- Thank you. I attempted to submit an article today for review. I have worked on it for years. The message I received said I did not have references. But I was never able to upload the article. I gave it a title but could not upload it. So I am not sure how anyone knew about the 33 references. It said I was declined possibly due to being too new or being blocked. I have had a user name and password since 2015 but my user page is 2022. I have submitted one article in my lifetime in 2015 and it is still on Wikipedia with improvements by others. I am not sure what I am doing incorrectly now. Photocher (talk) 22:46, 20 March 2022 (UTC)

- Thank you for replying. I was mistaken in thinking that posting a word document could be converted to wiki. I am too new. I was wrong. The references in the article are from reliable sources. I do not understanding your comment with the descriptive words bulky and inadequate references. I never expected someone to fix it for me but thought it could be edited over and over..by me. I agree that the uploaded document looks bad and some parts were lost in process. I had hesitated to use the subject's first name but that is the way she was known similarly to the way Andy Warhol was known as Andy. I am not trying to be chummy. But I appreciate your point and will correct the document. In terms of tone I believe your comment could have been worded more appropriately. I will seek more tutorials to improve my skills. Thanks from Photocher Photocher (talk) 00:31, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, Photocher, I phrased that inadequately. I'll try again: The referencing is so strangely formatted that this cannot be an article in anything like its current state, and there's so much of this referencing that reformatting it to the point where the draft might qualify as an article would take an inordinate amount of a reviewer's time and energy. If you know that the draft needs editing over and over again, good: please do this editing before resubmitting the draft for approval as an article. I understand your point about Warhol, but "Warhol" is what Wikipedia calls him, for example: "Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books, and feature and documentary films". (There are a few exceptions. One is that Madonna Ciccone is called "Madonna" and indeed has an article titled Madonna; this is because she's very rarely referred to as "Ciccone".) -- Hoary (talk) 01:12, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

editDo NOT resubmit until you have learned how to properly reference. Use your Sandbox as a place to create refs, then copy/paste into the draft. David notMD (talk) 21:28, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will study more. I have been confused between edit source and visual editor especially in the reference section. Some tutorials recommend wiki syntax and coding such as three apostrophes for bold and many other codes. With persistence I hope to learn how to properly write references. Photocher (talk) 23:10, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Quick advice: Skip the visual editor. It's a good idea, but not (yet) matched by its implementation. The basics of editing "source" are simple; it's only when you get on to tables and the like that "source" gets complex. -- Hoary (talk) 02:18, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
- Consider thanking User:Wizzito on Wizzito's Talk page for the hours put in converting your ref list to real references. David notMD (talk) 10:09, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Conflict of interest editing
editI have to notify you of Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest policy. Please read and familiarise yourself with the details. It is likely IMO that the article needs to be flagged and possibly discussed at the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard (COIN). Your user page will also need to have a declaration.
Basically this means you should not edit any article with which you have a pre-existing and/or external relationship.
This situation - where a draft has already been established - is new to me, so others may be better-able to confirm the next steps. Volunteers at COIN are better-experienced than myself.
You can respond here if needing further clarification. Thank you.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 18:10, 30 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I knew the subject (the person) as a fellow photographer within our conference. (SPE conference). We never worked at the same college. What are my next steps to insure that I have not broken rules. I know that personal, subjective or undocumented statements are not goals of Wikipedia. - Thank you. This information may be helpful. I got to know Winnett better after her death than when she was living. By researching and studying her images I begin to understand her art. Her widower gave me access (at my request) to her archive in his home in 2012. I have spent a decade studying hand-written notes, letters, scrapbooks and photos. What a valuable experience. Her widower will eventually donate these items to a university archive. He is adamant about not making money from her life. It has been 28 years since her passing but he is still devastated . - Hello. I hope your day is going well. I would like to resubmit my draft article, Merry Moor Winnett. I have proof read the article daily. Over the past eleven days, I have made a few minor changes (mostly verbs) to make the sentences clearer. So, I suppose I just click the resubmit button? Lots of people (editors from Wikipedia) have been gracious to assist with this article. If there are weaknesses or other problems, I will learn from them. Thanks, Photocher Photocher (talk) 18:09, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the update; my opinion is - and will remain - that you should not be attempting to write/submit this bio article. I will not make any more edits to, or comment upon, the draft. I hope the reviewer(s) will be diligent in reading this. This general situation has happened before some years ago in similar circumstances, and my opinion in that case hasn't changed, either.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 14:30, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- So, to be clear, the reason (to not submit the article) is because I knew her personally and my research is invalid (subjective). I appreciate the knowledge of the rules that you have helped me understand. In the world of art history writings, the most reliable research is first hand information. It is different from the rules of Wikipedia. Photocher Photocher (talk) 16:32, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

- Thank you for reminding me. I should have deleted the article. In the last six months, I have learned a lot from the community members of Wikipedia. I learned how to visual edit and how to establish reliable sources. It has been rewarding to add better sources and essential information to a few articles.
