I'm not an expert, but very simply at WikiCommons you should not upload any image that you did not personally take yourself, or for which you own the copyright or are sure is in the public domain. Everything there can only be uploaded if it has a free license; that is, the copyright holder has given permission for it to be used. On Wikipedia (but not the WikiCommons) you can upload copyrighted images under fair use, but only in very limited circumstances. For chess players who are living, you cannot upload any fair use images, as there is always a chance that a free license one could be become available.-- Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:28, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

No. This warning was about removing article talk page contents like you did here. To put it bluntly, don't do that. As for the images, you uploaded the same images that previously were deleted as copyright violations. They are not freely licensed and simply acknowledging the source or copyright holder does not make it a free license. -- Whpq (talk) 13:11, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

Sir, I am in a dilemma. How to use images for topics for which you have only 2 or 3 images on Wikimedia Commons and those photos are not appropriate for a section. I am editing Joël Lautier from past one week. I have changed it from a stub to a decent article. But now I can't add photos. Rules are very strict. Sagar Shah is a founder of ChessBase India and he promotes chess in India through his website and a YouTube channel. Amruta Mokal is her wife. Why they will object to use of their photos? Also, how do we know that a photo is not freely licensed?

One of the 5 pillars of Wikipedia is that content is freely licensed. If there are no free photos to use, then there are no free photos to use. It is pointless to speculate if the copyright holder would object. If it is not freely licensed, then you can't use it except under very narrow circumstances as outlined in policy on non-free content. And before you head down that path, the images you have uploaded and which have been deleted as copyright violations would almost certainly fail to qualify for non-free content usage. Freely licensed images almost always will have an explicit license statement identifying the license. As for a Youtube screenshot, some Youtube videos are under a free license but you need to check for that in the video description where it will have a license link indicating reuse is allowed. I would strongly recommend against reviewing Good Article nominations given your lack of experience at Wikipedia, as demonstrated above with your having thought it was okay to include those non-free photos in the Joël Lautier article. (Yes, rules are very strict, and people reviewing GA nominations need to understand them and how they are applied to articles.)
