User talk:Pedro/Archive 10
Words fail me! (well, almost)
Oh my God! Congratulations on making admin. That is so wonderful for you! A quick perusal of my user and talk page will show you I have no chance of catching that brass ring, nor do I want it...but it is always helpful to have admin chums:-D
Yes, I remember the Zoe drama well, and have memorialized it on my userpage <grin>. And, yes, I am a confirmed Wiki addict. Couldn't imagine not editing here. Among my other chores is creating the LGBT Project monthly newsletter.
Anyway, take care and let's keep in touch. And thanks for your help and advice about that IP vandal. Jeffpw 12:20, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
^^
I wasn't sure how to go about it as I did not what to sound threatening; and hence only put it in discussion to try to feel what other editors think; but good suggestion and I will formulate a question (which you pretty much did for me; thanks!) for the candidate. :) Phgao 13:55, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok the question is up. Hope I don't sound that harsh, but it is curious to see that the editor did not mention his block in question 3. I'll assume it was a slip of mind. Phgao 14:06, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Need your opinion
I'm thinking of submitting [1] to WP:RFCN as it has presumably the user's email address in it, which doesn't seem like a good idea. But the user isn't a bad user. What course of action do you think I should take, if any? Phgao 14:27, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok thanks again! Also I find it amazing that Google picked up the page so fast.... [2]! Phgao 14:41, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- Wow! Yes I was wondering a bit about Google... I only found the username through their creation of a new page, and seeing their talk empty, I thought they were a new user. Wow I believe their account was created even earlier than mine! Phgao 14:46, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah it's good to always do checks as while in general a block may not mean much for an admin who blocks hundreds of users/ips each day, it does affect the person, and a wrong one albeit well intentioned, can have some bad effects. Glad this has reached a good conclusion! Phgao 14:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- I emailed the uesr... and got a reply saying that she wants to change accounts, and doesn't want to go against convention. I emailed her all the links regarding changing accounts, and getting the edits credited to her. She is yet to reply back, but thought I'd let you know. Phgao 01:19, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

G'day Pedro, I've involved myself in this rather uncomfortable AfD and would value your judgment here. Tally-ho! Phgao 03:31, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Disc biacuplasty article deleted
Disc biacuplasty is *not* a product but a medical procedure treated with radiofrequency. Why would you consider this article as advertising? It even has its own reimburement code for insurers.

Pedro: I did create the article in my personal page for you to review. I also edited the content to avoid commercial reference and I did provide citation to provide source from medical authority. Le me know if I must do more! --Tks

I've done a bit to ensure the article complies with everything it is supposed to. Today you removed the speedy deletion and I, also, made edits to improve sources on the article - however it has been brought up to AfD - I was hoping you could take a look at this and give me suggestions or opinions as to whether or not I should further contribute to the article and/or wait until it has been processed through AfD. Re:Speedy Deletion Declined
On Eclipse (Warriors), I put it up for speedy deletion, because we still don't really have confirmation that the book exists. The exact same thing was done for the old working title for the book, Shadow of the Stars, and everyone who reviewed it for deletion, said to delete, because "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball." By not deleting this, because it's the exact same scenario, is that not a little hypocritical and rather unfair? --~|ET|~(Talk|Contribs) 10:19, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, I get it now. Thanks for the explanation. ^_^ And thank you for the offer as well, but I think I can take it from here. --~|ET|~(Talk|Contribs) 20:48, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
iMX article deleted
Hello, yesterday you deleted my iMX article (tagged as Advertising). I just wanted to describe what the iMX software is and what it does. This software developed by Codix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CODIX) is used by thousand of users around the world, in large companies such as Atradius, Cetelem, France Telecom, Finaref, etc. I don't want to make advertisement, just to say it exists. I found many other articles of software products (famous ones: Microsoft Windows, Adobe Photoshop, etc.) and not so famous, like for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eximbills. If you still treat the article like an advertisement, please, tell me which part to edit to make it fit the Wiki-requirements. Thank you CodixImx 12:01, 18 October 2007 (UTC)# CodixImx
AFD/ Richard H. Holm
I nominated the article Richard H. Holm for deletion after you denied the speedy deletion request. This is my first time to do this and I hope that I did everything correctly. Illinois2011 18:24, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
My RFA
Thanks for voting on my RFA! Although ultimately it was unsuccessful, I do appreciate the feedback. The "obnoxious template" issue you mentioned is certainty legitimate. As I have said it was a mistake to create that template, an honest attempt to create a template that would apply to all unencyclopedic list (i.e. be general in that it would apply to not only a References in Pop culture list, but also a trivia list, for example), but still be firm enough to get the point across just came out horribly. The rush thing, in my opinion, was perhaps an issue that shouldn't have happened. I am rarely in a rush and obviously when doing something as consequential as deleting a page I would of course make sure I had all the facts. I believe that had I just left the rush phrase out, it would have been viewed as a fine response, but I was merely trying to indicate that I would lengthen my reply later - not that I had made a decision quickly (which I had not). So obviously I will need to work on improving my wording (perhaps language such as "short-answer" would better apply) and I will obviously not create a template such as the obnoxious one again, and hopefully I can gain your support for next time. Thanks again!--danielfolsom 22:30, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
RE: iMX article deleted
Hello Pedro, Thank you for your quick answer. Yes, I admit there is COI. Honestly, I haven't read the WP:COI article before posting, otherwise I could post it from another username (with another email), you know. Anyway, I tried to put a neutral info.
So about the absence of notability and the reliable third party sources to back up the text, I'm sending you a list with publications concerning iMX software developed by Codix:
Sponsorships of Factoring conferences: http://www.bcrpub.co.uk/paris_0305.pdf http://www.factors.org.uk/news/RecFinanceConferenceProgramme.pdf
News about implementation of iMX at IFB - International Factor Belgium, a KBC Group subsidiary: http://www.factorscan.com/folder_detail.aspx?id=CF0D22B4-A689-4816-A167-FA1855C1BF37&hl=Codix&exact=0
As I said the iMX software is used in large companies, by a large number of people. Although most of these companies don't put info of the core software they use in their businesses, we have large contracts with them and we can prove it for example with our balance sheets, so you can have idea of the amount of money we earn from them.
Thank you for your attention. CodixImx 09:48, 19 October 2007 (UTC)CodixImx

RfA thank-spam
Thank you! Thank you for your help in my RfA. It hammered home a few things I need to keep in mind while admining and passed with a final tally of 40/0/4; two people forgot to vote in time, leaving me short of that exquisite number :-(, but I'll just have to fudge the next vote about me. Adminship feels slightly august but not particularily exalted, so I shall endeavour to consider it a toolkit and make sincere efforts to know what I'm doing before using it. Regarding userbox summaries, I've turned reminders on but still consider using just a subsection's name sufficient when there's no particular reason to say more, and would like to hear from you if you disagree. --Kizor 14:01, 24 October 2007 (UTC) |
Guidance on how to set a category to a page
Hello Pedro. I am trying to set the category to the page Disc biacuplasty that I have created. Can you have a look and tell me if I did it right? Many thanks!
--Lucdesaulniers 15:25, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Pedro. BUT I have a little restriction concerning the category "Surgery" you have added. In back pain medical field, surgery is an intrusive medical procedure where usually the surgeon replaces the disc. Disc biacuplasty is totally the opposite. Its a minimaly invasive procedure (two needle like probes are use) and there are no danger, to the opposite of surgery.

Dearest Opposer,
- Hello again, Pedro. I'm awarding you a barnstar.
The Barnstar of Diligence | ||
I, Rudget, award Pedro this barnstar. Your community contributions since Marmite, have been outstanding, but not only that, diligent, as the title would suggest. Your continued presence at both Requests for adminship and Articles for Deletion has led to Wikipieda becoming a welcoming place for all who both use ir for research and experience. I would to say something else also, your efforts at my request were noted and taken into account and I'm now going to be conducting an evaluation of my failed attempt, but would just like to say to you, without a user such as yourself, me and others wouldn't have a clue where to go after it [the request]. With the deepest of sincerety, Rudget Contributions |
- Also note that I've been giving out alot of barnstars recently, it's not because I'm trigger happy, rather because as I gain more experience in Wikipedia, I'm coming across users which I know I can trust. Regards, Rudget Contributions 14:49, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- Marmite comes from here.
Re:Semibeings.
I just wanted to thank you for declining that persons request for a speedy deletion. I work and can only devote a certain amount of time to learning all the Wiki protocols, but that being said I did read enough to know that I with the Semibeings article I am breaking no rules that I can tell. I'll work on cleaning it up though. Big thanks. Hayashiantibush. 38.118.17.104 13:00, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Violin Memory deletion
hi
you deleted my article on "violin memory", marking at as G11 (blatant advertisement). i think you are completely off the mark. there is nothing being advertised there. it is a company which accomplished something that nobody else could and it has been talked about in the media. there are no products being advertised there, no solicitations to buy, etc. the only thing the article has is information about the company. you might not think there isn't anything noteworthy about it, but what the company did is quiet revolutionary in its field, and if some company accomplished something of that scale in a more conventional field, you'd probably think otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luchnikov (talk • contribs) 13:24, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
RfA (A4T)
I've enabled my e-mail (thanks -- I didn't know that was expected). I originally had had it enabled but undid it when I got a couple of silly e-mails from people who wanted to chat about irrelevant stuff that I didn't have time for. I do, however, have time for relevant e-mail.
I will find the time today to answer the questionnaire, etc., properly. I don't want to do a slapdash job on this of all things!
Thanks again for helping to make this happen. Cheers, Accounting4Taste 13:56, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've answered the questions -- if there is something customary I've neglected to do, or if you think I've mistaken the type of answer that is wanted, please let me know before you transclude it (your advice would be VERY welcome). I've tried to be honest, because it doesn't seem like a time to dodge the hard answers, but if that's not the best policy, let me know. I also want to say thanks for the way you wrote my nomination. Frankly, you seem to have picked out the things that I'm pleased with, or that I like to think of as my hallmarks (like leaving the welcome template along with a speedy notification for new editors). I guess you will also figure out that I learned my second principle, about "retain every editor who cares to contribute", from you -- imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!!

My RfA
Thank you for participating in my RfA. As you may be aware, it was closed as "no consensus". Since your vote was one of the reasons why it did not succeed, I would like to personally address your concerns so that I can reapply successfully. Your concern was "your rather tight response regarding edit summaries is very off putting - It's a pet peeve but admins should use them all the time (just as editors should really, but it's more important as an admin). In addition concerns raised by WJBscribe push me into this section. Sorry."
I have enabled the forced edit summary preference, and have given more complete response to WJBscribe's comments at User talk:WJBscribe#My RfA. Please let me know if this resolves your concerns. —Remember the dot (talk) 01:36, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Non-support comment
Hi there: I got my first comment that wasn't "support" ;-( which is fine -- except I don't think it's accurate. Is it within the boundaries of permissibility for me to respond to this? I don't intend to be impolite or argue with the guy, just point out that (a) I've done a lot of editing on a lot of different articles, including the occasional conflict, and (b) the reason my last 1000 or so edits have been administrative in nature is because, as I said, I decided to back off a bit after my run-in with the guy outlined in my answer to question #3... I intend to go right back after I've taken some room to breathe. What's the customary thing to do? Accounting4Taste 01:28, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
