Global Lifeline

I noticed that Spook left you a note about your article Global Lifeline. I don't think his note explains the situation completely. He should have mentioned that Wikipedia is not just a list of links. Please read that article and also WP:WEB which explains what it takes to make a web site notable enough for an article in Wikipedia. Remember, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and encyclpoedias are only supposed to include topics which are important. There are so many millions of web sites, that guidelines have had to be developed to decide which sites are notable enough to be included. Global Lifeline might be a very fine site, but in the end it fails WP:WEB. If you want to reply, please do so on my talk page.

Editors

I have used Wikipedia for some time now and find the code a bit of a problem sometimes, is there any software that would help make it easier and less time consuming to get the design looking good on pages. pjb007 11:58, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Howdy. The place to ask questions about using Wikipedia, is Wikipedia:Help desk. You'll want to clarify your question a bit though: an example page would help provide context. I've glanced through a couple of your recent contributions, and it doesnt look like you are working on a graphical-layout (eg portal) design; so you probably mean you want help with typographical design? Headers and paragraph spacing and such? For that, I'd suggest the Wikipedia:Guide to layout or other parts of the Manual of Style. And otherwise, just examine&copy the wikicode of good articles.

Thanks for your reply, and for looking at my recent contributions, I have only done basic edits really, but would like to do a bit more than just simple editing

I thought some people used editors, as in the Recent Changes list there are some articles listed along with the text “using .....”, I just wondered which editor was best to use for design purposes. pjb007 20:46, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, there's an overwhelming list at Wikipedia:Tools/Editing tools, including Wikipedia:Tools/Browser tools (those others are using things like autowikibrowser which is more for experts, or popups which is kinda fun). I'm still not sure what you mean by "design purposes" though? If, for example, you just want more consistent whitespace, then only use a single blank line between paragraphs, instead of two :) --Quiddity 21:33, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Userboxes

Re the question you asked at User_talk:Xaosflux#GUS_userboxes, I'll answer for Xaosflux (one less thing on his list of things to do):

The location of the userbox had changed from template space (Template:User male) to Userspace (User:MiraLuka/Userboxes/User male), per the German userbox solution - which is why xaosflux updated the userbox. Peter Kay article

Yeah it happens some times. Programs used also sometime register the wrong person. For example on my vandalism reversed list, there are at least 10 reversals that I did not credit for because someone else did it at the same time.Gdo01 19:49, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
