The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane

I was reviewing the article at The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane, and I noticed you added a {{rewrite}} tag last month. Could you be more specific as to how it should change to meet Wikipedia's quality standards? I might spend some time on a few rewrites. Thanks. Willondon (talk) 13:59, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Help me!

Hello, I have been working on expanding several article's for some time and I need someone to help me expand them, namely correcting spelling, adding more sources, and information. I am currently working on expanding the article for the influential Exploitation film classic I Drink Your Blood, if anyone is willing to collaborate with me on this please let me know.

Paleface Jack (talk) 17:14, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Hey Paleface Jack, it would be great if you could provide a bit more information about what you would like help improving on those articles so other editors know what they're meant to be doing. You say "correcting spelling" and "adding more sources" which we can help you with. But when you say "information", could you please elaborate on what you mean by this please? Thanks!  Seagull123  Φ  23:21, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Well for I Drink Your Blood, there is a lot of information missing on the film's production, release, reception, and legacy. I have been working on expanding the production section so far but it is just too time consuming to work on expanding the whole article by myself.--Paleface Jack (talk) 06:00, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Hey! Just a recommendation, you might also want to post a note to the talk page of WikiProject Film if you haven't already, there are a number of film-focused editors there and you might find some interested help there. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film Best of luck, --joe deckertalk 15:47, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

I already did, but since is taking to long, and the fact that I already have some of the information with me I thought that I would have a go at it. Unfortunately it has become a much bigger project than I anticipated, which is why I'm asking for help.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:43, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

I rather don't think random editors summoned by the {{help me}} template will be able to provide content help on a vintage exploitation movie. The current references seem rather weak to me, with some not mentioning the film at all. Others are duplicates. Yet others seem rather unreliable. The book you provide may be better, but unfortunately Google Books' snippet view isn't all that helpful, so you'd have to rely on people dedicated enough to either own the book or go look it up in a library. The WikiProject talk page would be a much better place to find them than your own. Huon (talk) 23:36, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

I was meaning finding additional sources for the information found in the book so that it's not just a repetition of one source like it is right now. Also I wanted more sources for information on the film's release, reception, and legacy. I have added some more information on the film's reception but it still needs more information. Information on the film's home media releases aren't even mentioned in the article and should be added.--Paleface Jack (talk) 02:56, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

The WikiProject will still be your best bet when you want to find editors who can help with that. The {{help me}} template will summon people who can provide editing help, but likely not subject-matter experts. Huon (talk) 00:41, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Though experts would be nice right now I am focused on editing and finding sources.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:54, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Reception sections

Hi there. "With" is a preposition, not a conjunction. That means that when you try to construct a sentence like, "Rotten Tomatoes reported an approval rating of 14%, with a rating average of 4.2", this is improper grammar. Also, per the manual of style, we spell out numbers less than ten. The previous wording in The Beast Within already did this, so I reverted your change back to the grammatically proper version. The phrasing that I've standardized on for RT may seem a bit stilted to people who prefer informal language, and I don't have a problem if people want to change it. However, I do think an encyclopedia should use proper grammar and follow its manual of style. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 16:17, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Leather Face

Hey there. I'm a little interested, but I'm not that into doing character pages as they are just...kind of hard to do. I'll see what I can contribute though as you guys have done a good job. I'll at least be able to contribute to the talk page to see how I can contribute. Thanks for inviting me to it!

I'd also suggest posting it on WP:HORROR and WP:FILM to see if anyone else would want to contribute. Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:23, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

No problem. I agree with you on that, character articles are a lot harder to do. But as a writer I was interested in trying something new. As for posting it on the horror and film WikiProjects, I have already done that on WP:HORROR but I doubt that anyone will pay attention to it since WP:HORROR is pretty much a dead page except for the occasional promotions to good and featured articles. I will post it on WP:FILM and see if I get anymore helpers. Thanks for the input.--Paleface Jack (talk) 15:29, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

I've been so out of major editing of articles, I don't know how many other editors are out there doing that right now (at least for horror related articles). We had such a small, active community to begin with from years ago, I don't think it's stayed. It'll just take time. I apologize I haven't helped more, but I'm basically working two jobs right now at my work, so it is taking most of my time. As for getting characterization, you look through books, DVD commentary, and film reviews for it.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:32, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

No Problem, I know how it goes. Thanks for the help.--Paleface Jack (talk) 01:12, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

FAC

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. --Laser brain (talk) 12:10, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

Texas Chainsaw suggestion

The image that was being used as the primary identification for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (franchise) was deemed "unnecessary" by you. Would it be more feasible, in your opinion, for me to replace it with the franchise logo? DarkKnight2149 22:47, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

RE: Leatherface

I hope so. The film was completed a while back, so the lack of news has become a bit worrysome (in my opinion). According to the special features on the Texas Chainsaw 3D blu-ray, Texas Chainsaw Massacre was intended to be Lionsgate's next big horror franchise after Saw was completed. A new Saw film is set to release in October. I wonder if their might be a corralation. NOTE to Outside Readers: Because this is speculation, it technically doesn't affect the articles mentioned. DarkKnight2149 18:22, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

The Leatherface article

I plan on continuing to expand Saw: Legacy, Leatherface (upcoming film), Hellraiser: Judgment, and Draft:Friday the 13th (2017 film) as information continues to become available.

Do you need any assistence with User:Paleface Jack/Leatherface (Revision)? I think two bits of information that might be useful:

  • In this interview with the New York Post, Tobe Hooper says that (in addition to Ed Gein), the creation of Leatherface was influenced by Baby Huey.
  • In this quote from Gunnar Hansen, he details that in the original Chainsaw film, the reason Leatherface wore masks was that the masks were meant to determine his personality (since he doesn't have one beneath the mask). For instance, he wore a Grandma mask when he was making dinner and he wore the Pretty Lady mask + a suit when going to formal situations. DarkKnight2149 01:31, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

DarkKnight2149 01:31, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

Alright. I'll help contribute to the Leatherface article. If I have time, I might also take a look at the other articles you mentioned to see if I can lend a hand. DarkKnight2149 04:00, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

Solange reception

Hi Paleface, I saw a few years(!) back you added an expansion tag to the reception section of What Have You Done to Solange?, I feel it's adequately expanded for a film that was not released in the UK or US on its initial theatrical release. You added the tag a while back. Is it good to remove now? Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:57, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Film stubs with notability issues

Hi Paleface Jack, considering your stated philosophy on stubs, I think I'm working along the same lines. I have compiled a work-list of film stubs that have been tagged for notability and I am going through it trying to resolve what I can, where possible. I am not driven by inclusionist or deletionist motives, but I do just wish to go with the grain of others working along the same lines, if possible. So, I saw your notability tag on That Strange Person and also noticed that the short animation seems to have won two prizes in film festivals. I would think that, given the class of the film, this would be enough to make it a notable short film entry. Any thoughts? Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 23:55, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Thank you Hoverfish, it's nice to see that some people have noticed. In regards to your question, it's fine so much as it's has enough sources (articles that are only able to procure a single source are never noteworthy) and proper citations/footnotes. Judging by the article, it's noteworthy enough, however I changes a couple of things on it since it has no footnotes (gotta have footnotes).--Paleface Jack (talk) 03:34, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Begotten

Hi PF-Jack, I'll be happy to try and help. Most of the articles I get from things like Monthly Film Bulletin and such are from a local university. I'll do my best to get there this weekend to check it out. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:34, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

That's completely fine. I was on vacation for the past couple of days so I haven't really been working on the article either. Take all the time you need, it's not like the article's going anywhere.:)--Paleface Jack (talk) 15:08, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

The Good Article Nominations Page Needs Your Help!

Good Articles: Film needs the help of willing reviewers!

Hi there. You nominated an article for evaluation against the good article criteria some time ago, but I noticed you have yet to review an article yourself. Although it's not mandatory, it would be helpful if every user who creates a nomination also reviewed at least one other article, as this would help clear the massive backlog. Reviewing someone else's article can also help you in the long run: every article reviewed brings yours one position closer to the top of the nominations list! If you worked on the article you nominated, chances are you're already familiar with the six good article criteria. It really isn't hard to review, and may take an experienced editor only a few hours to complete. If you have the time and would like to help, please click here, take a moment to figure out which article you'd like to review, then click on its (start review) button. Thank you for reading, and if you need assistance with your review at any point, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page and I'll respond to you as soon as I can. Slightlymad (talk) 09:06, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Leatherface work-in-progress

I recently managed to put in those small rewrites you requested at the Leatherface draft, as well as the integration of information from the Leatherface (2017 film) into the draft and a small addition pertaining to the characterization in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. If you think I left anything out regarding the small rewrites, or if there is any more information from Leatherface (2017 film) that you feel I may have left out, you can let me know. In terms of the Characterization section, I think we have most of the information except for the 2003 remake and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (I will begin looking for interviews, sources, ETC, pertaining to those films). DarkKnight2149 04:04, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Small re-write (the 2017 film)

Greetings again, Jack. Regarding the sentence you added to the release section of Leatherface (2017 film), I can see what you were going for, but my only issue with it is that Wikipedia generally doesn't consider rumours notable and the a couple of the sources don't appear reliable. Would you be fine with it being re-worded as:

"The film was originally slated for a 2016 release window,[1] which it did not meet. Despite having reached completion, it was temporarily shelved by Lionsgate Films.[2] Sherwood speculated that the studio might have been afraid that they wouldn't make back their investment after another film underperformed, but admitted that he had no concrete explanation for the delay:[3] "In a strange way, I started to romanticize the idea it became some legendary lost film. It would be coveted – something spoken about, something people would try to contrive some way of seeing, something that would show up on a tired unused media at a convention in 50 years."[4]"

Alright. Has there been an announcement as to when HR:J will be released?--Paleface Jack (talk) 23:03, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Not yet. News has been strangely dry lately (though it can be partially chocked up to this statement that the director gave to Dread Central in their editorial; you'll have to scroll down a little bit to get to the quotes). It was originally supposed to come out sometime this year, and the director's website has said "Release information coming soon" for a couple of months now. I've heard rumours that the film was better than the studio expected and they are debating whether or not to give it some kind of theatrical release. However, they aren't confirmed or debunked yet. It was announced as direct-to-video, like the most recent Hellraiser sequels. DarkKnight2149 00:30, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
So you don't have to scroll through the editorial, the statement I am referring to is when director Gary J. Tunnicliffe said "We’ve decided, the studio and myself, to stay tight-lipped now until the film’s release next year. It seems to me that any images or fodder given out in good faith are kinda twisted around – usually to the negative – so the best response really is the film itself I suppose." This is one reason there hasn't been much news, though I think there is more going on behind-the-scenes in regard to the lack of release date so far. DarkKnight2149 00:38, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Great news. I finally found a rare interview with Robert Jacks on Leatherface. This interview with cast and crew might help, though I haven't read it yet. DarkKnight2149 19:04, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

Nice! I've been looking for something on that guy for a while. Nice find.

Crimson King

To be honest, I don't think there's a lot of expansion that can be done for this. Flagg is a character that's been around since the start of King's career and has been extensively covered in numerous sources so there's a fair amount of real-world information (I.e. who Flagg is based off of, how King got the idea, etc). The CK in comparison is fairly limited, he's only had a few small appearances (as opposed to Flagg who was the main villain of two books) and I don't think King has talked much about him.

One source I might recommend are Bev Vincent's books as he offers a fair amount of analysis in them. If you don't have access to them I have some copies and I can try to look for some quotes for you to use. The comics, if you have those, might have some supplementary information as well.

One thing I did was modify the article from "fictional character biography" to "appearances" and separated the novels from comic.

Let me know if I can do anything else.--CyberGhostface (talk) 03:05, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Leatherface cite needed

Greetings again, Jack. Regarding the Leatherface thing, the first sentence ("Sam Strike plays Jackson, born Jedidiah Sawyer, as one of the four inmates that escape the mental institution, before ultimately becoming the eponymous Leatherface after enduring tragedies that destroy his cognitive stability) is cited in the Concept and development section and on the official site external link. The link to Sam Strike becoming the character was added by another user after the film was publicly released on DirecTV. It's wider release is next week, so that is when I will be able to watch it for myself (I haven't read the Plot section, just to avoid spoiling myself before I see it). As the signature weapons, I assumed they already cited at Leatherface but, after taking another look, they aren't (among many other things, which I think is a major reason that developing a draft was necessary). I will find a source for that shortly. DarkKnight2149 01:07, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

Great. Did a little expanding on the Leatherface draft recently. I'm still gathering more information from the remake timeline.--Paleface Jack (talk) 01:47, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

Hey, what do you make of these sources for the international DVD/Blu-Ray release date ([1], [2], [3])? Using Google Translate, they say that the international home video release is in December and that there will be an Uncut version. I'm not sure if this should be added to the article, as I am not familiar with the reliability of the sites. So far, I haven't heard anything regarding the dates for the United States and other countries, though I would assume it probably happen around the same time. DarkKnight2149 01:06, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

They seem reasonable to me. Unless someone else says so. On the topic of that, I did find an interview with Sam Strike that you could use. Here it is: Sam Strike Describes Unleashing "Leatherface" It's unfortunate that the film is receiving the reviews that it's getting. My bet is that since most critics were not wanting a prequel/origin story to the character that it led to them giving it negative reviews. People should really go into a prequel film as if it's the first in the series and view it with a neutral and unbiased standpoint... (sighs) Oh well.--Paleface Jack (talk) 15:33, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

Peer review

Darkknight again. I think Leatherface (2017 film) is nearing completion (aside from its December home video release, and any new tidbits of information that get released by then). I plan on moving on from it to the other articles (such as the Leatherface and Begotten drafts, as well as Draft:Halloween (2018 film)) fairly soon. In your honest opinion, do you believe it is ready for a peer review? Cheers. DarkKnight2149 03:00, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello DarkK. Good to hear that the Leatherface film article is nearing completion. I will try and take a look at it as soon as I can and I will let you know if there is anything else we can add to it.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:22, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

The article is looking good so far. We might want to include any TV interviews with any of the cast/crew members on the film. I did post one link to an interview with Sam Strike. I also noticed that actor Chris Adamson's character is not named in the article and we probably should fix that. I will make some minor edits to this article in the mean time for certain aspects that need to be adjusted. Overall this article is so close to getting peer reviewed, we just need to take care of some of the above mentioned possible issues that reviewers might pick apart. Good job.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:41, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Glad to hear it. I added the interviews a few days ago, as can be seen in the Cast and characters section (including the one involving Sam Strike discussing his role that you posted). I can search and see if I left out any other TV interviews; I also added one where Sam Strike and Lili Taylor are talking to journalists about the film. The reason that Chris Adamson's character wasn't added sooner was because there was no source for it; now that the film is released, adding it shouldn't be a problem. I wish there were more interviews that existed for other actors, such as Finn Jones, Vanessa Grasse, and Sam Coleman. Sadly, they haven't been very vocal. Almost there! Just a few more tweaks and small addition and I think this is ready to go. It's sad that the film has not received quite as much attention as it should. Regardless of what people who don't like origin stories and give origin films bad reviews because of their dislike of what is essentially an explanation of how certain characters came to be who they are (Star Wars prequel trilogy is a great example of an origins storyline that was both hated and liked). Reading the plot line of this film, I am surprised that this film received the mixed reception that it did, probably because of both my above mentioned theory and the fact that some people felt like the film was not the same style that they are used to (sighs). Now that I'm done "ranting" shall go to my corner like the Blair Witch told me to. See ya later.;)--Paleface Jack (talk) 17:10, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
