Can you please discuss on the talk page if you think you are correct in adding that stuff to the Foucault page? I have said twice now that it is an original essay, which is not what Wikipedia is supposed to be about. Such material should be deleted according to Wikipedia guidelines. Hi -- please read WP:NOR and WP:V; it is not enough to say "I can give you cites if you like." Citations must be in the material added to the encyclopedia entry, not offered privately as an aside. What you are adding looks like an original essay, full of opinions that aren't attributed to anyone specific. No, by original I mean original as in original research. In other words, your ideas. I have no idea where you get the idea of a "copy" from. Please read the link above on original research and why it's an important policy. And the onus is on you to provide proof of it not being original research. That would mean more than the 3 references you provide. Whenever an idea is presented that goes beyond the everyday, it must be sourced. So, indicating that Foucault is French is everyday knowledge and would rarely require a citation, unless it's controversial (see Jean-Luc Godard on when that sort of thing happens). But bringing in an interpretation on Foucault's ideas requires a verifiable source. See WP:V for information on what this means. You acknowledge that what you are attempting to include are your original ideas. That by very definition is original research. Even if you have your own published material (i.e. written by you and not self-published), this would become an issue of conflict of interest, which would need to be addresses. I will include some information below on how to edit Wikipedia, including using verifiable sources. Please read this careful so you can avoid being blocked for edit disruptions. As a courtesy to other editors (remember, Wikipedia is collaborative), you should discuss major changes on the talk pages of articles, especially if it proves to be controversial. Edits to Zhuangzi

Hi, many of your good faith edits to Zhuangzi have been reverted. Moving an article title has to be first discussed on the talk page. Zhuangzi is more in line with WP:TITLE or WP:COMMON and is more consistent with how the philosopher is referenced according to accepted naming guidelines and modern culture and how it is referred to in the article than Zhuang Zhou. My point wasn't whether something was correct or not. My point was that a) moving a page has to be discussed first, and b) the Wiki naming conventions for articles such as Zhuangzi were already established and your edits went against the naming conventions (which is why you needed to discuss it first). I strongly encourage you to go through the proper procedure and propose the article be renamed/moved on the talk page, but again you have to do this, not just rename the article.Flygongengar (talk) 20:22, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

For future additions to this article, it's worth bearing in mind that conventionally most punctuation (at least full stop/period, comma, colon, semicolon, question mark) is followed by a space; and it's a Wikipedia convention that book and journal titles are italicised (by enclosing them in two pairs of straight quotes like this) and journal article titles are enclosed in "double quotes". I saw the message you left for ImageTaggingBot on its talk page (it's a 'bot, not a person). It's not asking for you to explain yourself but to edit the image's description page (and add the source and author and other required information).

For future reference: just because an image is up on the NY Times website doesn't mean it's "freely available". It may be freely available for viewing but it's probably still copyrighted unless explicitly stated otherwise.

About Theory of the sun and the moon and Unam sanctam

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Theory of the sun and the moon and Unam sanctam a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you.
