left a massive cleanup job for us to carry out after you. I strongly suggest you immediately stop relisting and closing XfD discussion for at least one day while we assess the damage caused. Thank you. Owen× 17:24, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
I'd also like to echo Zackmann08's warning above. While I'm sure you mean well, your actions border on disruptive editing, and if you persist, you may end up losing your project-space editing privileges, which will prevent you from participating in, relisting or closing any XfD discussions. Owen× 17:28, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. You are not listening to what is being said as you are continue to do what we are advising against RIGHT NOW. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:29, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
ok. I don't know why I've even been doing this Oreocooke (talk) 17:34, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Oreocooke, I'm sure you meant well. But closing or relisting such discussions requires a lot of experience and practice. And even for the most experienced of us, these things typically take several minutes per XfD, so if you have to slow down to "only 1 per minute", you're likely doing something wrong. I suggest you leave XfDs for more experienced editors, and focus on adding to those discussions as a participant, not a relister/closer. Owen× 17:41, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
You're absolutely right. Oreocooke (talk) 17:43, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

final resolution

i have disabled XFDcloser, and as such will not be relisting or closing ANY discussions until I re-enable it, which will not happen this month Oreocooke (talk) 17:40, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Thank you! I appreciate your cooperation. Owen× 17:42, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Advice

Hello Oreo. Here's what you need to do now: go to ANI, apologize, and promise to stop closing or relisting any XfD discussions for at while. I suggest at least a month. If you do not do this, you may end up with a block, and I don't want that.

In future, you need to take warnings seriously. When someone says "you should not do this" or "please slow down", you need to STOP immediately. Then, try to understand why they said that. Only once they have confirmed you understood correctly should you even consider trying the same task again. Toadspike [Talk] 18:06, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

I'm glad to see your response in the section above. It took me a while to write this. Thank you. I hope you still take the second part of my message to heart. Toadspike [Talk] 18:07, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Suggestions

Hi, since you seem interested in maintenance tasks and have been active in RfDs/redirects, here are some activity suggestions you might want to try:

  • If there seems to be a consensus emerging for a disambiguation (dab) page during RfD, it is often helpful to have someone draft a dab page under the redirect. After completing the task, be sure to announce it in the discussion so others are aware. This saves closers and other editors a lot of work.
  • At RfD, we typically don't have anyone doing deletion sorting, but could benefit from it. These two edits are an example of a user doing this. It can be a valuable way to notify WikiProjects and other interested parties to hopefully get more participation and make establishing consensus easier.
  • Adding redirect categories (rcats) can make redirect maintenance and sorting easier. It is particularly helpful for redirects that have undergone recent changes such as those that have just been retargeted by an RfD closer, or those in the new pages feed (be sure to select the "redirects" filter if you want redirects). There is a category index available at {{R template index}}.

Speedy deletion nomination of DoppeIganger

Hello Oreocooke,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged DoppeIganger for deletion, because it's a redirect that seems implausible or is an unlikely search term.

If you don't want DoppeIganger to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

AFDs "clerking"

Hello, Oreocooke,

Please stop relisting AFD discussion and don't consider closing any discussion. You are inserting irrelevant comments that do not help move these discussions along. It's not an appropriate place for you to express yourself or views about policy, the article or other editors. Perhaps in a few years when you have more editing experience, this could be a possible task you could take on but right now it doesn't seem like you are a good match for handling this administrative task. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:54, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

@Liz I've already done the things you've asked. Oreocooke (talk) 03:57, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Liz: was this a new occurrence or is this from about a week ago? There was a BIG issue with this about a week ago that resulted in an ANI. I think Oreo has gotten the message after having been severely reprimanded, but can you confirm this was not done again the last few days?
