Help
editI'm not really understanding what's going on here with this delete and merge request; can you explain to me what's happening with the road names? Basalisk inspect damage⁄berate 15:09, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Basalisk: First, a short answer. In 2016, Ministry of Transport published in Official gazette a bylaw which for some roads change category, for some changed only name, and some were shortened, or route was changed, or both. I have created articles for this new categorisation. What I am trying to do is to preserve as much as possible of history of the earlier articles, by moving roads from their old names to new, but that leaves problems, because of redirect pages, which need to be deleted if I am to move to their place appropriate articles. That would be in short.
- Now, for some additional explanation. Old road names are from SFRY, and that is why we had M-2, or M-18, but no M-1. Finally, someone in Ministry has decided that something should be done, so they changed names, but also recategorised some of the roads. Reason for recategorisation is because we have some newly built roads, which are in quite a good condition, whilst some not so important roads that were categorised as main roads (i.e. highway or magistralni in our language) were extremely curvy mountain roads, that were not maintained properly (one has something like 10-15 hairpins going up and down hill). You can find the bylaw here [1]. It is on the official page of Official Gazette of Montenegro ("Službeni list" in our language), were basically all laws from constitution to some minor orders are published. Even thou it is in Montenegrin language it is not so hard to see what it is about. If you need help translating, you can use google translate form Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian to English, it should give you good enough results. Article 3 (i.e. "Član 3") says Highways (main roads) are (i.e. "Magistralni putevi su:"), and then it lists highways. In article 4 you have regional roads, which are then listed on page 2. My reason for moving the articles around is that there was a lot effort put in the original articles, and I didn't want to just ask to delete them. I believe that it is better to move them to their proper new name. Example: M-2.3 highway (Montenegro) had the same route as is now for M-10 highway (Montenegro). So instead of creating M-10 from scratch, I moved M-2.3 to M-10, and made only necessary changes while leaving the history of the article intact. In some cases, I used common sense, because some roads have changed not only name, but also a part of the route. Common sense is that for example if most of the road 1 is now part of the road 2, I would transfer article from road 1 to road 2. And, for the actual deletion I asked, in detail it goes like this: old M-6 highway is now known as M-7 highway (same route same road same everything). I need to delete redirection at page M-6 highway (Montenegro) because now, new M-6 is, well for the most part it is new highway, but some parts are form old M-8. So, common sense, I want to move M-8 highway to what is now occupied by redirection. After that, I will also ask for deletion of old M-8 place, because it is old M-4 highway that would be new M-8. And after that, I need to delete old position of M-4, where I would place article I have already created, but cannot move, new M-4 highway. For the new M-4, I used common sense in that even thou it was part of old M-18 highway, it was a minor part of that road, less then 15%, and I moved the old M-18 to new M-3 highway, which has other 85% of the old M-18.
- I know that all of this is complicated, but I really don't like to delete old stuff that someone else wrote, unless I am sure it is wrong, or that it can be improved. What I would like from you as administrator, is that as soon as I ask for speedy deletion, you delete the article so that I can move the appropriate one to its place. In fact,if it is OK with you, and if you understood all of this above (English is not my 1st language, and this is a bit complicated to explain), I will inform you here when I ask for deletion, so that it can be faster, because now I am not happy that it would take maybe weeks if it goes every time this slow.Requiem mn (talk) 15:04, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
