Sorry, but ...
editI just found that Madridejos, Cebu, its wikidata has no finance numbers in it. And I can't work out where to find them - not in PSGC (and there is no webpage either). Have you got any idea how to find it? Auntie Kathleen (talk) 15:06, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Auntie Kathleen: No, sorry, I don't know. BTW, all the PH articles are standardized, so please don't change formatting! In particular, reducing text size is contrary to MOS:FONTSIZE, and you are also removing valid "access-date" parameters in the weather box. If there is a specific reason for making these changes, first discuss them at WP Philippines. Thank you. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 15:30, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I find what I originally ask myself: no reply at Tambayan Philippines
- There are several things wrong with {{Philippine Census}} –
- The internal format has the columns all aligned left, with a large gap aligned right in each column;
- The graph fills the whole width of the entity, which means the graph is too wide to understand easily;
- The width of the entity is too wide for my phone, neither table nor graph fits in a single view;
- In my phone, but not in my pc, the header is not as wide as the body;
- In my phone, but not in my pc, the header is not as wide as the body;
- I think two columns is enough. By using graph-width=right, for pc style two columns of data, their height would be more or less the same height as the graph. For narrower pcs and phones, it would allow the graph to appear underneath.
- {{Weather box}} –
- The width is too wide to fit in my phone. It is three columns short, either right or left. I don't think that reducing to 90% is contrary to MOS:FONTSIZE (which I have read) and allows whole width.
- [The colours are horrible, of course. To me, simple black and white text seems much better, Also see MOS:NAVBOXCOLOR ]
- Do something about User:Migfab008
- Auntie Kathleen (talk) 01:45, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- These are merely cosmetic changes to suit your device. The census and weather boxes are used in tens-of-thousands of articles (not just PH articles), so if everyone keeps on making changes to suit their own devices, nothing would be standardized anymore... -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 02:20, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Your revert of Fokker
editRe: you revert of a recent edit to Fokker with the reason "Not for company infoboxes" ... I respectfully ask you to reconsider. There are hundreds maybe thousands) of company articles where the age of the company's beginning and end are shown in the infobox. Truthanado (talk) 18:47, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Truthanado: I haven't noticed that, but when I do, I would remove it there as well. It just doesn't serve a purpose to state in every infobox how long ago a year is. Just my opinion of course, so maybe this should be discussed in a general forum or wikiproject... -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 12:50, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: User:HouseOfBetula-Gryfudd
editHello P199, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:HouseOfBetula-Gryfudd, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: User does exist, or this is not a user page. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:33, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Ivanvector: Thanks for all your hard admin work. In this case, yes, the user exists "on paper", but the User page was not created by the namesake user but by an unrelated user, to promote some personal (?) topic it seems. If you still think that U2 doesn't apply, what deletion process applies then? MfD? -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 18:06, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- The speedy criteria have to be applied narrowly - if the criterion says "pages of users that don't exist", and the user does exist, then that criterion does not apply, end of story. The criteria are very black and white, because they're the limited cases where pages can be deleted without any discussion. Normally yes, if a non-article page is declined for speedy deletion then the next step is MFD, as there's no PROD for drafts. In this case, though, I would normally review against other criteria and maybe just change the tag and delete the page anyway, but I was suddenly called into a meeting and didn't get a chance to review this page thoroughly.
- Having reviewed it now: the page was created by User:HistoricallyAccurate, and they created the page less than an hour after the account that that userspace belongs to was created. It seems obvious then that HistoricallyAccurate also created the HouseOfBetula-Gryfudd account. As far as I can tell this is the only other account that they have created, the content is made up (though there are fantasy nobility "leagues" and they have bled onto Wikipedia before), and none of the content was used in the user's other work. Since it doesn't seem to have any use towards Wikipedia's purpose it might meet WP:U5, except that it's supposed to be pages made by users without much other activity, and HistoricallyAccurate is fairly active. If they meant it as a test and weren't meaning to keep it then either WP:G2 or WP:G7 would apply.
- How about we just ask? For now I'll move it to a subpage of HistoricallyAccurate's user space, and then I'll leave them a message asking what they're meaning to do with it, if anything. In that case the page will also be eligible for deletion under WP:G13 if it's not edited for six months, so one way or another it will eventually be dealt with. If you disagree you can of course re-tag the article with a different speedy tag (I won't reject you again but can't speak for other admins) or start a discussion at MFD. Cheers, and thanks for your work patrolling. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 23:07, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

- @Nichole Ouellette: Thanks for your efforts at WP and your image uploads at Commons. As per WP:IG: "Wikipedia is not an image repository. A gallery is not a tool to shoehorn images into an article, and a gallery consisting of an indiscriminate collection of images of the article subject should generally either be improved in accordance with the below paragraphs or moved to Wikimedia Commons." In other words, the inclusion of the images at Commons is more than sufficient. Regards, -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 14:46, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. This allows hiding edits made by automated tools. (T334338)
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)
- The arbitration cases named Scottywong and AlisonW closed 10 July and 16 July respectively.

Proposal to Rename "South China Sea" to "West Philippine Sea" (La union wiki dispute)
editHello fellow editors,,
I would like to propose a discussion regarding the naming of the body of water commonly referred to as the "South China Sea." Given its geographical location and historical context, I believe it would be more accurate and appropriate to use the term "West Philippine Sea."
The name "South China Sea" has often been criticized for its bias towards one particular claimant and disregards the territorial disputes among neighboring countries. By using the term "West Philippine Sea," we can provide a more neutral and accurate representation of the area, highlighting the Philippines' claims without favoring any specific nation.
I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on this proposal. Let's engage in a constructive conversation and consider the historical, geographical, and political aspects when deciding on the most appropriate name for this body of water.
Thank you for your attention and participation.
Best regards, Haruno212007
Haruno212007 (talk) 04:20, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Haruno212007: First, my personal talk page is not the place to propose naming conventions for international bodies of water. That should be done at Talk:South China Sea. And secondly, such a proposal would not pass. Your proposed name "West Philippine Sea" is equally contentious and only applicable to use within the Philippines. WP is global, and therefore we use globally accepted common names, see WP:USECOMMONNAMES. Regards, -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 18:24, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

Lauwersmeer - Dyke/Dam - contradiction?
editSee page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauwersmeer. My reading of it reveals that some clarification, or removal of contradiction may be appropriate.
Under "History", please review para 2, noting references to "32km", "dykes", "13km", "dam", "13 km dike plan was more expensive than the 32 km plan", and "government decided on the cheaper option". Then in para 4, note reference to "The 13-kilometer-long dike".
The whole reads as if the 32km plan was cheaper, and the government used the cheaper option, yet we are later told that the structure now existing is 13km. How can this be?
Perhaps someone with access to validated history of Lauwersmeer could clarify this? Pwat (talk) 09:34, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Pwat: Wow, you are asking about an edit I did in 2007! And that edit was a merge, so I did not write that specific info. You better search through the original article's history to find who wrote it and ask them. Sorry, not much help... -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 16:14, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
