Speedy deletion nomination of Ajith Rupasinghe Surendra

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ajith Rupasinghe Surendra requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://revcom.us/a/489/awtwns-in-memory-of-comrade-surendra-en.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 2A01:4B00:8E02:4100:4CC0:22D0:2CEA:2877 (talk) 04:55, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the feedback and guidance. I am still learning how to do the article. This is my first attempt to create a page. I have removed the sentences copied from the above link. Please help to guide me further to continue my contribution about the forgotten leaders. Roshan Sylu (talk) 06:01, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Samal De Silva for deletion

Please help to guide me on your concern, so that I can avoid similar situation again in future and also improve this article. I am trying to contribute on the hidden history of the forgotten Sri Lankan leaders who sacrificed their life for others. Roshan Sylu (talk) 06:53, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I understood your concern that I couldn't find enough information about Samal De Silva from the available online resources. As such I agree with your proposal for the delegation. Thanks for the help and suggestions. Roshan Sylu (talk) 12:48, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello, my apologies for not leaving this note sooner. I was the editor that nominated the article for deletion. I genuinely hope you don't find this discouraging, although I know from experience this is hard to do. Please contribute to the discussion on the nomination page. It's certainly possible it will not be deleted if you make a good case for notability and others agree with you; I'm completely open to changing my mind if you convince me. Writing an article can be very difficult if you're new to Wikipedia and it often takes some time and experience before success. I'd be happy to request the article be moved to your draft space so you can continue to work on it; alternatively, you can post the sources on the nomination page or add them to the article for others to consider. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know and I genuinely do hope you're not discouraged. Best wishes,   // Timothy :: talk  02:39, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes I am new to Wikipedia. As suggested I moved this article to the draft space. Thanks for your help and suggestions. I will continue to improve this article by adding more citations. Roshan Sylu (talk) 06:22, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Samal De Silva, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 08:48, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your help to alert me. I tried to fine tune the initial draft version. I will leave details remarks in future. Thanks. Roshan Sylu (talk) 09:55, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please stop

edit

Roshan Sylu, this is an encyclopedia. Please stop adding a list of obscure communists into existing articles. You have also created new articles for several of these obscure individuals, all but one of whom do not meet notability guidelines.--Obi2canibe (talk) 10:53, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help and guidance. I will improve my contribution. Roshan Sylu (talk) 11:25, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Regarding page move

edit

Hi, hope you're doing well. I noticed that you've recently moved Samal De Silva into draftspace with an edit summary "collecting more information". Please don't move articles from mainspace into draft while AfD discussion is already underway. In case you want to improve article in question, please do so. Add reliable sources with inline citations, add more information, make copyediting etc. Thank you and happy editing. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 05:04, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help and suggestions. I will continue to improve my contribution. Roshan Sylu (talk) 06:17, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited K. A. Subramaniam, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Colonial. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thanks for your feedback and guidance. I acknowledge that some of these were imported from http://noolaham.net/project/128/12749/12749.html According to Noolaham, copyright is belonging to the author. Actually this book was donated by K.A. Subramaniam's wife Valliammai Subramaniam while she was living in Singapore. Please help to see this from the pdf version http://noolaham.net/project/128/12749/12749.pdf on page 2. Also she has published this book in text mode in her blog at this link below https://sathiamanai.blogspot.com/1989/12/1989-kasubramaniam-commemoration-volume.html with a note on the headline and also in her profile on the right side top corner of her blog allowing anyone to use her materials in Wikipedia. So please help to reconsider your decision and kindly help to restore the article. I am extremely so sorry for the trouble and please accept my sincere apologies. Once again thanks for your help to restore the article. Roshan Sylu (talk) 11:32, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

The following is the exact text from Mrs.Subramaniam's https://sathiamanai.blogspot.com profile :"Please note that I started this in 2009 only and the events up-to 1969 are placed in 1970.   Hello Roshan Sylu! Your additions to Ceylon Communist Party (Maoist) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ♠Vami_IV†♠ 21:56, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
