License tagging for Image:VerticalStockClass.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:VerticalStockClass.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:13, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Paintball News edit
  • The term "paintball gun" is no longer to be used in any article: please change this wherever you see it! We must use the term paintball marker at all times from here on out. Keep up the good work. RavenStorm, Lead Coordinator
  • It has been strongly suggested by fellow member Three ways round that we add references and sources to our articles and make this our priority for now, as expansion and addition of articles has been slow of late. Go find an unsourced article and get some good references! Together we can make the WikiProject Paintball more authentic and encyclopedic. RavenStorm, Lead Coordinator
Category News edit
  • The player positions pages have been renamed according to game type to be more accurate.
  • Two more subcategories have been created: Woodsball, and Speedball. If any new pages are created that are related to these, please use their respective category tags instead of [[Category:Paintball]]. Thanks!
Priority Tasks edit
1. Find sources for all articles to remove original research issues. Resist the urge to simply enter new information based on your own playing experience (this applies especially to strategy and role based articles).
2. Pages about paintball markers, unless very notable and well sourced, should be either merged back into the main company's page - or a page detailing the company's series of products. Having a single page for each marker model is too unwieldly and yields a lot of stubs.
3. Top priority articles should reach at least C class.

Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Phantom1987.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:FirstPhantom.jpg. The copy called Image:FirstPhantom.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and remember exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 17:46, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ComponentConceptsInc.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:ComponentConceptsInc.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:44, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Phantom1987.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Phantom1987.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 20:28, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Could you please explain why the image is not replaceable? J Milburn (talk) 20:42, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Phantom revolution ad.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Phantom revolution ad.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 20:29, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re:Disputed non-free images

edit

They aren't perfect, but I'm satisfied that they should no longer be deleted. Thanks for dealing with this. J Milburn (talk) 21:27, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

The two important parts are showing that the article needs to have that image (so point out that the guns have been described in the article but that the description alone is not enough for the reader to understand what the gun is like, and they could not fully understand the article without knowing what the guns were like, etc) and demonstrate that the images are completely irreplaceable- no one could create a free image. Also, you may want to crop them down as well as upload them at a lower resolution so that only the important parts are visible, and so that they are only as high a resolution as they need to be. J Milburn (talk) 21:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for putting in the effort here, and thank you for your respect of our non-free content guidelines. If I can be of any help in the future, you know where I am. J Milburn (talk) 22:53, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:VerticalStockClass.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:VerticalStockClass.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 09:12, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Phantom action.gif

edit

The file File:Phantom action.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 15 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
