Varn(Jyotish) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Varn(Jyotish), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.   Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into General category (reservation). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Problematic edit

edit

I've reverted this edit to Caste system in India because it makes no sense to me. What were you going for here? Ovinus (talk) 09:11, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Ovinus all people/castes were categorised into one of the four classes called varnas. Only this was mentioned in the edit. Riteshmmec (talk) 09:24, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ovinus Replacing the word 'Varnas' by 'Classes' in the introductory paragraph edit might have made sense, i think. Riteshmmec (talk) 09:29, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ovinus The first paragraph is not reflecting the essence (as mentioned above) of the topic. Riteshmmec (talk) 10:18, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, but the varnas are mentioned at the end of the paragraph. I agree that first paragraph is pretty bad. Ovinus (talk) 16:43, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ovinus the main word 'classification' is not mentioned even at the end of the paragraph. Riteshmmec (talk) 16:50, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I suggest you take your arguments to the talk page so that someone more knowledgeable than me can discuss it. As others noted above, articles about the Indian caste system are a bit of a minefield; be careful. Ovinus (talk) 16:54, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Varna (Hinduism) and Varna. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. Arjayay (talk) 17:42, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Pepperbeast, adding links to other Wikipedia pages is 'disruptive editing' according to you? Riteshmmec (talk) 18:22, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Repeatedly adding links to draft articles or articles that don't actually exist after you have been asked to stop is disruptive, yes. PepperBeast (talk) 18:31, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Pepperbeast Wikipedia encourages linking to pages even if they don't exist.
Add red links to articles to indicate that a page will be created soon or that an article should be created for the topic because the subject is notable and verifiable. Red links help Wikipedia grow Riteshmmec (talk) 19:18, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thus far, you have not established notability, and even with adequate sourcing, I don't see why the material wouldn't simply be included in Indian astrology. PepperBeast (talk) 19:24, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at Shudra. PepperBeast (talk) 18:07, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. A line in an astrology book does not overturn the very well-known and very well referenced basis of varna as a system of hereditary social class. Your editing is tendentious and absurd. PepperBeast (talk) 18:17, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Pepperbeast This concept of "hereditary" social class fails when you think of the criteria for including the first person in a particular class. This one line in astrology is effectively linked to the whole of humanity. Ritez (talk) 18:26, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Shudra, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Minister. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
