Your assessments

This [1] is not correct. Having all three of the big sections does *not* guarantee C-class. The sections need to be longer than 1-2 sentences. If a section is cruddy like that, it doesn't count. --Rschen7754 09:37, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry. This was before Dough audited CO and I didn't really understand assessments like that. Thank you for pointing it out to me, I know now that that is indeed a stub. --PCB 02:28, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Kohala Mountain Road

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Kohala Mountain Road a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Hawaii Route 250. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. – TMF 04:59, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Assessments and page titles

Other things I noticed today:

  • [2] - former routes can, and should, have junction lists. In this case, the junction list would show the highway's major junctions at the time it was removed.
  • [3] and [4] are far from B-Class articles. All but two sentences of SR 101's route description and history are unreferenced, and SR 143 has several unreferenced paragraphs.
  • [5] - it is unnecessary to indicate whether the route is former, proposed, etc. in the page title unless there is a need to disambiguate the article to distinguish it from another. In short, unless the number is reassigned and a new article has been made for the new number, there's no need for disambiguation. As far as I can tell, the SR 93 designation hasn't been reused, so the (former) dab is both unnecessary and incorrect. – TMF 05:31, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Also, E-470 is not B-class - the history section is entirely unsourced. --Rschen7754 18:04, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed that you attempted to file a deletion discussion (on the article Rice King) but did not complete the process. Please note that, when listing an article for deletion, a discussion page needs to be made for other users to discuss whether to keep or delete the article. This is typically done by following the steps listed here. Note that if you are editing as an unregistered user, you cannot create a discussion page. Please consider registering an account or asking another user to help you complete the process at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion. Thank you. WikiProject Colorado

The year 2011 has brought many changes to the State of Colorado. Several users have asked us to reactivate WikiProject Colorado. We have a new Governor and other state officers, two new U.S. Representatives, many new state legislators, and a new Mayor of Denver. Many articles about Colorado need to be updated and many Colorado places, people, and organizations need new articles. Portal:Colorado needs some new featured articles.

Can you help us? Please see our list of some requested articles. If you would like to remain an active member of WikiProject Colorado, please leave me a message at User talk:Buaidh or e-mail me at Special:EmailUser/Buaidh. If you cannot help right now, you can go to inactive status and then reactivate your status later. Thanks for any help you can provide. Yours aye,  Buaidh  18:19, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Interstate 270 (Colorado)

The article Interstate 270 (Colorado) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Interstate 270 (Colorado) for things which need to be addressed. I have replied to your comments. AdmrBoltz 02:23, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Just curious, were you just commenting, or were you intending to support/oppose the promotion of I-70 in WV? --AdmrBoltz 02:55, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
I was just commenting. I will support if I have time to actually fully review. --PCB 03:21, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

I-470 (KS)

You've probably noticed that I passed the article at GAN. I did move my review over to WP:HWY/PR so other roads editors can have a look at it. –Fredddie 02:23, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Did you just do that to improve my writing or to help boost it to A-Class? I was never intending to do the latter, and thanks a lot if the former. (Thanks either way). --PCB 02:51, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Either. I've always thought people learn better through practice and then having their work checked. So, the more times you go through the motions, the better your writing gets. Ask Imzadi1979 (talk · contribs) how many times it took going through GAN/ACR/FAC before he knew what the criteria at each level were. –Fredddie 03:03, 23 February 2011 (UTC) PS, I'm watching your talk page, so you don't have to {{tb}} me.
Gotcha, thanks. I'd say I need that sort of practice to avoid having so many comments when people put my GAN's on hold. --PCB 03:04, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

M-74 (Michigan highway)

I'm curious, can you please reply at the GAN page on what issues from your review are left outstanding? If it's just the link to MDOT, the reference has the link. At the time M-74 existed, the government agency was the (Michigan) State Highway Department (MSHD). I don't see a need to shoe-horn in a link and a mention to MSHD in the text of the article. In any event, Michigan State Highway Department redirects to Michigan Department of Transportation (as do the two intervening names, Michigan Department of State Highways and Michigan Department of State Highways and Transportation). The infobox though lists the agency that currently maintains the roadway, the Missaukee County Road Commission, which is how other decommissioned highways are done, like M-554. Yellow Line (Washington Metro)

Quick question: If WMATA is defined in the body of the article, can it be used in the footnotes? Racepacket (talk) 21:39, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

It needs to be spelled out in the footnotes. —PCB 23:45, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

I have posted a revised version of the article at User:Racepacket/WMATA please let me know if the changes meet your concerns. I am also asking to have it reviewed before I move it into article space. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 18:22, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Still a couple of problems. Now the future section is a little bit too short. (Sorry, I made a mistake when recommending that you add it.) The first paragraph of the route section is referenced almost entirely to fn 16. Otherwise, good job. — PCB 22:50, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
I apologize, it may take quite some time before I get to reviewing the sandbox article. You may post it to the article space if you wish. — PCB 03:57, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
The sandbox is for another user to check it for any accidental close paraphrasing. I will move it to article space after he clears it. You are done on K-30, Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 19:03, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Article has now been moved into the article space. I hope that I have met your concerns and look forward to working with you to close out the review. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 14:55, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:38, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your participation in the March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive

On behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, we would like to take the time and thank you for your contributions made as part of the March 2011 Good articles backlog elimination drive. Awards and barnstars will go out shortly for those who have reviewed a certain number of articles.

During the backlog drive, in the month of March 2011,

  • 522 GA nominations were undertaken.
  • 423 GA nominations passed.
  • 72 GA nominations failed.
  • 27 GA nominations were on hold.

We started the GA backlog elimination drive with 378 GA nominations remaining, with 291 that were not reviewed at all. By 2:00, April 1, 2011, the backlog was at 171 GA nominations, with 100 that were left unreviewed.

At the start of the drive, the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 101 days (Andrei Kirilenko (politician), at 20 November 2010, reviewed and passed 1 March 2011); at the end of the drive the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 39 days (Gery Chico, at 24 February 2011, still yet to be reviewed as of this posting).

While we did not achieve the objective of getting the backlog of outstanding GA nominations down to below 50, we reduced the GA backlog by over half. The GA reviews also seemed to be of a higher quality and have consistently led, to say the least, to marginal improvements to those articles (although there were significant improvements to many, even on the some of the nominations that were failed).

If you would like to comment on the drive itself and maybe even make suggestions on how to improve the next one, please make a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles/GAN backlog elimination drives/March 2011#Feedback. Another GA backlog elimination drive is being planned for later this year, tentatively for September or October 2011. Also, if you have any comments or remarks on how to improve the Good article process in general, Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles can always use some feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles.

Again, on behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, thank you for making the March 2011 GA backlog elimination drive a success.

Speedy deletion nomination of Legislative Route 198 (California)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Legislative Route 198 (California) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — PCB 23:12, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Geraty

Hello there, I noticed you had expressed an interest in articles related to Riverside, CA. A couple of us have been working on an article in userspace on Larry Geraty, the former President of La Sierra University and considered one of the more involved members of the Riverside community. If you're interested in helping close the gap to make the article ready for mainspace, we'll certainly appreciate your help at WP:SDA/Larry Geraty. Once its been moved, I intend to nominate the article for a DYK hook and think that it is definitely an article that can be made into a GA. BelloWello (talk) 22:41, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Balboa Park GLAM project

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I recently left a message at WP:SANDIEGO's talk page about a new GLAM collaboration with Balboa Park. I'm contacting you to determine if you'd be interested in participating in the project. The staff there would like to meet with a group of Wikipedians to eventually lead to tours of the museums, image donations, editing collaborations, contests, and other events. If you have any interest at all in helping in any capacity, please list your name at WP:GLAM/BP so we can determine what size group we're looking at. As this collaboration has just started, if you have any questions, comments, ideas, etc., please leave them on the project's talk page. Thank you! --Happy editing!
