RichBot: Removing invalid templates from drafts failure
RichBot's task "Removing invalid templates from drafts" failed to run per the configuration specified at Wikipedia:Bot activity monitor/Configurations. Detected only 0 edits in the last 1 day, whereas at least 1 was expected. If/when the issue is fixed, please change the section title (e.g. append " - Fixed") or remove this section completely. When that is done, this notice will be reposted if the bot task is still broken or is re-broken. If your bot is behaving as expected, then you may want to modify the task configuration instead. Or to unsubscribe from bot failure notifications, remove the |notify=
parameter from the {{/task}}
template. Thanks! – SDZeroBot (talk) 13:21, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 6 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 7 September. It will be on all wikis from 8 September (calendar).
- Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 6 September at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 8 September at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
- On Special pages that only have one tab, the tab-bar's row will be hidden in the Vector-2022 skin to save space. The row will still show if Gadgets use it. Gadgets that currently append directly to the CSS id of
#p-namespaces
should be updated to use themw.util.addPortletLink
function instead. Gadgets that style this id should consider also targeting#p-associated-pages
, the new id for this row. Examples are available. [1][2]

Request on 02:12:22, 8 September 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Marciaheisler
Hi Rich,
I and the group that I'm working with are new to contributing to Wikipedia, so are muddling through the process a bit. The first article that we drafted and submitted to Wikipedia was not accepted because it was not in an encyclopedic tone of voice. So as to not entirely lose the work we'd put into it, we posted it on our http://GNAG.org/rta/ website. Then we set to work on trying to get the right tone for Wikipedia, which is the document that you reviewed and deleted for the "unambiguous copyright infringement" issue. So as to remove any potential copyright issues, we have removed the document from GNAG.org, as well as updating the document we wish to submit to Wikipedia so that it no longer references that article on the GNAG site. Will this be sufficient in order for us to resubmit our article? If not, please advise other actions we should take.
Kind regards, Marcia Heisler

Hi
Hi! Thanks for letting me know that YouTube and SetList aren't reliable. I thought they were (if it's a notable channel). Obscureonion5 (talk) 14:23, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
Konrad Haase mishap
Hi Rich, sorry for being completely incommunicative about that draft (which has now been moved to mainspace). I haven't had the time or motivation to focus on it for a while, although I have read through about eight sources and I still intend to improve it. I didn't approve the draft due to verification issues (specifically about the section on the Dresden police), which still haven't been resolved. However, I'm very hesitant to outright delete content that is probably true but unsupported by the cited source. I still hope to improve the article at some point and I apologize again for the less-than-stellar reviewing decisions. Best, Toadspike (talk) 02:42, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Toadspike it's all good, just be careful about leaving stuff on reviewing, the backlog is big enough as it is :) - RichT|C|E-Mail 08:34, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

I just want you to delete this article anyway because I feel like it's useless. ChimaTronX (talk) 19:49, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Chimatronx: This request needs to go on the AfD discussion. I am not an administrator and cannot delete articles - RichT|C|E-Mail 19:56, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah. With two draft rejections, I straight on moved it to the article section. ChimaTronX (talk) 20:24, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
- P.S. I didn't mean to request deletion. ChimaTronX (talk) 20:40, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Two database fields in the
templatelinks
table are now being dropped:tl_namespace
andtl_title
. Any queries that rely on these fields need to be changed to use the new normalization field calledtl_target_id
. See T299417 for more information. This is part of normalization of links tables. [5][6]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 20 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 21 September. It will be on all wikis from 22 September (calendar).
- In Kartographer maps, you can use icons on markers for common points of interest. On Tuesday, the previous icon set will be updated to version maki 7.2. That means, around 100 new icons will be available. Additionally, all existing icons were updated for clarity and to make them work better in international contexts. [7][8]
Future changes
- In a group discussion at Wikimania, more than 30 people talked about how to make content partnership software in the Wikimedia movement more sustainable. What kind of support is acceptable for volunteer developers? Read the summary and leave your feedback.
