Speedy deletion nomination of Adam R. Vareika

edit

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Adam R. Vareika, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. With respect to the above-captioned article; I noted that there was a tag in the article that suggested that you wished to have a copy of the article returned to you for improvement. I have left the article in place but I expect it to be deleted soon, for the reasons outlined in the "speedy deletion" tag. You will find the material at User:Robisler/Sandbox (click that link to go there). The biggest problem that I saw with the article was that it lacked reliable sources -- please look at that definition, because it's not what you added to the article. Reliable sources are, briefly, the written opinions of arm's-length third-party expert sources writing in reputable publications suggesting that the topic/subject is notable, and doing so in a verifiable way. Entries in an online listing of professionals, for example, do not confer notability because the service does not exert any editorial control about who is and is not permitted to use the service. It's also not precisely clear to me that you are asserting that Mr. Varelka is indeed notable; the article has to say explicitly that he is notable, pretty much, and precisely why. You may want to have a look at the introductory material here, as well as the other links in this paragraph that will take you to pages that define the terms more completely and precisely. If you have any questions about Wikipedia policy that are not answered by the material behind those links, feel free to consult me (you can leave me a note by clicking on the word "talk" after my signature). Best of luck with your future contributions. Accounting4Taste:talk 03:24, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Incidentally, looking at the material you left on the associated talk page, I should add that Wikipedia only has articles about people who are already demonstrably notable, not those who are about to be notable. An expectation that someone will be notable in the future is not a valid reason to avoid deletion; we only use what we can reliably source here. Accounting4Taste:talk 03:27, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

AfD Nomination: Adam R. Vareika

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that Adam R. Vareika meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adam R. Vareika. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last seven days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Accounting4Taste:talk 04:54, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
