Hi! I noticed your userpage, it's amazing. That picture of Niagara Falls is really nice. If you're on a mobile phone, go to edit, and turn the saturation up a bit, and it'll look even better. Nice username, by the way. Stay safe, Thanoscar21talk, contribs 14:09, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- There is a new beta version of the Wikimedia Commons app for Android. It has a new zoom function when you look at images. It can also suggest places when you upload geotagged photos. [1]
Problems
- There was a problem with the Commons database on 27 May. Commons could not be edited for eight minutes. Because of this problem the database was moved. This caused another short read-only time on 29 May. [2][3][4]
- The Vector skin had a problem where you couldn't add links to the article in other languages. You couldn't see the section if there were no links to other languages already. It also removed content translation links and links to language settings. This has now been fixed. [5]
Changes later this week
- You can get a notification when someone links to a page you created. You can turn these notifications off for individual pages. You can soon turn them off also in the notifications you get. [6]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 2 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 3 June. It will be on all wikis from 4 June (calendar).

June 2020
Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Martial law in the United States, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 00:19, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- I did not add original research. I only thought an IP was censoring something. Sorry. --Stay safe, ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 00:21, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
AIV Reports
Hi Prahlad,
Thanks for the AIV reports, however a few are questionable at best... an edit filter trigger for 'Users creating autobiographies' does not mean it's promotional. Other Comments:
- User:Daily skin tips - This should have gone to WP:UAA (it's there now), no need for an AIV report for it
- User:RAckk - Let the edit filter do its job. Making a report after 2 Disallows is not really productive
- User:Pablo lapi - I can see why you reported this, but CSDing as G11 the Draft would have worked just as well
- User:Young TJ33 - Literally the users only (attempted) edit was warned by the edit filter, they haven't committed any edits since... no need for the AIV report.
- User:Lokesh9966 - Again, same as Young TJ33
- User:KuareBand - Same as Daily skin tips
In a nutshell, please be careful before making an AIV report, it's heavily backlogged at the moment as it is... adding spurious reports is pretty much biting newcomers I've going to remove the reports above except for Pablo lapi. Cheers! - RichT|C|E-Mail 17:08, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Why did you revert the addition of Diesel and Matthew Lodge to May 31? —Anomalocaris (talk) 10:50, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- Anomalocaris All of the days of the months have PC protection turned on to prevent addition of unsourced content. If they change it they need to cite a reliable source. --Stay safe, ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 10:51, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- I have been a reviewer for years, but I stopped several years ago and just started up again a few days ago. My old practice for day-of-year articles was that I clicked the added link and if the Wikipedia article about the person being added shows that the day-of-year is their date of birth or death as the case may be, I approve the change. Are there rules prohibiting this method now? Frankly I don't care much either way, I just want to follow the rules. —Anomalocaris (talk) 11:00, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- Never mind, I see in the editing window of day-of-year articles it says that ref is required. Carry on! —Anomalocaris (talk) 11:03, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
Unclear on Rejection
I recently made an edit to my grandfather's description on his Wikipedia page (Komal Kothari). I don't see anything wrong/unfactual with it. Kindly elaborate on why you rejected it.

- Hi Kotharitosh,
- If you are editing about your grandfather, then you have a COI. I would recommend you read WP:COI and stay as far away from that conflict of interest as possible, because you may not be able to write about it in a neutral, objective way.

NCIS page
Dear Prahlad,
I'm getting really fed up with this, because I've spent hours making major edits to the NCIS page and I can't get them to save. I understand that I shouldn't mlink to Twitter, so I've tried to delete that link. I now also understand that I can't use external links, but that these need to be added as references, and I now know how to do that.
But I can't work out how to edit my edits to remove the offending links so they're acceptable. I can SEE my edits in the History but I'm afraid to accept 'undo' in case it undoes everything.
I hae even thought of asking to delete the entire page and start again with an identially-named one, but I'm concerned that a) this won't be possible, and b) other pages link to this one and the co,nnection will be lost if I start a new page.
I should add that I am President of this organization, and also that the revious editor (NCISAJH or similar) was also me, but I cpuldn't find the login details so created a new user ID.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm spending so much time on tjis it's unreal. Now that I understand how to do it properly I could make the required changes quite quickly....if I could work out how to get to the source of today's major edits!
Many thanks for your help,
Amanda (aka NCIS2020 (talk) 18:07, 4 June 2020 (UTC)NCIS2020)
- NCIS2020 First of all, if you have a conflict of interest, you should disclose it on your userpage with {{paid}} (see my message on your talkpage). You should also read WP:COI.
- But to add citations easily, go to Special:Preferences, then go to the "beta features" tab, scroll down, and check the "New wikitext mode" box. Reload your editor, and you should see a completely redesigned interface. Click on the place where you want to add a citation. Click the "Cite" button on the toolbar, then click "website". Fill in the forms that you need (e.g. "URL" or "Title"). When you are done filling in the needed forms, click the "Insert" button on the top-right corner, and you have inserted your citation!
- If you are a paid advocate, please don't add advertising or promotional material. Please review WP:PAID, WP:PROMO, WP:COI, and follow the steps listed. Also see my message that I have left to you. Regards, ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 18:25, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, In reply to your e-mail on Nothing Compares 2 U. The detail in my update is verifiable on IMDBPro,I added in line citation to this effect The other detail on dates, locations, creative talent and process etc. comes from me, i.e as the producer of this video I am recognised as author, creator etc.( i.e. per the copyright design and patents act) and the source is therefore my handle Creativo023 which I also added to the page. The new info is totally no-contentious and may be of interest to some of the 188 million who have viewed the video to date. Thank you.Creativo023 (talk) 20:23, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- Creativo023 The only thing that I could see resembling a citation (in the editor, mind you) was a [19] without anything else. ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 20:25, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- HI, I scrolled down to check and there were refs. at [19], [20] & [21] Creativo023 (talk) 20:32, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- Where would that message be? I can't see it on here? Also the last message I sent is not here ( explaining that I was correcting some info on current page )Creativo023 (talk) 20:50, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- I did that, thank you, beside your reminder at 20.38 this is the most up to date info " That may be all right, but citing yourself is usually not a good idea" My missing message reiterates that the info is verifaible plus I added citations and sources. Obviously I'm sharing my behind-the-scene info but it is all non-contentious. Corrected a point about the album cover, there was no photo shoot, the image came from the video and the cinematographer I listed is credited on album for that image Creativo023 (talk) 21:05, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

- Thanks for whacking me, I didn't 'die'it was just late here and like billons of others I don't live in the US. I'm just gonna forget this page, I don't need to do this but I was just trying to share verifiable info I know is of interest to fans etc. and a fact or two from my life, i.e.as one of only 4 people in the room when this video was shot. The matrix of 'trip-wires' that course through WP and impede new posts is risible given the staggering level of inaccuarcy there is already on the site. ( Besides being user-unfriendly this is what WP is known for) Then there are the less than informative 'messages' from 'editors'I'm tired of grappping with this badly designed system. So I'll leave it here and step aside from WP in all it's unwieldy, ill-informed and poorly punctuated glory. Thanks and take care. Creativo023 (talk) 15:12, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

GOCE June newsletter
Guild of Copy Editors June 2020 Newsletter
Hello and welcome to the June newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since March 2020. You can unsubscribe from our mailings at any time; see below. All times and dates stated are in UTC. Current events
Election time: Nomination of candidates in our mid-year Election of Coordinators opened on 1 June, and voting will take place from 00:01 on 16 June. GOCE coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought about helping out at the Guild, or you know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here. June Blitz: This blitz begins at 00:01 on 14 June and ends at 23:59 on 20 June, with themes of articles tagged for copyedit in May 2020 and requests. Drive and blitz reports
March Drive: Self-isolation from coronavirus may have played a hand in making this one of our most successful backlog elimination drives. The copy-editing backlog was reduced from 477 to a record low of 118 articles, a 75% reduction. The last four months of 2019 were cleared, reducing the backlog to three months. Fifty requests were also completed, and the total word count of copy-edited articles was 759,945. Of the 29 editors who signed up, 22 completed at least one copy edit. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. April Blitz: This blitz ran from 12 to 18 April with a theme of Indian military history. Of the 18 people who signed up, 14 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed a total of 60 copyedits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. May Drive: This event marked the 10th anniversary of the GOCE's copy-editing drives, and set a goal of diminishing the backlog to just one month of articles, as close to zero articles as possible. We achieved the goal of eliminating all articles that had been tagged prior to the start of the drive, for the first time in our history! Of the 51 editors who signed up, 43 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Other news
Progress report: as of 2 June, GOCE participants had processed 328 requests since 1 January, which puts us on pace to exceed any previous year's number of requests. As of the end of the May drive, the backlog stood at just 156 articles, all tagged in May 2020. Outreach: To mark the 10th anniversary of our first Backlog Elimination Drive, The Signpost contributor and GOCE participant Puddleglum2.0 interviewed project coordinators and copy-editors for the journal's April WikiProject Report. The Drive and the current Election of Coordinators have also been covered in The Signpost's May News and Notes page. Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, Reidgreg, Tdslk and Twofingered Typist. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Hi!, I saw you reviewed the article. I know it's orphan, I've made wikilinks in some articles to him. But my question, did I do a great article? I mean, its English is or is not acceptable? ^_^ Thank you. CoryGlee (talk) 19:17, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- Your article looks great overall, and the English is great. However, I noticed that the "Biographies" section does not have citations. Please fix that. Thank you. ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 19:22, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I will try to do that ^_^ , I translated from Chinese because I am a very interested person in Hong Kong affairs. It's like a headache to find sources in English about him, it's all Chinese and kind of a nightmare LOL ^_^ -- If by tomorrow I can't find sources to that part I'll tag as "citation needed" or even remove it. :-) Thank you, and a hug. :) CoryGlee (talk) 19:31, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
clarification on Khongso Chin and Anu Chin,
Hi Sir, This is Kimorasem. I would like to share the details of Khongso Chin and Anu Chin in Paletwa Twonship, Chin state, Myanmar. I have been talk with Khongso Chin literature committee in Yangon and Anu Chin Literature Committee in Yangon, Myanmar. I would to suggest that " Khongso "correct spelling is Khongso Chin not Hkongso. Anu spelling is correct but please add on Anu Chin. And please separate the two tribes because According to the Myanmar government, the Chin are comprises (53) different ethnic groups. Khongso Chin and Anu Chin have to stay with itself.Khongso Chin and Anu Chin should be a separate group as they grouped into (53) different ethnic groups of Chin.
Khongso Chin is a Sino –Tibetan language spoken between Kaladan , Paletchaung and Michaung rivers in Paletwa Township, Chin state, Myanmar (Burma). Paletwa Township is a township of Matupi District in the Chin State of Myanmar. Anu Chin a Sino –Tibetan language spoken between Paletchaung and Deletmay rivers in Paletwa Township, Chin state, Myanmar (Burma). Khongso is mutually intelligible with Anu, which is an unclassified Tibeto-Burman language. Likewise, the Mru language of Bangladesh and the Khongso of Myanmar appear to be similar in many ways. One similarity is that of legend. It is important to note that the relationships between these groups (Khongso & Anu) are very complex.
Thank you for your work on Khongso and Anu Chin. Looking forward to hearing from you. I have more details to add on with traditional photo if you wish to do so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kimorasem (talk • contribs) 23:51, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

articles tagged for quick deletion
Hello Prahlad balaji, Would you please note that students enrolled in my WR 121 are completing an assignment in coordination with Wiki.edu. Some have had troubles creating a Wikipedia page for their articles. I have intervened and created several within the last few hours. My intention is to help students having trouble transferring their work from their sandboxes to the mainpage. Would you please for these reasons avoid tagging any of the articles I've recently created for immediate deletion? Recent changes
- Some articles have tables that can be sorted in different ways. For example a list of countries can be sorted alphabetically but you can click on the size column to sort them by size. If you clicked on the column a second time it would sort the countries from the bottom to the top instead. A third click will now take you back to the original sorting. [7]
- Self-closed tags now work as in the HTML5 specifications. This means you should stop using some of them.
<b/>
is an example of a self-closed tag that won't work.area, base, br, col, embed, hr, img, input, keygen, link, meta, param, source, track, wbr
can be self-closed. Pages with tags that should not be self-closed have been listed in a tracking category since 2016. They will be listed in Special:LintErrors/self-closed-tag. This doesn't affect<references />
or<ref />
. [8] - There is a banner called
WikidataPageBanner
. It is for example used by the Wikivoyages, Wikimedia Russia and the Catalan, Basque, Galician and Turkish Wikipedias. It will now been seen by mobile visitors too. Before this it was only seen on desktop. The wikis should update instructions onMediaWiki:Sitenotice
so that editors know to test and style for mobile too. [9][10]
Changes later this week
- You can now edit MassMessage descriptions through the API. This is useful for tools and gadgets. [11]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 9 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 10 June. It will be on all wikis from 11 June (calendar).
Future changes
- A temporary fix helped wikis make their main pages more mobile friendly. This was in 2012. It has not been recommended since 2017. It will not work after 13 July. Wikis should use TemplateStyles instead. 118 wikis need to fix this. You can read more and see if your wiki is affected. [12]
