Randomly hi! And stuff!
I am randomly glad you are randomly still here doing randomly good stuff!
I ran into your good stuff because I want to turn the hatbox for Wikipedia:Suggestions for disambiguation repair from Needs update to Historical. So I mentioned it on that talk page. And then I said mmmeh, and did it anyway, but I won't fight if reverted. So, FYI, you're so cool, have a nice day! — Spazzing I mean 4 tildes I mean Geekdiva (talk) 12:37, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Invitation re: Fourth Amendment related police procedure pages
Hello Quadell, I'm working on Terry stop and Consent search. Right now I'm doing research and putting some stuff in the Talk pages. I plan on working on this for the next few weeks. The articles, as written, are pretty bad, I would say. So I intend to rewrite them a little at a time. I'd like to invite you to the Talk pages to help me toss some ideas around, if you have the time.
Thanks! Seahawk01 (talk) 02:57, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message
Hello, Quadell. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
Established policy provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have not made any edits or logged actions in the preceding twelve months. Because you have been inactive, your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to activity within the next month.
Inactive administrators are encouraged to rejoin the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to rejoin the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.
Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:07, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Regarding Vepachedu Foundation
Hello,
You took permission to include Vepachedu Foundation. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Successful_requests_for_permission/The_Vepachedu_Educational_Foundation
The contents of Vepachedu Foundation are self-published.
Why did you take permission from them, then? Self-published articles can't be allowed on Wikipedia.
Please explain! Dinopce (talk) 07:27, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- These are merely sources of information. Permission was requested to avoid plagiarism accusations. This is all in line with Wikipedia policies. – Quadell (talk) 10:56, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- So, Vepachedu Foundation's Mana sanskriti and it's articles are trustworthy and can be included in Wikipedia, right?
- Have you included any sources here? Any wikipedia pages where V.F's contents are to be found? Dinopce (talk) 12:49, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Those *are* the sources. All three articles cite their sources pretty clearly. The RFP you link above only concerns specific wording, so that we're not plagiarizing from V.F. It doesn't have anything to do with the sourcing.
- You might be under the impression that the RFP certifies VF as reliable, but it doesn't claim anything about VF's reliability -- it only says that they don't object to anyone using their particular wording. Please, feel free to improve the wording in any way you like. And if you think any particular statements in any of those articles are incorrect, and you can produce sources that contradict those statements, feel free to improve the page by including better information. – Quadell (talk) 14:44, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ok.Understood. I checked those 3 articles on wikipedia. Where have you used VF's contents? I checked the References section. I couldn't find anything. Dinopce (talk) 07:04, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- Vepachedu Foundation's articles are thoroughly researched! I don't have anything against them. I was just curious about the self-publication part.

Where did this list come from?
Given you were the first poster...where did Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/1 come from in the first place? Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 20:28, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- Heh, this was a project several Wikipedians worked on for a bit, before it fizzled out. The idea was, we wanted to make sure that the most import ideas (like language, human history, etc.) had articles that were in as good a shape as possible. We had hoped that eventually, all these articles would be "Good" or better. We just brainstormed our own ideas of what were the "most important" concepts to have articles on. – Quadell (talk) 21:27, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of George W. Lane
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on George W. Lane requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ThadeusOfNazerethTalk to Me! 05:45, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oh dear, I didn't realize you're an admin. How scary! Let me know if this was the wrong use of section G14 - I think the article falls under because there's only one existing article that it links to, but upon re-examining it may be better off being changed to a redirect instead of straight deleted. ThadeusOfNazerethTalk to Me! 05:55, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, no worries. I think what happened is, I created the article as a redirect to George Washington Lane, since there was at least one reference in an encyclopedia somewhere that referred to him as "George W. Lane", so it seemed a useful redirect. Then another user turned it into a disambiguation page, probably hoping someone would write an article about the other George W. Lane... but no one did, and I don't know that he's notable. So I reverted the page back to a redirect. Cheers! – Quadell (talk) 11:37, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
