Speedy deletion nomination of Zheng Chongbin
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Zheng Chongbin, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://zhengchongbin.com/about/. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:50, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
April 2017
editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Zheng Chongbin. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Replaceable fair use File:Zheng Chongbin in his studio.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Zheng Chongbin in his studio.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —MRD2014 📞 contribs 01:07, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

editHi, thanks for message. You already appear to have a draft at Draft:Zheng Chongbin, so there is nothing to release. I deleted your article because
- it did not provide adequate independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, as defined in the link, or they will be deleted. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to him, press releases, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the he claims or interviewing him or his management. His notability appears rest on representation in major collections, yet there are no references to support his works inclusion in these collections. Several of the references you do use seem not to meet the criteria I've linked, but in any case they don't seem to be supporting much that is actually factual, rather than opinions. Even a good reference for an opinion doesn't make it factually true.
- it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of opinions or unsourced claims presented as fact include: the medium itself bears a lot of ideas about philosophy and cosmology... His artworks deconstruct the traditional language of ink painting, while exploring the philosophical depths of Western modernism... stunning, large-scale abstract paintings... radical transformation of conceptual art... His works are represented in public and private collections, including... distinctive style... His lyrical, elegant compositions are appreciated in the West... and so on. It's just a promo for his work, not an encyclopaedia entry
- Your edits indicate that you have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this person, see Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.
- If are him, or if you work directly or indirectly for him, or otherwise are acting on his behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. Regardless, if you have a direct or indirect financial interest in writing about him, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:RLiu23. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form:
{{paid|user=RLiu23|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.
I could delete your draft as it stands, but since you have requested help, I'll give you some time to remove the opinions and find proper references. He may be notable, but you need to show that by referencing his presence in major collections with references from those collections.

editYou shouldn't post your drafts to my user pages, just give a link to Draft:Zheng Chongbin
- When I commented on references to collections, I meant, for example, that for the British Museum, you should have British Museum, United Kingdom followed by the ref.<ref>{{cite web |url= http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details.aspx?objectId=3443552&partId=1&material=19315&page=1|title=Eroded White |last= |first= |date= |website= |publisher=British Museum |access-date=13 May 2017}}</ref> as a reference after the claim, so we can verify that your claim is true
- You are still presenting his and others' opinions as facts. They sought to reflect the polarized quality... should be He claims that they.... That's particularly the case when they have promotional value. For example Zheng's minimalist approach has created a masterful contemporary interpretation of ancient Chinese traditions is an opinion, not a verifiable fact. You should present it as such, preferably as an quote attributed to the person who said it
- Because you present highly value-laden opinions as facts and haven't referenced the museum claims directly, it comes across still as a promotional piece with unverified claims and hand-picked opinions. You have been asked above not to write this piece because of your obvious Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, one reason being that people writing about themselves write gushingly positive stuff like this, and omit any negative comments. You should avoid the commentary and stick to facts
- Just a couple of style matters. Headings should be normal capitalisation (first word and proper nouns only), and the External links should have links only to his web site and his studio. Anything else either shouldn't be there or should be a reference instead. Also don't leave the links as bare urls
- Remember that when this is finally fit to post, you must declare your COI
I'm going to be a away for a week, so any further comments won't be answered before I return Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:04, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
