Welcome to Wikipedia!

The Multiple Barnstar
@User:Popfox3; I would like to take some time and welcome you to Wikipedia as a registered editor. It is unfortunate, and can be discouraging that as soon as you have registered and begin contributions to an ongoing discussion, to be accused of Wikipedia:SockPuppetry. I applaud your WP:CIVIL manner in responding to such claims, and would like to present you with two (technically 3) WP:BSes. The Original Barnstar, as an indication that your input - regardless of how long you have been here will be "fine contributions to Wikipedia...." and "to let [you] know that [you]r...work is seen and appreciated." Please don't get discouraged by the poor welcome you received, and continue to help the rest of us refine and improve this online enclopedia. Secondly, the Your Opinion is More Important than You Think Barnstar. This one I post here as an indication, that though some editors have made indications that your input is void, I recognize that your contributions are more important than they think. For all intensive purposes, this compilation of Barnstars is known as The Multiple Barnstar. Let these recognitions set your mind at ease, and serve as a welcome, as you and I both know we are different users/editors. Any 'investigation' will prove us hereafter, and only throw shade at those who accused. How humorous it'll be once that's discovered. Cheers m8! --DisneyMetalhead (talk) 23:12, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you |@User:DisneyMetalhead for your kindness and courtesy. I apologize for unintentionally creating drama when I entered what was already a tense discussion. I have a passion for the DCEU and have visited the DC Extended Universe page very frequently for the past 4 years as a resource. So obviously, this is the page that I wanted to contribute to when I initially wanted to ease my way into becoming a Wikipedia editor, as I wanted to give back to a page that had given me so much. And I was passionate about the discussion relating to the status of the page and had been keeping up with it since it started, so naturally I wanted to voice my perspective on the matter. In fact, I would have contributed to the discussion much sooner had I not had a very busy past few weeks. I never expected that my contribution would have led to this and am clearly upset and stunned, but I have remained as civil as possible because I don't want bad blood with people that I would love to work with in the future. I also have no intention of being an SPA as others have already accused me of being as well. I was starting off as an editor with a page I was passionate about, but my other interests include film, television, video games, history, politics, etc. and I plan on branching out in the coming days and weeks. Anyway, thank you for your warm welcome. Once all of this is over, I look forward to working with you and everyone else to improve DC Extended Universe and any other pages where our paths may cross! :) Popfox3 (talk) 05:22, 9 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation

edit

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DisneyMetalhead, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Apologies

edit

@Popfox3: I apologize for the fuel I added to the fire referenced above; by my naive assumption that IP addresses were how accounts are verified. I am not very tech-savvy, and my experiences on Wikipedia have typically included editing as opposed to the drama and debates that have recently occurred. I would assume an admin will notify us both when the SPI is finished. Honestly, I've never read enough on here as to how SPIs are resolved. I edit WP in between my very busy schedule... I hope this is resolved quickly, and that we both can get back to our own lives and WP editing. I'm sure we'll "cross paths" in the future. Cheers!--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 01:36, 11 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@DisneyMetalhead: It is okay! I would like to clarify a few things for you, as I read up extensively on SPIs after it was indicated that one would be filed. If a "Check User" is performed, as it was in our case, then IP Addresses are indeed checked and verified. While you rather unusually and boldly asserted that you could and had determined our IP Addresses were different, you were not wrong in believing that IP Addresses are sometimes checked to resolve SPIs. Also, I'd like to point out our SPI is closed and came back "unrelated"! You can see this if you go to the bottom of the investigation page where admins, etc. can make comments, and I believe an admin made note of it in the relevant section of the ANI thread as well. Again, I look forward to potentially working with you in the future! :) Popfox3 (talk) 03:26, 11 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Popfox3: I knew it would be determined one way or another, as we both know we are not the same user. Completely ridiculous claim though I guess there were some 'odd coincidences' for certain editors. Thankfully the admin was able to end that "witch hunt" I've started calling it. I hope your future Wikipedia experiences are more positive than this one has been, but I'm sure it feels nice to be vindicated as a new editor. We'll see you around the WP hyperspace. I commend your WP:BOLDness in the respective talk page and applaud you for vocalizing your opinion and insight on the matter. Cheers m8!--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 04:30, 11 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
