editHey Patfass—thanks for your recent contributions. I noticed your interest in Wikipedia's video game content and thought you might be interested in the video games WikiProject. We've done some great work (over 250 pieces of Featured content and over 800 Good articles), but there is plenty more to do. Come say hello on our talk page, participate in our current events, or let me know if I can help with anything. Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope I'll see you around. -- ferret (talk) 01:43, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
*@Ferret: I already updated your WikiProject Videogames/Members page, as some people apparently don't understand what alphabetically means, and that's the kind of stuff that drives me INSANE!! Ha! Ha!! I'll probably burn out from working on Wikipedia pretty quickly - I don't think my OCD will be able to tolerate illegible entries, for very long... :( Patfass (talk) 05:56, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
WP:VG Comment
editIn response to this comment, I only say that because you keep complaining about the discussion getting bogged down. If you're concerned about that, then you should stop making so many comments that clearly are asking questions, or making statements of confusion that are basically asking for a response. I am not following that advice because I am not the one complaining about discussion being bogged down. Sergecross73 msg me 21:38, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- I asked ONE question, and that question was aimed at Dissident - not you. And you misrepresented the facts when you claimed only two editors had ever asked for this, so all I did was CLARIFY your incorrect fact and ask that people keep their comments in one location. In response, you continuously spammed the discussion over and over. All I was attempting to accomplish was hear from some other people - Ferret got it, hence the reason he was holding off on commenting. Would have been nice if you could have extended the same courtesy - but, whatever... Patfass (talk) 21:52, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
Discussions
editI need you to realize how this works. It's a "takes two to tango" kind of thing. You opened the discussion, and Serge replied with his position. Your immediate response was essentially "I don't want to hear these same opinions", which lead to Dissident's first response on his position, and then another declaration from you of not wanting to argue with the same people. Yes, I know I'm severely paraphrasing. All sides get their say though, and then the uninvolved editors can weigh in from there. There's no benefit to going back and forth with the same people in this case, so let them put in their word, and hope your stated argument sway others. "Getting the last word" from either side just turns into a revolving door. Be patient, others will weigh in, but understand these discussions can move either slow or lightning fast, all depending on how plugged in the participants are. Just to prepare you though, discussions are often not considered done when trying to decide consensus (or rather, ready for a closing statement) until 7 days have passed since the last major comment. -- ferret (talk) 21:39, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- Ok - but that's not quite how it went down. I made my post, Serge misrepresented the facts that there were only two users that ever asked for this, I clarified that point and simply asked that everyone not spread their comments to other Talk pages so we wouldn't be looking all over the place. Then Dissident chimed in (again, with the same recycled arguments), and my response to him was pretty much the same - to allow for others to have a chance to comment. Instead, Serge picked up on that and decided to continue the argument some more (while telling me I shouldn't comment on every post - seriously).
- I get their points and I've heard them loud and clear - and I have no problem with ANYONE joining a discussion and having their opinions heard, including them! But at this point, it seems to be more about the same two people attempting to dominate a discussion by shouting the same points they've spewed at me for a week, when all I was trying to do was follow your advice and get some neutral people perspectives. Patfass (talk) 21:47, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- Honestly, sometimes not replying works better than replying. People can't shout back if you don't reply. You can always wait for the other people to reply, and respond to their concerns instead. -- ferret (talk) 21:51, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hard not to respond to misinformation, but I get what you're saying. Again - I was only trying to follow the guidance you gave, by soliciting different opinions. Instead, I wound up in the same circular conversation with the same two guys. VERY FRUSTRATING!!! Patfass (talk) 21:56, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
Anyway, Patfass, we have gotten some new opinions already on your discussion over at WP:VG, from 3 other editors, so go check them out as soon as possible. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 09:43, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
List of 1st & Ten episodes moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, List of 1st & Ten episodes, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. - So - most of the information is available on IMDB, but even IMDB isn't 100% accurate and so I derived the details from the actual credits by watching the first few minuntes of every single episode (they're available on Amazon Prime at the moment). So - how does a person adequately "cite" something like this??? This is NOT the first time I've run across this incredibly frustrating situation, but I'm definitely open to advice!! Please help me understand... Patfass (talk) 19:12, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
