Prose
editHi,
It looks like this is going to be a very interesting article! I like where you're going.
One thing to think about is when it is useful to use a table or WP:List. It's generally preferrable to use prose, unless there's a lot of unique detail information. For instance, I'm wondering if the information about the fur traders could be put into prose...
For instance for: Fur Trade Era Residents
- There were three key fur traders, all with spouses of the Métis Native American tribe, that traded at the fort in the 19th century. Jean L'Ecuyer, who was married to Ma-Na-Tee-See, transported goods for portage.[1] Francis Le Roy (1784-1849) operated as a fur trader from about 1820 to 1828. His wife was Therese L'Ecuyer. Pierre Pauquette (1796-1836) was married to Therese Josephine Crely.
That also gives you the flexibility to add additional prose / content that might not fit the table format. Just a thought. The next two sections seem to make sense to be in tables: 1) fair amount of detail and/or 2) a number of individuals.--CaroleHenson (talk) 00:00, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- One thing you may want to bear in mind it that some editors may question the addition of list / table type information as not being in alignment with the intentions for Wikipedia articles. See WP:What Wikipedia is not. The point becomes is the information notable - meaning that people would be interested in reading about it.--CaroleHenson (talk) 00:46, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Tweaks
editHere's a couple of tweaks that I've made and the reasons:
- headings - just the first word should be capitalized, unless the heading is a proper noun
- category - changed [[Category to [[:Category so that the user page doesn't show up in the list of articles for these categories
- grouped by century - I moved up the 19th century info to the 19th century section... but now realize you might have had a reason for having them below. I'm happy to move them back if that's the case.
Also, I'm not sure if you're interested, but I rotated the image of the river to
I just plunged in, not quite knowing what you're looking for, but I am happy to help (and not help) in any way that is best for you.--CaroleHenson (talk) 00:31, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
