Super work. I've nominated it for a Good article. Hope this OK with you. You should still have a few weeks if you wish to improve it further in the meantime..♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:43, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Shouldn't have any problems, if you are still having problems with that in a day or two let me know. Honestly your article on Natural dye is one of the most interesting and readable articles I've read in quite some time on here. I always like reading about ancient traditions in various parts of the world anyway.. Keep up the great work!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:51, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
New Years Message for WikiProject United States
editWith the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions or you can always post something on the projects talk page. If you do not want to recieve a monthly message please put an * before your name on the members page.--Kumioko (talk) 03:59, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Natural dye
editOn 19 January 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Natural dye, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that early dyers combined natural dyes with salt, vinegar, natural alum or stale urine? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

New WikiProject Women's History
editA new WikiProject on Women's History has been approved. The project founders are doing a lot of outreach to engage new editors with expertise in the field, but the project also needs experienced editors. - PKM (talk) 02:01, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi PKM - thanks for the suggestion re: "prior to" dates for my suggested category for the Women's History Project, Women in Technology. I would like this to cover a large timespan, e.g. women and technology in the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, Industrial age, early 20th century, Internet age. I am wondering about including persons who are still living - your thoughts? Best, Tjepsen Tjepsen (talk) 20:48, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi, noticed you added this to the Women's History requested translation page - not sure how the German article would help expand the stub though, as it's no bigger!Dsp13 (talk) 00:27, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Ha, I added that since there's a tag to that effect on the article. I'll remove it. - PKM (talk) 00:32, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- and I've removed the tag on the article! it is nice having so many people getting involved with women's history atm.Dsp13 (talk) 18:54, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Picture license
editGood morning,
I'm writing to you about the license of one of your picture used on several Lord of the Ring articles on various Wikipedia projects, first importer on en. in 2007, then transferred to commons.
Could you add on the Commons description page or state here the source of the two images which compose File:Andúril.jpg?
And are they freely licensed or should I delete the image from Commons after a reimport on en. under fair use?
I'm waiting for your instructions about what I should do with this picture. Thank you. --Dereckson (talk) 14:52, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for those precisions.
- It seems nevertheless there is still a licensing issue: the sword itself is a copyrighted work, as it's more than a utility object and so bypass the threshold of originality.
- I so invite you to reimport the image on en., with a fair use rationale (no free equivalent exists).
- Once reimported here, the commons. version will be deleted with the summary Derivative work of a copyrighted object. --Dereckson (talk) 20:15, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
DYK for The Monument of Matrones
editOn 27 February 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Monument of Matrones, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that The Monument of Matrones (pictured), the first anthology of English women writers, included devotional works by Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth I of England? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. - Hi PKM, When I saw this was already in the prep area, I reminded the DYK people yesterday that you had asked for this to be held over until March 8th. It may be too late to change it, but perhaps you could check with them here. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 06:38, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Andúril and Horn of Gondor.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Andúril and Horn of Gondor.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 05:22, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- It looks like sooner-or-later it will get replaced with the one on commons - thanks. Skier Dude (talk) 05:00, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- But the one on Commons is going to be deleted...that's what started this whole thing. <confused> - PKM (talk) 00:46, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Update- it appears that it's back on the article - if this starts up again let me know & I'll see if we can get some resolution between here & commons... let the 'sleeping dog' alone at this point :) Skier Dude (talk) 03:29, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
editHello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.
For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:27, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Derby Template
editI think the template looks OK now, are you happy with it? I'm sure it will be improved (like all wiki stuff), but there are three new Derby Museum articles in the DYK queue which would look dapper with the "blue shoes" you have made, and it would good to get them shod. If you agree then please be bold. Are you happy for me to also paste where I can? Victuallers (talk) 18:30, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Frances Howard, Duchess of Richmond, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.stepneyrobarts.co.uk/5680.htm.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Cat-a-lot
editIt is indeed very useful, but has its quirks. You often need to add the destination category as a parent to the one you are working on so that it appears, & then remove it later. Also if the one you are working on his lots of sub-/parent cats, only some will appear. I have a dummy category beginning aaa (it keeps getting deleted) & I move them there first, then to the final destination. Also you can't look at the image pages while selecting, so a form of Kim's Game applies. Johnbod (talk) 00:19, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Members' input needed at WikiProject Women's History
editHello. I'm writing to you as your name is listed on the members page for WikiProject Women's History. In recent discussions at the project, most notably here, several members have indicated that the scope of the project may need to be more clearly defined and communicated. I have set up a workshop page for this, but it obviously needs as wide a participation as possible to achieve genuine consensus and to allow the project to move forward. You'll find the workshop here.
If you no longer consider yourself an active member of the project, it would help if you could indicate this on the members' page. This will allow us to better gauge how much people-power we actually have. Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 18:38, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

editHello! A long time ago you had offered assistance if I needed, so I'm taking you up on your offer :) I roughly know that government publications are public domain, and that we can use public domain pictures. I've created several articles using http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/biographies/all and http://leg.mt.gov/css/find%20a%20legislator.asp. Are the pictures on these okay to add to Commons?
