Two comments:
- There is about 10 minutes of silence at the end of the clip (it's 29 minutes long for 18 minutes of audtio)
- Could you explain some of the terminology used by the pilots and WSOs? I can help you put it into Wikipedia format.

Can you get rid of the silent ten minutes? I couldn't find out how (Roxio Audio Editor).
Yes I have the entire commentary writtten out in .rtf. I HAVE FAILED TO UPLOAD IT BECAUSE WIKI WILL NOT ACCEPT .doc or .rtf and I don't know what else to do or how to associate it with the previous uploaded audio.
I labeled this one Weasel_1 because there are at least six more. It takes me many hours to sanitize them, removing all the barnyard talk that men in combat typically use. ---plumalley
- One could even make an argument that all the "barnyard talk" should be left in for historical posterity.

editAs suggested, a more appropriate location for the transcript is the Wikisource. This is a sister project to Wikipedia whose purpose is collect original documents such as your transcript (Wikipedia focuses more on the encyclopedic entries). editThank you very much for contributing your Wild Weasel audio clip and transcript! It is really amazing to see a piece of history like that, and to have to provided by one of the people involved. As User:Emt147 said, the best place for this kind of thing is our sister project, WikiSource ( http://www.wikisource.org ). I will ask those people if they would be interested in more transcripts. Chrome Dome
editThere is a section on Alert Duty in the B-52 Stratofortress article. I think the map would be appropriate there. The Incirclic map is again very interesting. One minor suggestion is to place links to images at the very top of the paragraph right under the heading title. That way, they will be visually associated with the text. Unfortunately my knowledge of aviation history lies more in the technical aspects than maps, airbases, and routes, so I'm afraid I'm of no help with Powers. - Emt147 Burninate! 04:36, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

editYou know, I wondered if this was Maj Thorsness and Capt Johnson's mission when I first read the transcript. Thank you for sharing this incredible historical artifact! I have renamed the Wikisource article to Wild Weasel mission 19 April 1967 (the old "part 2" link will still work) and added some information and links to the Air Force Association article about the mission to that page. I inquired about what was going on and here was the answer:
- No, the image still isn't in the public domain. The images in Google Maps/Earth are copyright to the company that did the aerial photography:
"The photographic imagery made available for display through Google Local is provided under a nonexclusive, non-transferable license for use only by you." -- Google Maps terms of service
- A recent discussion on the Village Pump concluded that screenshots Google Maps are only available for fair use on articles discussing Google Maps itself. Zetawoof(ζ) 01:18, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Thud Ridge -- check my geography please!

Route from the West is OK Route from the East does NOT seek protection of the Ridge. It is a straight shot from just north of docks of Hy Pong to the target areas at, or east, of Hanoi. Route MUST miss China border by, I think it was, 20 ??? miles. That was the exclusion zone. Also, the route from the East was a Takhli route. Surprisingly, the distance is no longer. Tankers over the water, not over Laos. I "assume" your carrier suggestion to be reasonable. --Plumalley

editI concur that it seems like a simple miscommunication. The alternates available should probably reflect the actual bases or just the countries, but not a mish-mash of both. In any case, claims on Wikipedia need to be sourced. If you need assistance finding such a source, I don't recommend me, I'm just a young crew dog (see my user page). editThank you for the offer of a photograph. The dilemma is that Wikipedia is very sensitive about copyright issues, especially where images are concerned. You could upload a photo you have taken yourself. Or, if the photo was taken 1922 or earlier, the copyright (if any) would have expired. Otherwise, I don't see how we can add a photo.

Plumalley, Georgian Terrace
editPlumalley, I have so many questions. I uploaded two photos, one of the Georgian Terrace and one of the Ponce de Leon Apartments, both, of course, in Atlanta. (I'll get better photos this spring - the Ponce has just removed the scaffolds that were in front of it for two years as they've done some refurb/stabilization.) I give walking tours in Atlanta and talk about three of your grandfather's buldings, the two I mentioned included. The Georgian Terrace, in particular, has a lot of history associated with it. The birth place of Arthur Murray's dance studios in the 20s (he was a student at Georgia Tech), the Gone With the Wind gala in 1939 with stars Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh attending, among others, a mafia hit in the 20s, and a George Clooney commercial shot there in 2007 for El Torro vodka.
