Speedy deletion nomination of Michael Bruter
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Michael Bruter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Gérard Lhéritier
I'm always trying to reduce "Category: X people" to zero. In Lhéritier's case, he was one of several "French people" categorised, I've recently sorted Irish, and there are so many more! X people by century is always useful. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 08:07, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

I look forward to teaching you the basics of editing at Wikipedia:Meetups/UK/Senate House Library Nov 2015. On a slightly more serious note, as it will be about local history, I will be mentioning "Nearby" on WP Mobile and the value of adding coordinates to articles ... DT obits
Good to see you back starting new articles the obits, lest we forget. When people say there is no hurry, perhaps they are wrong after all. Edwardx (talk) 18:22, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- They are so stubby, I fear they may evaporate overnight. Apparently there is more than one military Hurry (or Urry): http://bcw-project.org/biography/sir-john-hurry Philafrenzy (talk) 19:52, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Craven Street
The article Craven Street has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- unsourced and no indication of WP:notability. Wikipedia is not a directory of street names
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Deletion discussion about Judith Jesch
Hello, Philafrenzy,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Judith Jesch should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Judith Jesch .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Proposed deletion of Caroline Arscott
The article Caroline Arscott has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Book series
I like library catalogs, but I do not think WP needs to duplicate them. I'd advise you to reconsider the book series you have been entering--it makes me very unhappy to feel obliged to delete material of this sort, especially in one of my favorite subject areas like medieval history. If you are going to list selected titles, it might help to give a reason for them. DGG ( talk ) 08:37, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- I won't get carried away, but I have to disagree with you about the significance of book series. See Seminar Studies in History, Home University Library of Modern Knowledge and Variorum Collected Studies for examples of how such articles can develop. Category "Series of non-fiction books" provides many more examples.
- Such articles reveal notable scholars who have been overlooked, allow discussion in the article of scholars who are not separately notable, and allow the grouping of individuals by specialism in a way that is not well provided for by the category system. As they develop, the titles can go to a separate list article for readability if long enough. Philafrenzy (talk) 10:06, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Dashnor Kononozi
Please do not blank pages, as you did to Dashnor Kononozi, whatever the reason. Somebody will come to Wikipedia, find a blank page and wonder what on earth is going on. If an article is a duplicate of another, then redirect it. If you feel that an article doesn't belong on Wikipedia, then look at the deletion policy. If it indeed meets the criteria for deletion in your judgement, then nominate it as appropriate. Thank you. — Smjg (talk) 22:40, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- In my experience it will be deleted. Check the history. It's not a valid redirect. Philafrenzy (talk) 22:45, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- That depends on a number of factors. Probably more often than not, a blanked page will be just reverted. Whatever the outcome is, it doesn't change the fact that blanking the page isn't the way to go about it. I see it's been deleted now, but just so you know for future reference. — Smjg (talk) 23:20, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Norsel stamps
Hi Philafrenzy. Thanks for providing the ref for the French Norsel stamp. I understand there is also a British Antarctic stamp with the ship on, could you see if you could find that in your catalogues? Cheers. Manxruler (talk) 15:10, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
- Done, pity both are under copyright. You are doing great work on that ship. I only created it on a whim! Philafrenzy (talk) 15:29, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, I appreciate it. I only intended to add a couple of categories and such to the article, but I suppose I found the ship too fascinating to let the article go right away. Seeing as I've reached what appears to be the limit of what I can find of reliably sourced info on the vessel, I plan to go nominate the article over at DYK today. Manxruler (talk) 15:42, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
- Sure, ships are relatively easy to do in my experience as they tend to appear in lots of databases, particularly if they have been sunk by U-boats (see my user page). There are thousands to do if one had the time. Philafrenzy (talk) 15:45, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
- Certainly. Ships appear in both databases and books. Most of my major work is related to the Second World War, and once a ship has partaken in that conflict in some way, there's usually plenty of sources to work with. I've long since come to accept that I'll never manage to create the thousands of articles I'd like to write, and do a proper job at it. Manxruler (talk) 16:23, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, total misread!
Sorry, on A.E. Sewell my eyes read "Arts & Crafts" in the source but my hands typed "Art Deco"! I'll come back to the article later and correct it, but have to log off in a sec (I'm just about to leave the event at Senate House). My slight excuse is that I had just been editing another article and talking about an Art Deco building! 16:08, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

St John's Church...
Hallo, As far as I know the apostrophe used in titles should always be a straight quote, not a curled one (now checked: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Apostrophes "recommends" straight quote) - I've moved your St John's Church, Letty Green (after it appeared red linked when I mentioned it in an edit summary!). I've had a classic Wikipedia time-sink morning: starting by checking whether that stub I was sorting was linked from St John's Church (it wasn't, now is), then creating Letty Green (seemed unsatisfactory that it was a link to a page which didn't even mention the place), and then on to creating Hertford and Welwyn Junction Railway and various stations etc. All good fun ... except I should have been doing umpteen other things today. PamD 13:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for doing that, and the railway, these curled apostrophes sneak in when one cuts and pastes. Odd that Wikipedia doesn't automatically fix it. I noticed the Letty Green point but unfortunately there is too much wrong with Wikipedia to fix everything by myself so I left it. Fortunately we have diligent members like you. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Thanks for keeping me honest regarding that reference; I didn't realize that site was a wiki-style encyclopedia. After looking around, I don't think I can find a source that specifically says Cote led the creation of Velocium, and so I'm open to removing that entirely. Do you have time to revisit this article with me?--FacultiesIntact (talk) 19:14, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- I have removed that part. I don't think it's a major part of the article and that is the correct process where unverified material has been in the article for a while and nobody can find a ref. I don't have time for Mr Cote right now but if you want to improve it you could suggest a RS for his date of birth? Philafrenzy (talk) 19:37, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you again, but I found the actual reference for that previous piece of information. I don't know what Reference For Business's affiliations are, but the copy on that page is pulled verbatim from the International Directory of Business Biographies. I'm going to go ahead and revert the previous edit, and add in the appropriate source. Just wanted to give you the heads up!--FacultiesIntact (talk) 21:58, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 3
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Julius West (author), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Haberdashers Askes School. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Replaceable fair use File:The Alexandra, New Barnet 11 Feb 2011.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:The Alexandra, New Barnet 11 Feb 2011.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 12:57, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Well done! After your last edit it suddenly looked like a proper article! I don't know why exactly - I just suddenly thought "ah yes". And great photos, too! Cheers 77.96.249.228 (talk) 00:48, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

- Thank you! I look forward to reciprocating shortly. It was Vermelles British Cemetery which I thought was suitably monumental. Now for the next 1000. Philafrenzy (talk) 00:49, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
Hallo, although you linked from the Welsh name you didn't mention it in the article ... and I suggest that using the {{National Heritage List for England}} is better than using a bare URL to link to the same site. Are you clocking up 2000 articles by going perhaps a little bit too fast? Congratulations on the figure, anyway! PamD 08:57, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestions Pam. Philafrenzy (talk) 10:45, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
