Speedy deletion nomination of D. N. Jackson

edit

A tag has been placed on D. N. Jackson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. roleplayer 22:53, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

July 2009

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from D. N. Jackson, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. roleplayer 23:14, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with D. N. Jackson. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. roleplayer 00:03, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

status and advice

edit

It's no longer copyvio, so, As reviewing administrator , I did not delete it. The clearest notability for Wikipedia purposes is that of a college presidenr nd President of the ABA.

However, the article needs to be written in correct Wikipedia style--see our guide to writing Wikipedia articles . We do not use html; we use our own codes, which you can insert from the row of buttons above the editbox. I changed some of it. For details, please see the relevant parts of the free online version of How Wikipedia Works by Phoebe Ayers, Charles Matthews, and Ben Yates (also available in print)

More important than style , though, are references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, --the preface to his book is not really an independent publication, though it is an adequate source for routine facts about his life.

File source problem with File:Wiki-jackson.jpg

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Wiki-jackson.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:54, 19 July 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NW (Talk) 14:54, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Amy K. Downey

edit

The article Amy K. Downey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject of this article does not meet the notability guidelines at WP:BIO.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Pais (talk) 11:40, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
