Non-free image use

edit

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically Ethnic flag, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:14, 1 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Non-free image use again

edit

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically List of Canadian provincial and territorial symbols, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:47, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Adding a non-free use rationale does not mean that the way you want to use the file complies with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy as explained in WP:JUSTONE. The way you are trying to use these files is almost always never allowed per WP:NFLISTS in general list articles such as List of Canadian provincial and territorial symbols because such usage almost always fails to meet WP:NFCC#8, and this does not appear to be an exception to that common practice. A link to the file's can be added using the colon trick if you wish, but they should not be displayed per item 6 of WP:NFC#UUI.
If you want other opinions on this you can ask for them at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC; you can even start a discussion about these two file's non-free use at WP:FFD as well explaining why/how you feel their non-free use in the Candian article is justified. While I appreciate you at least trying to add non-free use rationales to the files' pages for the articles, any such rationale needs clearly explain how all ten non-free content criteria are stisfied for the particular use, and such a rationale cannot be really written for this type of usage. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:11, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Hiawatha Playfield

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hiawatha Playfield requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://seattleolmsted.org/parks/hiawatha-playfield/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 17:19, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited St. James Cathedral (Seattle), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tympanum. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
