Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics

Caso contrário vou tentar me virar.

Falo a sério.
Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 00:30, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Tens razão. É melhor deixar a "onda passar". Cá esperarei novidades. Parutakupiu (talk) 00:32, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello Parutakupiu! I am very interested to talk with you. How can I contact with you? I need some of your sports pictures to print them in a shirts. To sum up, I need your copyright. Thanks. Marc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.147.94.146 (talk) 16:45, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello Marc. You can use the pictograms as much as you like because I released them into the public domain, thus they have no copyright. Cheers. Parutakupiu (talk) 17:50, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much! Your pictograms are very nice! Regards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.23.167.139 (talk) 22:30, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Olympic Games back up for FAC

I wanted to let you know that the Olympic Games article is back up for FAC. You were instrumental in helping it through the process (albeit unsuccessful) last time, I thought you might like to know that I'm making another go of it. Your help would be appreciated if you have the time. H1nkles (talk) 01:44, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Rio 2016

Olá Parutakupiu! A Comissão de Avaliação se foi, e é hora de concluir o artigo Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Fiz algumas modificações no artigo, e agora falta apenas a seção "Candidature project". Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 20:37, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Cumprimentos. Parutakupiu (talk) 23:27, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Quanto as referências, delas eu cuidarei. Obrigado pela ajuda! Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 23:57, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
OK. Parutakupiu (talk) 00:20, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Abraços; Felipe ( talk ) 00:47, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Parutakupiu (talk) 00:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 01:14, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah, ok. Percebi mal. Parutakupiu (talk) 01:27, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Falando nisso, você poderia reescrever a seguinte frase?
The period proposed by the ROCOG to stage the Olympics is from Friday, August 5, to Sunday, August 21, 2016.[77] It is proposed that the Paralympics commence seventeen days after the Closing Ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics with the 2016 Summer Paralympics Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, September 7, and the Games being conducted through to Sunday, September 18, 2016.
Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 01:44, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 21:53, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Parutakupiu (talk) 22:02, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 23:31, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Cumprimentos. Parutakupiu (talk) 00:13, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
É verdade, só percebi isso agora. Como devemos chamá-los então? Felipe ( talk ) 15:41, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Parutakupiu (talk) 22:26, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Felipe ( talk ) 23:26, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Parutakupiu (talk) 23:35, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Felipe ( talk ) 00:57, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Feito, temos o GA status. Felipe ( talk ) 23:39, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Óptimo. Parabéns... e mãos ao trabalho! Parutakupiu (talk) 23:41, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Felipe ( talk ) 23:54, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
;) Parutakupiu (talk) 00:07, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject Athletics

Thanks for signing up. I won't be asking too much of members, the biggest advantage will be a centralised forum for discussing pan-athletics article issues. I think I also owe you some kudos/an apology (delete as appropriate) because I stole some of the WikiProject design from WP Olympics – I believe you designed that, no? The Olympics WikiProject page is one of the best I've seen and (being completely useless in terms of code/syntax etc) it helped me out a lot in getting things sorted! I hope you don't mind. Cheers! Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)WIKIPROJECT ATHLETICS NEEDS YOU! 16:59, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I know. I uselessly put too much pressure on my shoulders about something that shouldn't be stressing, but entertaining and pleasurable, like helping out a Wikiproject. As for the graphical layout, don't trouble your mind over it - I also "re-branded" it from another project! Good luck. Parutakupiu (talk) 17:20, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Anabela

You helped me work on the Anabela article a few months ago. Now I've finally procured a picture from the Teatro Politeama, but I'm still waiting on their letter for OTRS (I should get it tomorrow morning). Take a look at the article and see the photo. :) Mike H. Fierce! 21:02, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey, awesome (and huge!) photo. Btw, weren't you supposed to have an interview with her? How did it go? Cheers. Parutakupiu (talk) 21:10, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
It was supposed to be published before Eurovision but she didn't finish the questions until this past week. Now that I'm working full-time I'm hoping to have it published sometime in June. Mike H. Fierce! 06:58, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics

Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 00:06, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Parutakupiu (talk) 00:18, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Felipe ( talk ) 00:30, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Err... algum. Parutakupiu (talk) 00:35, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Atenciosamente; Felipe ( talk ) 00:47, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Nada ficou pronto no fim-de-semana afinal.
Atenciosamente; Felipe Menegaz 20:49, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Olá Parutakupiu! Gostaria de avisar que finalmente eu concluí o artigo Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics, e nomearei um Peer review ainda hoje. Atenciosamente; Felipe Menegaz 21:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Olympics Portal

Hey I noticed that you've done some editing (a while back) on the Olympic Portal. I was wondering how one gains the right to edit this portal? I've nominated a couple of DYKs for inclusion and I would like to be able to add more content as it meets GA or FA standards but I don't know how to become eligible to edit the content. Any help on this would be appreciated. H1nkles (talk) 19:04, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

H1nkles, you don't need any special permission to edit the portal. Even though it's a different namespace, it's just like any other editable page in Wikipedia. Edit away! This portal sure needs some editors :) Parutakupiu (talk) 19:08, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok thanks, it does seem somewhat stagnate but with so many projects going at once it's hard to know what to focus on. I'll tinker around. H1nkles (talk) 19:12, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Olympic pictograms

Hello, I noticed that you were the original creator of the ice hockey pictogram. Could you please take a look at this discussion where a user (near the bottom of the page) has expressed some concerns about the pictogram used. Could you please weigh in on it? Thank you, Scorpion0422 15:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Watch over FLCs

Hello again, could you do me a huge favour and keep an eye on the FLCs for List of Olympic medalists in snowboarding for List of 2006 Winter Olympics medal winners? I will be going away for a week, and I would appreciate it if someone familiar with the Olympics can watch them for me. You would not have to do anything major (like looking for new refs, re-formatting, etc.), just minor things and enough to keep the noms open until I return. If you could, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Scorpion0422 15:46, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Sure. No prob! Parutakupiu (talk) 20:02, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

I didn't do this favor in a quest for awards, but I appreciate the gesture, Scorpion. Thank you. Parutakupiu (talk) 22:02, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Peer review

Parutakupiu (talk) 19:04, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Olá novamente! Parutakupiu, estou elaborando a lista Evaluation of the Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics, após comentários no Peer review. Atenciosamente; Felipe Menegaz 21:06, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Esqueça o pedido acima... :) Felipe Menegaz 20:23, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Re:Replace infobox?

Thanks for improving that infobox. When I created it, I went the quick/lazy route with intentions of later improving it, but I forgot. The problem that was brought up about using pictograms in the lead (and I agreed) was that it gave the impression that they were official images although I agree that the pictograms work well. The best option would be to have an alternate option for an image. -- Scorpion0422 17:13, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Matti Närhi

Hi. I am searching for information about Finnish Ski Jumper Matti Närhi.

Matti was on the faculty of a college I attended in Michigan USA in 1965 - 1999. (He died approximately 1968 in a car accident.) Before 1965 he had been a Ski jumping medalist for Finland. I have been trying to update our information about his skiing accomplishments, but do not find him in the list of Olympic medalists.

Can someone give me information about Matti Närhi's skiing background?

Please email me as I may not remember to check this chat site (my email is karindeeverett@yahoo.com) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karin D. E. Everett (talkcontribs) 18:40, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

I believe this sportsman is very unnotable, because there's no record of him at the Olympics or any other major international competition. He barely gets results on Google. I only get a Finnish athlete by that name... I don't think I can help you on this. Sorry. Parutakupiu (talk) 00:33, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Bandy

Dear Colleague! Could you make a logo Bandy, possibly through you make logos Ice hockey & Roller hockey? --Kolchak1923 (talk) 16:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. From what I read about the sport, bandy is very much like ice hockey but with association football rules. In terms of what I can transpose into a specific pictogram, I don't see what I can change from the one that already exists for ice hockey... Do you have any suggestions? Parutakupiu (talk) 17:18, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes there is. Take the logo Roller hockey and replace the rollers skates from Ice hockey logo. In Russian Bandy called hockey with ball (хоккей с мячом). Bandy is not in the washer and the ball and the other stick. See Bandy. --Kolchak1923 (talk) 19:44, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Here it is — Bandy pictogram. Parutakupiu (talk) 20:58, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject Olympics interview

Aloha! I am tasked with the Wikipedia Signpost report on WikiProject Olympics, to coincide with the 2010 Winter Olympics. I have compiled some questions at here, and was wondering if you would be interested in answering them on behalf of the project. Thanks, Ks0stm If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. 19:53, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

That's very nice of you. I wouldn't mind at all answering your questions, even though I'm not as active as before and as I'd like to be. I was just wondering if you have any particular deadline? Thanks for your interest! Parutakupiu (talk) 01:52, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Extremely sorry for piling on, but could you also get to File:1980S emblem b.png? Thank you so much. Connormah (talk | contribs) 04:49, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

I'd strongly encourage you to STOP making SVG conversions of non-free content, or at least content that were specifically designed by individuals to represent organizations and companies (i.e. logos). I have detailed the issues further, here, and would encourage you to join in the conversation. The big issue is that your conversions, while better than some I have seen, are still sloppy and inaccurate, and therefore degrade the logos they are intended to represent, and are basically hand (or computer) re-drawn knock offs of the originals. Since this is non-free content, and our display size is limited anyway, we really don't gain that much with SVG, especially if it means other inaccuracies are introduced (and could possibly be expanded and multiplied by the scalable nature of vector graphics). Thanks for your consideration. -Andrew c [talk] 17:18, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your warning. I've already exposed my view on the topic discussion page. Parutakupiu (talk) 21:39, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Please don't apologise for trying to help! There is no criticism of you or your work intended in the comments over at MCQ. It's just one of these weird things where improving things, as we would normally understand it, makes them worse. Another request

Could you possibly make a vector version of the following image (File:Frederictonarms.jpg), and upload it under a proper fair use rationale? I think it would benefit its quality, as the current image has lots of lossy compression artifacts. Also, could you add the text to the Ostersund Olympic Bid logo from above? Thanks so much in advance. Connormah (talk | contribs) 04:00, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, great work! Could you possibly also do File:Berlin2000.jpg, to finish off at WP:GL? Thanks so much. Connormah (talk | contribs) 05:26, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
I can do that one, but it is not the real Berlin 2000 bid logo [1]. Parutakupiu (talk) 18:59, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I see. We should go with the one in your link, then. Also, could I get an opinion on the Fredricton one? Thanks. Connormah (talk | contribs) 19:06, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

File:Coat of arms of Fredericton.svg Y Done. I hope it's good enough. I didn't create from scratch the cantons in the shield with the Royal Standard of the United Kingdom, I just copied each canton's content from available image files, so this portion is not exactly as the original image. Re:Ice hockey at the Olympic Games: an example!

Thank you, I try my best. I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't win in total medals, but hey, how can one complain about 14 golds? As for the hockey game, I was scared during the beginning of overtime because I thought the Americans had the advantage, but thank god for Sidney Crosby (that is the first, and possibly last time I'll ever say that). Either way, it's been a fun few weeks, and thanks for the barnstar. -- Scorpion0422 01:00, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

  The Running Man Barnstar
For your help not only in getting the 1956 Winter Olympics to Featured Article status, but for all your work on Olympics-related articles. Your reviews and suggestions on how to improve articles that I have submitted for peer review have been very topical and helpful. Thanks for all you do! • Thank you very much, H1nkles! It was a pleasure to have contributed to that article's promotion. I learned a lot from those quite important Games while doing research, so I also gained much from working on it. Parutakupiu (talk) 20:05, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Great Britain at the 1992 Winter Paralympics

A discussion you may be interested in, regarding the notability of Great Britain at the 1992 Winter Paralympics, is currently taking place at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Great Britain at the 1992 Winter Paralympics/1. I'm placing this note as article alerts are currently down. Basement12 (T.C) 16:16, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

On a related theme to the above are you aware of any previous discussion(s) that resulted in a consensus for all articles of the type "Nation at the year Olympics" being deemed notable for inclusion in Wikipedia? WP:ATHLETE says any athlete who has competed is automatically eligible for an article, meaning that any reliable source showing they competed is good enough as a reference for notability (even a source produced by the IOC). If it is WP:OLY policy for the by nation articles to be included (I believe this is the case) then I think it needs to be formailsed in a similar manner - Basement12 (T.C) 08:56, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

New sailing pictogram requested

Hello Parutakupiu, I hope you are well! It has been a long time since we have been in touch. A new editor has started to work on the Olympic sailing articles, and doesn't like File:Sailing pictogram.svg for the navigation boxes because it is anachronistic (windsurfing is only a very recent Olympic event). I agree; I think we need something more generic for all the sailing articles. Can you update the design with something more "traditional", but in the same spirit as your original design for the "stick figures"? Perhaps the pictogram from 1972 gives some inspiration; look at page 500 of the official report . It shows a sailor in a sitting/reclining position with a triangular sail behind him. Do you have time to help with this? Thanks — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 18:47, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey Andrwsc! I'm well, thank you. What about you? How's your kid!? Almost grown up, lol. When I read this request from you, I remembered I did make another version for that pictogram (File:Olympic pictogram Sailing.png). But as you see, it was still in raster format and with the older naming. I've converted it to vectorial format and replaced the current windsurfer image with it. Cheers! Bids for the 2016 Summer Olympics

Hi Parutakupiu! I want to make Bids for the 2016 Summer Olympics a Featured topic comprising other seven articles: Rio de Janeiro; Chicago, Madrid, Tokyo; Baku, Doha and Prague. However, it is difficult to do alone. I wonder if you could help, managing such an article (perhaps Madrid's) until it reaches the Featured article status. I am looking for others who might also help. Best regards; Felipe Menegaz 18:19, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Felipe. I'd love to help, honest I would. But I'm afraid I don't have the time I'd require to fully focus on driving one (or more) of those articles to featured status. Perhaps I can help occasionally here and there, if it's not too much, but not a full article on its own. I'm really sorry, but I wish you good luck... and good work! Triathlon

Like I said, once London comes and goes, it'll be an easy 3b pass. I think it could have gotten through, actually, I'd have let it run out and see what others had to say. (Unless, of course, you have more lists waiting to nominate.) Courcelles (talk) 23:35, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

No, it's OK. I was really torn with this nomination. It has waited so far, it can wait two years more. That way it won't have this length thing crippling it from the beginning. Thanks once again! Parutakupiu (talk) 23:38, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
I wonder if we could make an FT out of all these lists of Olympic medallists? Of course, some of the hardest ones are still to do; Athletics and Swimming for men and women. Shooting and archery will also be pains due to the various events held in the first few Olympaids, too. I plan to send up Volleyball and the sport no one cares about sometime in August, though. Courcelles (talk) 23:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
I would lie if I said that thought hadn't come across my mind before. It's logical taking into account how many of these lists are already featured. But we should go step by step, no hurries. Some lists, like you said, are gigantic... while others (*snif*) need a bit of growing to shape up. I'll be watching those lists of yours. Cheers. Parutakupiu (talk) 23:53, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Medal tables

Just a heads up, so we don't duplicate our work, Sonia and I will likely be sending up the 1992 Winter table within 12 hours, and I've already got a page of notes to do 1994. I'll see if I found anything for '84 and '88 that can be added to those articles, though. Courcelles (talk) 04:03, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Cool. The 1984 Winter Games list could use a little more of info, if you have any. If you noticed, I've decided not to add much too info focused on the athletes because there's a list series for medal winners. One disadvantage is that I don't have an excuse to add more pictures, but that's accessory. The only thing I mention is how much they've contributed to the nation's overall medal count. Thanks for the cooperation! regards. Parutakupiu (talk) 11:07, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
A list series that.. mostly doesn't exist. I'll have to put some work into that once all the Winter medal tables that pass 3(b) get through FLC. (I have 1956 sitting in a sandbox somewhere. There and prior really ought to be fairly easy to make, write, and get through FLC, but most of the medal tables for those games would never make it.) I wonder if FTC would buy "x Winter Olympics", "X Winter Olympics medal table" and "List of medal winners at the X Winter Olympics" as an FT. Nah, maybe not. 1972 Summer Olympics medal table flc

Hey I see you have nominated the 1972 Winter Games medal table at flc and I've just nominated the summer games. This is my first run at a featured list so I'm a little unsure of myself. I tried to follow the patterns of the 1976 Summer Olympics medal table and the 2004 Summer Olympics medal table but yours looks considerably different with a separate highlight section. Would you take a look at the list and see if I'm totally off base for nominating it at this point? I don't want to put up subpar work and waste every one's time. Thanks a ton! H1nkles (talk) citius altius fortius 16:21, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello. The lead for the 1972 Winter Games list was too big, so I was advised to split it: the lead would be (as should) a summary mentioning about NOC medal stats and the highlights section would contain the "firsts" and notable contributions towards medal tally by individual athletes. It was the first time I had to do this in a Winter Games medal table list, because I just had a lot of information to convey which I did not find in other Games. It's not something to be applied throughout... only if there's enough information forcing that.
I'll take a look at your list later, but I think that as far as quality goes, you should base yourself on the most recent featured Winter lists than on the featured Summer lists. Cheers! Parutakupiu (talk) 19:05, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
I'd echo that last sentence; the 1980, 1988, 1992, and 1976 Winter tables are much more recent promotions than any of the Summer ones, all having been promoted in the last eight weeks or so, whereas the most recent Summer table might be two years old at this point- and the Beijing one is showing some rust. Courcelles 19:07, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
True. They seem... empty. I try to mention individual contributions to an NOC's medal tally, as I think it's is notable per se and adds more "texture" to the lists. Parutakupiu (talk) 19:11, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Excellent feedback. Thanks, I'll do some work based on the more recent promotions. I was using the others due to the fact that it was a Summer Olympics table and close in chronology to the 1976 Games. Since expectations and standards subtly evolve I'll focus on the more recent promotions. H1nkles (talk) citius altius fortius 19:20, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)We clearly have different styles, hence the differences between 1980 and 1992 versus 1988 and 1976; but that hardly matters, either can produce a good list. The thing is the four Summer ones to be FL's- and Sydney and Montreal in particular- need a freshening-up. Not tons of work, but it needs doing, and they would be poor choices for models of modern FL standards at the moment. On an unrelated note, once we find a slot to nominate your 1984 and my 1994 lists, I'm not sure how many more of the Winter ones we will be able to get through. They're all fairly short before Saporro, though 1968 Grenoble is a possibility. I'd love to see the 3B changed in the current RFC so more could get through, and you could renominate the Triathlon list, though. Courcelles 19:23, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
