João Sousa nominations

Viva Parutakupiu!

Just dropped by to let you know that I have just nominated again João Sousa career statistics for FL status. You can check it out here. Also, I managed to eliminate the 2nd GAN on João Sousa main article, while keeping its 6-month seniority for the brand-new 3rd GAN. Let's hope this time both articles make it! :)

Abraço. SOAD KoRn (talk) 00:25, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Viva! Glad you could solve that GAN drag, and hope you can get a proper review this time. Same goes to the FLC process. I may take another look at it. Crossing fingers! Abraço. Parutakupiu (talk) 00:42, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

André Silva (footballer)

Yes, I do admit I should have talked to you before reverting, now I elaborate:

1 - I have always written full names of clubs in storyline, compressing them in box, no one has been bothered by that before, just a question of aesthetics. Regarding the storyline, I tried to reach a compromise between your version and mine (so I did not undo all your effort), and I will still try to improve on that today.

I think your reaction was a bit negative (my actions gave you "...the will NOT to edit again in this article"?), but I present my apologies if my editing actions offended you. Abraços. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 21:04, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

OK, let's go bit by bit: 1 - I have already compromised further as far as editing styles are concerned, especially regarding your version of the early CLUB CAREER; 2 - I tried to compose earlier because, for example, I feel "he finished the 2014-15 Segunda Liga" is not very accurate as far as English is concerned, and people can always click on the link too see what season are we talking about; also, after we say "Segunda Liga", no need to explain that it is the second level of our football, if the reader does not know that why are they reading the article (also, the same reasoning, they can always click on the wikilink and see what the SL is)?
About Mr. Silva: yes, indeed, and it does make you wonder why did he start the season so down in the pecking order, and even worse in January! He's Portuguese, that's why, Porto and Benfica have been neglecting the national talent for years, and Sporting, after signing Jorge Jesus, can also kiss its academy goodbye.
Silva should be the starting striker for Porto in the next decade, but we all know how this works, unfortunately... Porto did not deserve to lose today, but that's football. Have a nice week, my countryman, saúde --Be Quiet AL (talk) 21:36, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
I concur with your rationale, as well as your thoughts on fielding young Portuguese talents. Unfortunately, I won't have the nicest of weeks, but at least this season is over... Boa semana! Abraço. Parutakupiu (talk) 22:00, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

More compromise, per your last edits: 1 - "season" should go inside the wikilink, not outside; 2 - thanks for correcting the Last-minute goal link, my bad, but we should not write two wikilinks in a row, that causes WP:SEAOFBLUE which is not advisable; 3 - in same paragraph, say "season" or "campaign", not both, that was why I removed "season" from the start of the paragraph earlier; 4 - OK, if you want to write "." instead of ";" I have no problems with it, but as his name already appears at the start of paragraph, "he" suffices.

Cheers again --Be Quiet AL (talk) 22:20, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

PR request

Hi Parutakupiu, hope you are doing well. I was wondering if you could perform a peer review on Arsène Wenger here whenever you have free time. I'd be grateful for any sort of feedback, cheers. Lemonade51 (talk) 02:23, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Zé Manuel (footballer, born 1990)

Please, to what was this move due if I may ask (the removal of categories https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Z%C3%A9_Manuel_(footballer,_born_1990)&diff=727444020&oldid=727443708)? He played EIGHT games in the Segunda Liga, he played ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY TWO in the Portuguese Second Division, those categories are permanent even if he now plays in the Primeira Liga.

Thank you, happy editing --Be Quiet AL (talk) 04:06, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

I don't think I was unpolite (maybe an exaggerated summary? If so, I apologize), but tudo bem, I won't bother you anymore. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 17:05, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Hey there. You're a bit feisty in your edit summaries indeed, but it's cool, lol. I apologise for removing those two categories during the page move; you're completely right, they are part of his career. Good job on the career prose, as well. Cheers. Parutakupiu (talk) 17:38, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for being so respectful, I have a lot to learn from several users in that department indeed, continue the good work --Be Quiet AL (talk) 17:56, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Olympic host city unknown image

Hi, you could create this picture in Portuguese, please? Thank you.

And you could also create a new pictogram? For Canoeing (Sprint). (K-1 1000 m, K-2 1000 m, K-4 1000 m and K-4 1000 m) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gap5200 (talkcontribs) 12:44, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi. There is already a pictogram for canoe sprint. Maybe you're asking for a pictogram that shows a kayaker rather than a canoer? The thing is that I chose it to distinguish from the canoe slalom pictogram, which represents a kayak. Parutakupiu (talk) 21:52, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
I added the Portuguese version of the image that you requested. Parutakupiu (talk) 22:11, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Thank You! Gap5200 (talk) 00:12, 18 August 2016 (UTC+1)

Hi Parutakupiu, here's another one of your FAC nominations at TFA, I'm working on the TFA text now. - Dank (push to talk) 16:20, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for selecting it! I'll see if something needs updating. Parutakupiu (talk) 19:39, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
There's one problem ... we never say "as of" at TFA; we aim for information that's accurate as of now. I see that you've edited the lead today, which is great ... it used to say "As of the end of the 2014–15 season". Please let me know when you're finished, and remove anything from the lead that can't be updated. - Dank (push to talk) 23:04, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
Yes, the lead is now updated. I also have to update the most recent section of the History section, as it stops in 2013 (my bad). I hope to have that done before September 30. Another thing: maybe having the trophy as the TFA image is not the best idea since it's not something club-specific, as for example a photo of the trophy at the club's museum would? I have the possiblity of getting it, though. May I suggest meanwhile to use the photo of the 2011 Europa League Final? Parutakupiu (talk) 23:25, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks much. For the image, I'll ping Chris. (Chris, would you prefer I ping David for requests like this one?) - Dank (push to talk) 23:30, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
One more job for you ... I've copied your new lead into Wikipedia:Today's featured article/September 30, 2016, in the format we use. The text is twice as long as the maximum length for TFA text. If you can go through deleting the sentences that aren't as important to you, that will be a help. - Dank (push to talk) 23:37, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
Was about to ask you that. Will do certainly! Thanks. Parutakupiu (talk) 23:38, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
"the only Portuguese team to have won these two trophies": the only team to have won either of them, or both of them? - Dank (push to talk) 20:59, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
Trick question. No other Portuguese team has won these trophies, so... "either of them"? Parutakupiu (talk) 21:02, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
Another thing: Ivic and Mourinho still are the most successful coaches in international competitions, as no other coach has since bettered their record. Even if the first is dead and the second no longer at Porto. Parutakupiu (talk) 21:07, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
Suppose Bob used to bring FedEx packages to you, and he was always friendly. Do you say "He is my friendliest FedEx person", or "He was my friendliest FedEx person", or something else? (Just a thought experiment. I know there are Wikipedians who make the same argument, so I've changed the wording.) - Dank (push to talk) 21:34, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Template Help

Can I ask you a favour as the person that created Template:OlympicNationRow I would like to use a similar Template:ParalympicNationRow unfortunately my knowledge of wikipedia coding isn't good enough. I have got 80% of the way through it but if you look at the example it isn't fully working. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated. User:Yachty4000 (talk) 20:09, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

@Yachty4000: there was a subtemplate missing with more options. I've already created a Paralympics version of the one existing for the Olympic template. I've also updated {{ParalympicYearHeader}} to display both Summer and Winter Games. Parutakupiu (talk) 20:56, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for looking at this and getting further than me :-) can you take a final look at why it isn't displaying the example correctly the year data isn't showing. Just out of interest so I can learn what was the subtemplate missing and then I can look at how you fixed it. Many thanks in advance for your assistance with this. User:Yachty4000 (talk) 09:25, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Not sure I understood your concern, this time. Could you please specify? Parutakupiu (talk) 15:16, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Sorry if you look at Template:ParalympicNationRow there is example data in a number of the years that isn't showing? Any ideas? User:Yachty4000 (talk) 14:05, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
@Yachty4000: you mean some years showing as grey and unlinked in the heading row? That is normal, because the table is rendering data for the sport of sailing, which has only been contested at the Paralympics since 1996; before that it wasn't a Paralympic sport. Parutakupiu (talk) 14:51, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
That bit I understand however it should show how many people competed in the years data is entered but all that is working is the total field. Sorry I wasn't clearer and thanks for being so helpful with this I am still learning :-) [User:Yachty4000]] (talk) 19:16, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Got it, Yachty4000! I had to different also Summer from Winter Games years in the {{ParalympicNationRow}} code. It's fixed now. Parutakupiu (talk) 18:31, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
A star thanks User:Yachty4000 (talk) 20:09, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

New edit needed for Template:Infobox FIBA tourney/World

Since you're the last person who's edited this template, I wanted you to know about this FIBA development (if you didn't already). Shortly after the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, FIBA changed the name of that tournament to FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. The next edition in 2018 will be the first under the "World Cup" name. Think you could fix the template accordingly? — Dale Arnett (talk) 17:46, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

@Dale Arnett: Done. Parutakupiu (talk) 18:06, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch. — Dale Arnett (talk) 18:38, 27 September 2016 (UTC) Update: I just looked at the page for the 2018 competition. The infobox now correctly reads "2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup", but the sub-banner says "18th FIBA World Championship for Women". I know there's syntax in the men's infobox that fixes it for that competition—shouldn't it be adapted for the women's as well? — Dale Arnett (talk) 18:42, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
@Dale Arnett: Sorry about that. Think it's solved now? Parutakupiu (talk) 21:40, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
Awesome! — Dale Arnett (talk) 02:28, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Ski Mountaineering Pictogram

Hi, I am not sure if this exists but is there a ski mountaineering pictogram somewhere? If not, are you able to create it? The sport was added to the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics and is currently missing its pictogram for that page. Thanks! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 02:01, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

Lusofonia

Hi, I don't know if you're still active, but I just wandered into the talk page on the Lusofonia Games that you edited in 2006. The correct English translation is "Lusophone," not "Lusophony" which doesn't exist as a word in Engllish. This means a lot of pages/page titles would have to be changed. But as it is, there are dozens of Wikipedia pages with a non-existent English word in their title. What to do? I am also copying the other contributor on that talk page. Maybe we should continue the conversation there? Bruxism (talk) 05:13, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikimedia Portugal

(English below)

Agradecemos desde já!

Hi! Wikimedia Portugal is the Portuguese chapter of Wikimedia, founded in 2009 and recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation. Our mission is to contribute to the general dissemination of knowledge and culture through the incentive to the collection and creation of content without restrictions on use, modification and distribution, and promote their difusion; we promote and support the Wikimedia Foundation projects, among which Wikipedia, with emphasis on projects in Portuguese and Mirandese.

We would like however to count on the support of (and in turn ourselves support) all volunteers that are citizens, resident, or simply interested in Portugal. Despite being founded in 2009, the chapter has gone through a long period of inactivity that we are trying to overcome. We have sent you this message to invite you, if you are interested, to enroll as associate to the chapter, demonstrate your support to the existence of a chapter in Portugal, and get involved in the discussion of future activities by registering in the mailing list. Recentely, the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee suspended support to Wikimedia Portugal pending, among other things, the support from the community of portuguese editors. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:2015–16 EHF Champions League templates

A tag has been placed on Category:2015–16 EHF Champions League templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Template:FC Porto sections (update)

I'm not too keen on this new update for the sections template. I feel like I'm "forced" to navigate the mouse cursor in a tiny space to choose between three different options for the football pages. I understand the idea of joining everything but I'm trying to look at the update more practically.

Probably it's just annoying me, nevertheless I'll leave you with my opinion.Blahhh23 (talk) 13:38, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

@Parutakupiu: Thank you. I think it's better now, good call on adding the women's volleyball. Even unlinked, it offers the information that we have that section in the club (partially, like the cycling team). Blahhh23 16:07, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

License conditions

Good afternoon! I want to use your picture, which I found on the link https://wiki2.org/ru/Файл:Wheelchair_fencing_pictogram_(Paralympics)_svg , in the presentation on the title page. But I didn't find the license terms. Under what conditions can I use this image? Tutta2024 (talk) 20:05, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello. Here is the link to the original image on Commons, which has a CC BY-SA license. Parutakupiu (talk) 21:09, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

2024 European Men's Handball Championship Statistics

Hi,

Please leave the reference where it is. At the end pf the tournament the template {{updated}} will be gone and we want to keep a reference.

Furthermore, the |url= parameter in {{cite web}} is dynamic and changes each time the EHF updates the statistics. The reference for the "top goalscorers" and "top goalkeepers" is basically the same, except that for the goalkeepers there's the extra parameter |page= in {{cite web}} which can change as well if the PDF grows. --Sb008 (talk) 22:35, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello. Just noting that you didn't include List of 1984 Winter Olympics medal winners in your list of featured content page. The current number is also inaccurate, as it lists 7 but has 8 lists included (and should actually be 9). Hey man im josh (talk) 20:04, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
