Shlomo ah, Nice work on the Syriac settlements articles. But don't you think that their Syriac names are more popular than their Turkish counterparts in English?--Rafy talk 09:28, 21 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Bsheyno, dear Rafy! We have to respect that the ground they stand on belongs to sovereign states like Turkey - so we are obliged to take their official name. Besides if you want to look up those settlements at Googlemaps, you will not find them with Syriac names! I will nevertheless create redirects under their Syriac names... Actually we don't have to name the geographical locations by their official names, see for example the articles for Wien, București and Warszawa. If a name proves more popular in English then it should be used. (See WP:PLACE for the official wiki policy)--Rafy talk 15:11, 21 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Settlements Categories

edit

Shlomo, I wanted to merge Category:Syriac settlements and Category:Assyrian settlements into one category or at least create a common sup-category for them. My suggestion are 1) to redirect one to the other, or 2) create a Category:Assyrian/Syriac settlements and redirect them both to it, or, 3) keep them both and make them sub-categories within Category:Assyrian/Syriac settlements. What do you think?--Rafy talk 09:15, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Bsheyno dear Rafy, I really like your proposal and vote for your second suggestion. Besides I wonder if that "List of Assyrian settlements" can be renamed the same way to "List of Assyrian/Syriac settlements"?! I found no way to answer or vote for that option. - Regards, Protossdesign (talk) 09:20, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think the best thing to do now is to redirect Category:Syriac settlements to Category:Assyrian settlements then start a proposal to rename the list and its category to List of Assyrian/Syriac settlements.--Rafy talk 09:31, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am ok with both suggestions... Protossdesign (talk) 10:01, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Satellite Award for Outstanding New Talent, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Derek Luke. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
