Draft: Philip Caves
Dear @Redrose64: and @RexxS:please help to put Draft:Philip Caves in correct categories. Whispyhistory (talk) 12:00, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Whispyhistory, I've added three obvious categories, but don't worry: once it's in mainspace, other folks will come along and add other categories if they are missing. Some editors specialise in that sort of thing.I've disabled the functionality of categorisation because it's in Draft: space; only articles in mainspace are included in the categorisation system. When you do move it, you'll need to remember to remove the colons from before the word "Category" on each line at the bottom of the article, and that will re-enable the categories. Let me know if there are any problems.
- While I think about it, you really should join WP:WikiProject Medicine if you haven't already, and drop a note at WT:WikiProject Medicine to introduce yourself. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 13:12, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you. Amazing. I've joined wikiProject medicine. I'm very slowly revising User:Whispyhistory/sandbox- in my sandbox. Feel free to look. Whispyhistory (talk) 13:18, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @RexxS: Can you check my DYK nomination for Philip Caves. Not sure if done correctly.Whispyhistory (talk) 17:04, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Whispyhistory, the nomination is fine, although it's supposed to go in the section for the date it was created/moved into mainspace, not the date it was submitted to DYK. I've moved it into the right section for you. I've also put the DYK template on Talk:Philip Caves. I won't review it for DYK because I'm too close to the article, but I've done a DYK check on it and it passes all of the Wikipedia:Did you know #Eligibility criteria. I think others will suggest shorter alternative hooks, so be prepared to engage with them and say whether you like the alternative or not. --RexxS (talk) 17:40, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you @RexxS: I had forgotten how to do this. I noticed you added cardiology task force to Philip Caves. Can you do this for Terence English?. I have a line up pf biographies to come now.Whispyhistory (talk) 17:52, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Whispyhistory: you just have to add
|cardiology=yes
to the {{WikiProject Medicine}} template. I've done that on Talk:Terence English. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 17:57, 23 October 2017 (UTC) - Point of fact: it was me that put Philip Caves in the cardiology task force, with this edit. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:58, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Further research is needed
On 24 October 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Further research is needed, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in a sample of medical reviews, useless treatments were just as likely to be recommended for further research as were useful treatments? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Further research is needed. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Further research is needed), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Sorry
I thought I was careful, but I understand. Median is the one(s) in the middle, so to speak. Now Dnm appears to "gather old facts" - but not the circumstances. After two months possibly at s.wiki, at the talk-page of the article on Josef Stalin, I discussed with someone. We didn't agree, but it was no warring. Suddenly an admin (Wapne, now Yger) came from nowhere, using language like "keep your mouth shut, or I will block you". Later he blocked me. I made a new alias. Was discovered, a quite a few times. It was all about matters like Scania, Copenhagen or Øresund, things that's not interesting for some in Stockholm. I acknowledge that. All of that was in june 2009- into 2011. I never was a troll, supporting myself. Here (as well as at Danish Wikipedia I noticed a quite different feeling. (I speak, understand and read Danish, but as an autodidact, spelling takes too much time - and have never been blocked there) Here, I have never been blocked either, and would naturally accept a block if that happened. I was a beginner at S.Wiki, but many of the admins there, both have, and uses power as it pleases them if wrong perspectives are used (in my case). One interesting example I have found, at sWiki, in Swedish
Direct:

Hi/Hello
Nice you continue as admin one year more. We need a strong team which can collaborate when it blows/are blowing. I have send a mail to you. (MVH =a greeting) Adville
This is, in my opinion, what's going on there. Those living in Stockholm area have physical meetings and make decitions. Or they use "chains of mail" etc. And Adville and Dnm (who both have very low edit-counts here has began some kind of war here. Mainly against SergeWoodzing and DanKoehl - the latter one is refered to in this message "Ingen DANs på rosor", the reason , as it seems, has something to do with a block of Dan Koehl - for A WHOLE YEAR - without any other reason but a personal dislike of him. I think it'´s similar with SergeWoodzing. Many other Swedes have simply left Swiki and contribute here instead. Adville and Dnm are "temporary fighters here" (based on their statistics, manners and tricks)- and Adville now pursue SergeWoodzing at French Wiki, in English "as admin"
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Bulletin_des_administrateurs/2017/Semaine_43
(the only part written in English)
I fear they have some kind of quest here, vengeance or/and control. Also Dnm , now suddenly, appears to investigate my old sW-WIKI. Why now ? Information-chains of some kind, I have to assume. If they loose an argument, they go for something else. Thanks. (and I mean Thanks) Boeing720 (talk) 01:36, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Rex - I'm trying to find some sources on Dick van der Vaart but not having any luck. According to a couple of the local articles, he has made some advancements in hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and in 2013 got a UHMS fellowship, which may or may not be notable. While trying to find info, I'm running into Dutch articles so I don't know what they say, and it may also be that I don't know the correct terminology to look up to find what's needed for his notability, or it could be he's just not notable. Any suggestions? Atsme📞📧 02:22, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Atsme! If sources exist about Dick van der Vaart, then User:Gene Hobbs is the likeliest person to know where to find them. Hopefully he'll spot the ping and join in with whatever he can.
- I assume you've seen:
- "Dr. Dick van der Vaart becomes Honorary Member of BONHATA". Bonaire Hotel And Tourism Association. 10 April 2014.
- That looks a reasonably reliable source in this context, and quotes like "Dr. Dick van der Vaart is internationally recognized and awarded for his work and commitment to diving medicine as well as his local pioneering work in hyperbaric oxygen therapy." speak to his notability.
- For what it's worth, the article in Bonaire Vandaag at https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bonairevandaag.com%2Fdr-dick-van-der-vaart-erkend-als-erelid-van-bonhata.html is just a Dutch version of the above article, but at least it's independent press coverage of the event.
- The UHMS award is covered by the article at:
- Davis, Susan (July 1, 2013). "Bonaire's Own Dr. Richard van der Vaart Honored by Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society". Bonaire Insider.
- One tip is to do a Google search for the exact phrase "Dick van der Vaart", then look at the results for images. Sometimes you find archived pages that are hard to pick out from the web search. Hope that helps. --RexxS (talk) 17:37, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Regarding this edit, telling another editor: "So you know where you can stick your BS about "virtually always a notification", because we all know it's simply not true" is simply inappropriate. JoJo Eumerus mobile (talk) 08:06, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: You're quite right that solutions are possible and ought to be pursued. The key to solving the problem of regular Wikipedia editors not wanting to maintain multiple watchlists in this case would require the association of the image creator with the file page on Commons when the image is copied from here. Otherwise no amount of bots or email messages can possibly inform the original creator once that link is lost. As can be seen from my own experiences, that simply did not happen. I think that the concept of Commons, as a central repository for all media to be shared among Wikipedias (and others) is a valuable ingredient of our vision; but its implementation at present leaves me with no choice but to avoid using it for images that I want to curate. And I don't accept that a handful of OCD zealots who want all free media to be on Commons and nowhere else are going to force me to do otherwise. --RexxS (talk) 17:30, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Student content added to Talk:Gangrene
Hi RexxS, ThisTalk:Gangrene#Citations_and_Small_Additions.2FRemovals is the first group that I thought it may be ok to leave their work on the talk page. Would you mind taking a quick look? They are just missing one citation. If you think moving it to the sandbox first is the best way to move forward, I am fine with that! I moved two other article suggestions to sandboxes, the groups are cleaning them up, and they are almost ready to go back on their respective talk pages. Thanks, JenOttawa (talk) 01:28, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, other than the fact that they forgot to edit while being signed in... I added their names to the bottom. A learning process for all ;). Thanks again! JenOttawa (talk) 01:29, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Jenny. I've treated that first group at Talk:Gangrene#Citations_and_Small_Additions.2FRemovals just as I would any new editors making suggestions for improvements and I've left comments for them. That exchange needs to be shown to Ian, so that he can see how a group of students can use an article talk page exactly as is intended. He'll feel better if he sees that. You could also direct the other groups to that page as a model for how they ought to use article talk pages, and as an example of the feedback that they are likely to get. Hope that helps. --RexxS (talk) 18:15, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback. I thought your note on the Gangrene talk page was helpful, polite, and constructive. I appreciate your patience with the students.

- I am also working on at least three other sandboxes with the students.
- I alerted Ian to the sandboxes and talk pages as he too offered to help.
- Hope you have a fantastic weekend!!

London meetup
Hi, is it possible that you might be able to make it to London 122 this Sunday? There's a relatively-new user (five months experience) called Whispyhistory (talk · contribs) who has signed up; they were at Oxford 53, and I think that you'll find them very interesting, both to meet and to assist. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:12, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Is it possible for you to advise if I have done this correctly. Maybe Redrose64 can review too. Thank you. Whispyhistory (talk) 12:22, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Whispyhistory, as it happens I was too busy today to get to Oxford. We'll have to try to meet up next month hopefully. Your additions to British Society for the History of Medicine were fine, although I've tidied the references a bit: you should always use a consistent format for dates. The other changes I made were very minor, so nothing to worry about. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 19:30, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Whitespace in unnamed parameters
Hi! I have just released de:Vorlage:Charteintrag into the wild and now an old issue of the template seems to cause some trouble again: when writing the first unnamed parameters for the countries (eg |DE|AT|CH), the following new line will become part of the parameter, as the whitespace is not removed. This causes the table to break (I corrected it in [1] by removing the break, which fortunately is the usual use of the template). Back with the old source I was told that I could fix the problem by writing {{#if:1|{{{4|}}}}} instead of {{{4|}}}, can I do something similar with Lua? Thank you in advance. Meanwhile I also have to fix an issue with the linking of the no-1 position, but that should be easier. Best regards, XanonymusX (talk) 19:27, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi XanonymusX! It's difficult for me to see exactly where the problem occurs if I don't have a specific example to work with. But I think the likely problem may occur with the last unnamed parameter. As you know, the MediaWiki software strips leading and trailing whitespace from named parameters, but not unnamed parameters. What we normally do in Lua is use the mw.text.trim function to strip parameters like this:
- Replace line 41 of de:Modul:Vorlage:Charteintrag
countries [k] = v
- with
countries [k] = mw.text.trim( v )
- It's possible that might resolve the problem you're having. Let me know if it doesn't, and I'll see what else I can suggest. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 20:41, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- That was exactly what I needed! Now de:Wikipedia:Lua/Modul/Vorlage:Charteintrag/Test works fine again also with the new line, before the first table didn’t show any numbers for the US column. Thanks a lot, I had read the name of the function already in the manual but was unsure where to use it exactly! So I don’t have to worry about VisualEditor either, as TemplateData always puts the unnamed parameters in the first line and uses a new line afterwards.
- I have also corrected the string.match part in lines 164 to 170 for some unforeseen cases. However, it still isn’t really suitable for all possible cases (although it might already be possible to write it in a shorter way). I have some difficulties thinking of all possible characters that are possibly written into the position parameter. The template should be able to filter out all cases where something else than just
1
is given as position; this includes all numbers beginning with 1 (this is working, even though the explicit exclusion of 11 might cause false positives, if any 11 is ever to be found in a ref after the number; if I don’t exclude it, the returned capture looks like11
), but also cases where the 1 has been manually linked or bolded (these cause problems atm). I’m seemingly unable to exclude matches where the 1 is preceded by any character, but I’m sure there must be a way. Basically, I only want cases in which position starts with a 1 and is followed by anything except for numbers. Maybe you can think of a fitting expression! Thanks and best regards, XanonymusX (talk) 21:11, 17 October 2017 (UTC) - Actually, there is another part of the problem with the unnamed parameters: in [2] I now had to remove pipes at the end of the line (they had been put there in order to prevent the line break from the previous problem)! Lua sees an unnamed parameter consisting of an empty string, I guess. As there can’t be a country abbreviated as an empty string, the template should ignore such a case.--XanonymusX (talk) 21:41, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi XanonymusX! When I'm trying to work out possible matches and tests, I often use this site: https://www.lua.org/cgi-bin/demo where I can put little code snippets and run them. If I try
position = 1 if position == "1" or (string.match(position, "1%D") and not (string.match(position, "11"))) then print("yes") else print("no") end
- then, unintuitively, there is no match. However, if I ensure that position is a string:
position = 1 position = tostring(position) if position == "1" or (string.match(position, "1%D") and not (string.match(position, "11"))) then print("yes") else print("no") end
- then it matches. Now, parameters should always be passed as strings, so position should always contain a string, but it might be considered best practice to force the value into a string before we start testing for strings.
- Anyway, the expression matches if you try
position = 1
andposition = "1xxx"
, etc. But it doesn't matchposition = 11
, which I think is what you want. The site just makes it quick to test simple snippets that you can quickly change. I haven't solved the problem for you, but at least you can test expressions quickly to try to find exceptions. - Finally, it's worth saying that I find that testing for
#variable == 0
is a very reliable way of detecting an empty string value for 'variable' (although you have to be sure thatvariable
is not nil, e.g.if not variable and #variable == 0 ...
). In the case of the empty unnamed parameter, perhaps you might expand line 41 to this: v = mw.text.trim( v ) if #v > 0 then countries [k] = v end
- That should ignore the pipe at the end of a line. Let me know if that is any help. --RexxS (talk) 00:17, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- It worked fine until now, thanks again; but now we found another case, where a user had erroneously given the unnamed parameters as for example |DE||CH|UK| — with an empty one in between! Now, the empty parameter at the end is being ignored, but one in the middle will give an error, as Luna tries to concatenate a nil value (line 141). Obviously people should not insert any empty unnamed parameters, but as it can always happen (and it’s sometimes hard to see a double pipe in the source), I need the module to ignore all empty unnamed parameters. I guess it should be easy, but can’t think of the exact way … Thanks in advance and best regards! —XanonymusX (talk) 11:24, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- @XanonymusX: If you paste the following into https://www.lua.org/cgi-bin/demo, you can see where the problem will lie:
parameters = {"DE", "", "CH", "UK"} for k, v in ipairs (parameters) do if #v > 0 then print(k, v) end end
- The problem will manifest itself as a gap in the numbered indices in the countries table. You can either try to skip the gaps (something like a new line 141:
if not countries[c] then break end
), or make sure that the countries table has consecutive indices – which is a much better scheme. As I don't know where the example was, I can't test it for you, but I would suggest replacing lines 40–43 withlocal i=0 for k, v in ipairs (parameters) do v = mw.text.trim( v ) if #v > 0 then i = i + 1 countries[i] = v end end
- perhaps you could try that and see if it fixes the problem. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 20:13, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- I have followed your suggestion, you can see an example in de:Wikipedia:Lua/Modul/Vorlage:Charteintrag/Test. Probably I should track cases like these, as it not only breaks the table but also moves the columns in a way that wrong chart peaks for wrong countries will show up. However, there were very few cases I found in ns0, so this does not seem to be a major problem (the users will usually notice their mistake immediately). Thanks, XanonymusX (talk) 14:39, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

I guess it should be easy, but can’t think of the exact way … Thanks in advance and best regards! —XanonymusX (talk) 11:24, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

I wasn't aware of the secondary school RfC at VP. Your comments relating to Daffodils English School made good sense. Atsme📞📧 19:15, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
St Rexx High School
Hi. Based on your comment (a reccomendation perhaps?) at this discussion [3], I have decided to add an article to Wikipedia about St Rexx High School. With a Biology pond that looks eerily like the front of the Taj Mahal, a Humanities block that looks like a well known building elsewhere, and obviously a stadium sized sports facility, this school must be notable. It must be international in scope based on the pictures. Surely the website is enough sourcing because I believe everything on this site (and because of the pictures). And I noticed in that AfD discussion that I linked to there are other's of the same mindset. How can such a Wikipedia article go wrong? Thanks for the tip! :>) :>) ---Steve Quinn (talk) 05:49, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
- It should also mention that the fees are very reasonable, too. --RexxS (talk) 10:29, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
- With slots of spam for the school lunches eh ;) — fortunavelut luna 19:32, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
Heard you might be making the trip up North again? :-) odder (talk) 21:07, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Odder: Indeed. I suggested you might like to take the lead for this event, as I reckoned you might enjoy that. If not, no problem. I'll drive up and aim to arrive sometime around 10:30 to give time for any setting up or sorting out. If we have editors who have previously edited a little bit, it might be fun to take them through uploading images to Commons and adding them to Wikipedia. Let me know if you need anything, otherwise I'll see you Sunday. --RexxS (talk) 22:02, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- I would actually be quite happy continuing the arrangement from last year, if you don't mind? Unfortunately @Yaris678 won't be joining us this year, but I hope we'll be able to take care of everything anyway (I remember the situation was quite chaotic at times last year due to the sheer number of participants.) I'm happy arriving at 10:30 as well unless Lynnette/Helen have a different plan, I don't think we needed more than half hour for preparation last year. odder (talk) 00:20, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Odder: That's fine. We can play it by ear as we work out how experienced the audience is. If you don't mind, I'll request accountcreator for you from Richard Nevell (WMUK) in case we need to get accounts created on the day. --RexxS (talk) 01:09, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks; I had an exception to the account creation throttle merged on 24 October (hopefully the IP address is correct this time), but I guess that right might come handy on the day if things go wrong. I suppose we can get some accounts created on Commons (just like I did last year) as a last resort, too; as an admin & 'crat there I ought to be able to bypass all restrictions if need be. odder (talk) 01:16, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- The throttle exception should do the trick, but just in case you're now an account creator (documentation here). I think the loophole where you can register accounts on other wikis has been closed, at least according to this guidance. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 10:03, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Facto Post – Issue 6 – 15 November 2017
WikidataCon Berlin 28–9 October 2017Under the heading rerum causas cognescere, the first ever Wikidata conference got under way in the Tagesspiegel building with two keynotes, One was on YAGO, about how a knowledge base conceived ten years ago if you assume automatic compilation from Wikipedia. The other was from manager Lydia Pintscher, on the "state of the data". Interesting rumours flourished: the mix'n'match tool and its 600+ datasets, mostly in digital humanities, to be taken off the hands of its author Magnus Manske by the WMF; a Wikibase incubator site is on its way. Announcements came in talks: structured data on Wikimedia Commons is scheduled to make substantive progress by 2019. The lexeme development on Wikidata is now not expected to make the Wiktionary sites redundant, but may facilitate automated compilation of dictionaries. And so it went, with five strands of talks and workshops, through to 11 pm on Saturday. Wikidata applies to GLAM work via metadata. It may be used in education, raises issues such as author disambiguation, and lends itself to different types of graphical display and reuse. Many millions of SPARQL queries are run on the site every day. Over the summer a large open science bibliography has come into existence there. Wikidata's fifth birthday party on the Sunday brought matters to a close. See a dozen and more reports by other hands. Links

Reference format options
At other articles I have been advised to use a standard journal citation format that did not include first names, or commas between the last name and the initials for the other names. Hence my attempt to make consistent the citations for Factitious disorder imposed on self. David notMD (talk) 15:35, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- Please don't throw away information that other editors have made the effort to supply. You do not improve a citation by reducing first names to initials, full journal names to abbreviations, or first and last names to a single field. --RexxS (talk) 15:45, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- I also write in paper venues (books, magazines, newspapers), and so brought a brevity bias with me to Wikipedia, courtesy of my editors in those venues. I will try not to be perturbed by the idea of using more than a minimum number of bytes to convey information. David notMD (talk) 16:02, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- @David notMD: I should have guessed. Please don't let me put you off improving bare urls and other defective citations, though. To give some perspective, by the way, there are probably about 1 million uses of {{cite journal}} on Wikipedia, so if you could save 100 bytes in each cite, you'd reduce the server space used by 0.1 Gigabyte – saving no more than around $0.005. Really not worth it. (Yes I know you have to multiply that by the number of versions kept in the history, but you see the scale of it.) Cheers --RexxS (talk) 17:01, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Help for module
Hello. A user told me that you know about modules. I need help to create one. I want a module to show the most recent value (according to d:Property:P585) of d:Property:P1352 with the date in brackets. For example, Argentina men's national association football team (Q79800) --> d:Property:P1352. It must show "4 (16 October 2017)". (I don't want to use preferred option). Consider that d:Property:P459 must always be FIFA World Rankings (Q180825). Can you help with this? (I want it for Greek Wikipedia). Thanks anyway. Xaris333 (talk) 08:45, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Xaris333: Yes, I can help. I'm creating a module for you at Module:Sandbox/RexxS/Ranking. However, it's really difficult to text and fix bugs if you're changing the data while I'm trying to read it from Argentina men's national association football team (Q79800). Could you suggest another Wikidata entry that you won't be changing for the next hour or so? --RexxS (talk) 14:08, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
-
- Thanks. I am not going to change Argentina men's national association football team (Q79800). This is an unsuccessful try, if it can help you el:Module:FIFARanking. Xaris333 (talk) 14:12, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Xaris333: I have a working version now at Module:Sandbox/RexxS/Ranking. If you paste
{{#invoke:Sandbox/RexxS/Ranking|getRanking}}
into a section of Argentina national football team and preview it (obviously, don't save!) you should get: {{#invoke:Sandbox/RexxS/Ranking|getRanking}}
→ 1 (1 April 2023)- Perhaps you could try that in a few other pages and see if it works in each one? You won't need the qid parameter as that allows us to see the result on pages other than the article page (like here).
- The code probably could be improved to deal with rankings that only have a year as point in time qualifier, but I can do that later, on request. Let me know if you find any bugs. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 15:19, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- P.S. It should be fairly well internationalised, but let me know if you need more to use it on Greek Wikipedia. --RexxS (talk) 15:22, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for you time but is not what I wanted. The module should show 4 (16 October 2017). 3 (20 November 2017) has P459 -- > UEFA. I wanted only P459 --> FIFA. If you have time, please check and correct el:Module:FIFARanking or replace it by your code (it should work on [4]. Thanks anyway. Xaris333 (talk) 15:26, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Xaris333: The module did return "
the most recent value (according to d:Property:P585) of d:Property:P1352 with the date in brackets
" as you specified. I didn't understand that different rankings were available. I've now modified the code so that only FIFA World Rankings are used. It still needs testing in multiple articles to see how robust it is. Unfortunately my Greek is not good enough to do work on the Greek Wikipedia, so I'll have to leave that part to you. --RexxS (talk) 15:50, 18 November 2017 (UTC)- I am so thankful for your help, really... I have also written "Consider that d:Property:P459 must always be FIFA World Rankings (Q180825)." Just visit el:Module:FIFARanking. We are using only English in modules. If you can't understand, its ok. Just give a try. Xaris333 (talk) 15:53, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- It's working on Greek wiki!!! Thanks!! May I ask you for something similar? It's ok if you don't want or you don't have time. Xaris333 (talk) 16:06, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

Advice on where to find someone who can run a bot
Hi RexxS, Do you know where look/post to find a volunteer to help run the Cochrane update bot?August version. I believe it is a "python script", and the volunteer needs a bot account. Do you have any idea how labour-intensive this task is for a volunteer who has experience coding? Ideally, this bot would run every few months, to ensure that updated and withdrawn reviews are flagged for cleanup in the articles. Thanks, Jenny JenOttawa (talk) 14:49, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Jenny: I'd suggest my good friend, Mike Peel who writes and runs other bots and is an admin. He's also a really nice guy and very helpful. A job that is only run every couple of months isn't likely to be a big imposition, hopefully. (For Mike: the bot is actually User:Dexbot and its owner is Ladsgroup whose English is excellent. See the history for the page it writes to) If there's any problem with that, I have a few other ideas. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 17:42, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- @JenOttawa: I'd be happy to help. I operate User:Pi bot, which runs a few small bot jobs using Python/pywikibot scripts, and I'd be happy to add another. The task would probably need to go through Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval before running (if it hasn't already), but this doesn't sound like a controversial thing so I expect that would be straightforward. Is the code you want running available somewhere so that I can have a look at it? (And thanks Doug for the complements!) Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 21:30, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- I have contacted Mike on his talk page and contacted James to see if he knows where to find the actual code. Thanks again for your help and for introducing me to Mike!JenOttawa (talk) 01:33, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

I noticed your diligence regarding medical articles, which I have admired. I discovered today (reading your Talk page) that your work on such articles represents a supplementary interest to your primary work on scuba-related articles, which reflect even more diligence! SPI
Hey, you put your comment down in the area that is reserved for admins and CUs. Would you please move it up to the area for "others"? "thx for weighing in there! Jytdog (talk) 19:04, 28 November 2017 (UTC) (redact Jytdog (talk) 19:18, 28 November 2017 (UTC))
- Thanks Jytdog, but I'm happy with where it is (immediately following the issue it refers to). If somebody thinks my contribution is worth less than that of an admin, I'm sure they'll move it . Cheers. --RexxS (talk) 19:14, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
- SPI has a huge backlog. Your ego is more important to you than the time of clerks and admins who actually do work there? Whatever. Jytdog (talk) 19:19, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
- No. It doesn't fucking matter where the post is, and it's really disappointing to see that you don't understand that. Look at bureaucracy, definition #4. If moving my post is more important to the clerks than doing the job they volunteered for, they can make that decision. I won't worry either way, but you need to get a sense of proportion. --RexxS (talk) 19:25, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Finning techniques
Hi RexxS, I have moved Frog kick to Finning techniques and expanded it somewhat to include more of the current scope, with references, so a net gain. When you have nothing better to do you might take a quick look, and see if there are any particularly egregious errors that spring out, or omissions that don't, and leave any suggestions that come to mind on the talk page.
