Women in Red #1woman1week April to June 2024

  #1woman1week
Thank you, Rosiestep, for creating at least one biography of a woman per week from 1 April to 30 June 2024 in addition to those created from January to March. I hope you will continue to participate from July to September.--Ipigott (talk) 10:17, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

July music

story · music · places

The story is today about the first published composition by Arnold Schönberg which I was blessed to hear. Listen, and perhaps read what Alma Mahler (to-be-Mahler at the time, to be precise, who was present at the first performance) said, and yes that was too much for the Main page ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:29, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

Today's story is about a Bach cantata premiered 300 years ago OTD. - A meeting of two women - the occasion of the cantata - is pictured in our local church. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:43, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

3 July is the birthday of Leoš Janáček, and I'm happy I had a meaningful DYK in 2021 which was about a woman ;) - It's also the birthday of Franz Kafka, and I uploaded pics from his family's album seen in Berlin. Proud to have had 2 women in green in June, and the third nom is in progress. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:43, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

Libuše Domanínská, the subject of yesterday's story, would have turned 100 today, but I missed that ;) - Overnight, Tamara Milashkina became GA and Lando Bartolini went to the Main page. I made my story about his almost unbelievable career, from Luigi in Il tabarro in Philadelphia in 1968 (with a nod to Liberty) up to Calaf in Turandot in Beijing in 1999 ;) - 4 July is also the birthday of Brian Boulton who was a pioneer of a concise infobox in 2013. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:20, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Today's story is about an outstanding violinist from Georgia, which is a sad story in the end. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:59, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for all the links, Gerda Arendt. Plenty for me to check out after I'm back home on Tuesday. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:27, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
I remember today Bach's 1724 cantata for this Sunday which is unusual in many respects. Another woman needs attention for RD, Marina Kondratyeva. Great cat today! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:56, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Nice article about Marina. Glad you like that cat. Back home and playing catch-up. --Rosiestep (talk) 00:14, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
She's on the Main page now. My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach, - so 3 times Mozart again if you click on "music" ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:14, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
She's my story today. What would you suggest for a DYK? Don't miss video ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:06, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt, How about: ... that the Bolshoi Ballet's ballerina, Marina Kondratyeva, was described as "weightless"? --Rosiestep (talk) 13:00, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you. I just nominated without a hook ;) - Feel free to donate there, but I believe the weightless thingy is already in the image. You might also review instead, because I need a merciful reviewer who ignores that the nom was 2 days late regarding the new article, and the expansion since 11 Jul was substantial but not exactly 5 times. Out for biking and concert now, - the things that keep me pleasantly busy from nominating in time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:06, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
Yesterday I listened in concert to Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, with Sabine Meyer: a delight. - Today's story is about Ruth Hesse, with a pic in the article only, sadly. I found it difficult to point at a YouTube sample, because yes, her signature roles - the Nurse and Brangäne - exist in great full-length operas with great casts, but hard to find her. - Talking of YouTube: today I was pointed at Elijah by a friend who performed in the concert of the Dessoff Choirs in their centenary year, and I'm quite impressed by samples (beginning and No. 32 where I linked it) - enjoy! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:38, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
Today's story is about a photographer who took iconic pictures, especially View from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Manhattan, 9/11. If that's not enough my talk offers chamber music from two amazing concerts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:55, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
That View photo was somewhere between startling and triggering. I wasn't aware that it existed. Thank you for sharing. --Rosiestep (talk) 09:11, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
I knew the photo from DYK, but didn't know he took it. - Just a look at music (on my talk) shows remembrance of three people who died, and creating an article or improving one is all I can do. Three are on the Main page today, and three others planned ... - What can you say in 200 chars about a career like Klingenberg's? Interesting tribute (in English) to watch if you can ignore the background music. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:50, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
Indeed, it requires creativity: you say enough to capture the reader's attention enough that they click the link. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:14, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
Yes, but I have this crazy desire to also make it a meaningful introduction of the subject, because millions see the Main page, but only one percent if at all will click, - the others get only that sentence. Another look at music: three women there, - a sad record. The Main page also has a Mozart symphony I love, and my story is a 2016 hook. It was connected not only to Max Reger's death in 1916, remembered then, but also the death of a friend who - and we around him - knew he was dying when he listened to the concert which was his last time leaving home, and music from Reger's Requiem was played for his funeral three months later. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:54, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Here we differ. I wanted something eye-catching enough that the person who made it to the EN-WP mainpage and scrolled to the DYK section, would see my hook and want to click the link. Also, often enough, reviewers don't support the option for a ...meaningful introduction of the subject so I learned I had to acquiesce to that. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:28, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
I haven't learned to acquiesce - thanks for a new word. - On Bach's day of death my story is about his cantata Was frag ich nach der Welt, BWV 94, although the article needs work. What do you think about the 2010 hook? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:02, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Main Page history/2024 July 30b will have a baritone, a violinist, a composer and a Bach cantata, - almost too much, and the composer's article, Wolfgang Rihm, should be better, help wanted. - Plenty of music on my parents anniversary day ;) - Your book cat is great, and I "shot" two together today, pic to come. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:00, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Jacob Green Jackson

On 3 July 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jacob Green Jackson, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Jackson Demonstration State Forest was named in honor of American lumberman Jacob Green Jackson? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jacob Green Jackson. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Jacob Green Jackson), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Happy Ned

Hey Rosie, hope all is well. I've just finished an article on Elizabeth Harriet Davies, aka Happy Ned. It was fun to write, lots of research to sort it out, but I think in the end I have told her fascinating/tragic story fairly well. I have never had to give an entire poem in an article and so it seemed to me that it needed to be attributed as incorporating an entire text, rather than quoting a sentence. I went to your article from the Pan-American Conference of Women and copied what you did there. I don't know who wrote the articles in the Hampshire Telegraph & Sussex Chronicle or Ally Sloper's Half Holiday, but I looked up the editors of both. Apparently the author= parameter cannot be changed for editor=, so I used author, but added (ed) after the names. Would you look at how I attributed the poems and tell me if I did it correctly? Thanks! SusunW (talk) 15:13, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

SusunW, always enjoy hearing from you. Today is our last day in Paris; homeward bound tomorrow. I read Happy Ned's biography and I checked out the attribution. IMHO, it is correct. Hope all is well in your world. I assume it's pretty hot this time of year? --Rosiestep (talk) 15:27, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much, I appreciate the help. I love, love, love Paris. Yes, hot and rainy here. Hurricane season looks to be a bad one, but so far we've escaped any significant damage. SusunW (talk) 15:29, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

Helen Hunt Jackson

https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520218048/helen-hunt-jackson

If you by any chance have this book, can you tell me the source for its cover image? It's a lovely image of her, worth grabbing, but - although TinEye indicates it might be somewhere on JSTOR, https://www.literaryladiesguide.com/author-biography/helen-hunt-jackson/ is the only copy I can find. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 13:51, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

Adam Cuerden, unfortunately, I don't. It is a great cover photo. Maybe one of my pagestalkers does. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:23, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
We can hope. In any case, the one I restored already looks almost certain to pass at this point, but think it never hurts to have multiple photos. Speaking of which, while generally not well reproduced, [1] has some interesting ones. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 14:53, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
Well, good news/bad news. I found it, but it's locked down a bit. http://id.lib.harvard.edu/via/olvwork367471/catalog Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 15:06, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
I've uploaded what I could get and added it, at least. With a little watermark removal. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 11:31, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

I've clearly done something to break your formatting, but I can't see it. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 11:31, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Looks great here on her page, Adam Cuerden. Thanks for that! And don't worry about the formatting in this section. It's insignificant. --Rosiestep (talk) 11:41, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Just glad to be able to improve her article. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 11:47, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Lucie Delarue-Mardrus

I have a couple other things I should be working on soon: https://bibliotheques-specialisees.paris.fr/ark:/73873/pf0001071313/0002/v0001.simple.selectedTab=record is probably next, as, even with the slightly awkward bits to the restoration, it's such a big improvement. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 11:47, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Adam Cuerden It will certainly be an improvement over what's currently being used in Lucie Delarue-Mardrus' biography! --Rosiestep (talk) 12:07, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Formatting issue fixed. --Rosiestep (talk) 12:07, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
And Lucie Delarue-Mardrus already looking a little better. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 13:12, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Adam Cuerden, significantly better. I wonder if there are stats somewhere that address the difference in biography pageviews based on photo quality of the subject. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:34, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Hm. Difficult one as the causality could go both ways (more viewed articles having more effort put in to find images, and, of course, a featured picture is a guaranteed day on the main page). I suppose the simplest way is to compare after a change of image. Ideally, we'd want changes on this level: any different that isn't noticable in thumbnail would probably have a much more limited effect, and there's a lot of noise in the data. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 14:14, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Adam Cuerden, yeah, that makes sense. I'll take a look at the stats on this one in a few months. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:30, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Fingers crossed! Would be nice to think what you're doing is helping the article's prominence. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 15:37, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Adam Cuerden, well, in my gut, I know it is. I just don't know the statistical significance, but that's okay. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:14, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Just a quick update on progress. Trying to fix some of that 1920s photoshop job. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 22:49, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
And done! Anyone else from [https://bibliotheques-specialisees.paris.fr/ark:/73873/pf0001071313 this folder (two additional pages) you think particularly worthy? Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 21:00, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
Adam Cuerden, oh my, this is like asking me to pick a candy in a chocolate factory. There are so many! I'm traveling, so give me a bit of time to review. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:14, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
Might have to do Jane Misme - due to a misidentification (basically: image from the Jane Misme Collection we're looking at, but of Maria Verone, and the collection name was mistaken for the subject), she had the wrong photo up for nine years. Whoops! Wonder how far that's spread over the internet.... Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 17:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
Adam Cuerden, Oh, my, accompanied with a look of horror. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Well, uploaded the image and cropped the paper around it for the article. Doesn't need too much restoration. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 18:23, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Archaeologist redlist

Hi Rosie. I was taking a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Archaeologists after some time, and noticed a couple of old edits of yours removing entries that were also on the wikidata list (e.g. [2]). I hadn't realised that the two weren't supposed to overlap. Is there another way to highlight subjects with good potential from the (rather long) wikidata list? – Joe (talk) 13:15, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi Joe Roe and thanks for stopping by. That's a good question and something we've grappled with in different ways. No agreement on what's a best practice at Women in Red, so if an editor thinks the name should be on both lists (crowd-sourced and Wikidata-based), particularly if they are linking multiple sources with that name on the crowd-sourced list, it's totally okay. Note, other editors may have other opinions. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:23, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Wikiproject

Hi, I see you're a member of WP:Anthropology, would you be interested in joining a sub project on oral tradition? Kowal2701 (talk) 13:57, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi Kowal2701, thanks for reaching out. However, my plate is so full with other wiki work that I have to decline. I wish you well with the sub project. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:07, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Wikimedian in Residence intro!

Hola Rosiestep!

I hope this message finds you well! My name is Oscar, and for the next six months, I’ll be the Wikimedian in Residence for Latin Culture and Community at Equis. I came across your name on the list of participants for the Hispanic and Latino Americans task force and would love to connect with you!

I’m really excited to boost interest in these projects, and I believe that we can achieve more together than alone. If you have any questions or ideas for collaboration, please feel free to reach out. Looking forward to working with you!

Happy editing! Oscar_. (talk) 17:51, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi Oscar_.! Congratulations; so happy to hear that you are in this role! I'm connected with Eric of Equis on this topic and would be happy to continue the chat with you. Will you be attending Wikimania? Or we could schedule a call? --Rosiestep (talk) 15:28, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
Thanks @Rosiestep! Yes, Eric has been the brain behind this effort, I started volunteering with them last year, and since my contract with WMF was ending, they were kind enough to bring me in! Happy to talk anytime, I am not going to Wikimania but surely will be at WCNA (my first one), Oscar_. (talk) 14:55, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
Oscar_., cool. After I return from Poland, I'll ping you here again and we can work something out... maybe in the second half of August if schedules align. Looking forward to chatting with you! --Rosiestep (talk) 16:25, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

Kat Cole's new position

Hi Rosiestep. I am employed by AG1, formerly Athletic Greens. I am seeking your help in updating Kat Cole's article, as a prolific Wiki editor with a specific interest in women. Kat was recently promoted to be the CEO of Athletic Greens; neither of her positions in the company are mentioned in the body of her Wiki. I know that my COI keeps me from editing directly unless I get community buy-in. My suggestion is posted on the Talk page, and I would be grateful for your review. Thank you in advance, BL for AG1 (talk) 14:56, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

Hi BL for AG1. Thanks for reaching out and thanks for your kind words. I'm on international travel so perhaps one of my pagestalkers will look at what you've shared here and can help out. Alternatively, you could post your request at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red; it's a safe space with >1,200 different editors.
P.S. (I was unaware of the brand, but then I read this in The New York Times so now I know a bit about it.) Please tell Kat Cole that I send my congratulations on her promotion. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:14, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

August music

story · music · places

Today I have two "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, watch and listen, - I like today's especially because you see him at work, hear him talk about his work and the result of his work - rare! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:18, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

... and a third, like 22 July but with interview (celebrate the art of women) and the music to be played today --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:40, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

A rainbow if you click on places, and a cat! - in a similar position as "yours" today ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:26, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. It's nice to have not only a recent death, but also this "birthday" on the Main page. And a rainbow in my places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:23, 13 August 2024 (UTC)

Lots for me to catch-up on, but wanted to quickly say that spotting a rainbow now and then can really be uplifting. --Rosiestep (talk) 12:37, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
Nice cantata; I've heard it played. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:48, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for listening, and now GA even ;) - I had to search for the cat today ;) - how do you like my latest, black&white with the rainbow? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:19, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
today's story is about education, 10 years OTD after lecturing our founder). Music for today's feast is Monteverdi's, the best concert we ever did (so pictured again on my talk), but it wasn't recorded, substituted with a "Pacific" one that comes with subtitles line by line in Latin and English: I learned something! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:21, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
I find Monteverdi's Vespro della Beata Vergine on your talkpage; was it that one? --Rosiestep (talk) 11:34, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
yes, with a link to listen to the "Pacific" choir ;) - adding 4 animals from 30 July, 2 cats (one the one who "laughed") - yesterday's story was about a woman --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:59, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
I rarely use a photo with 2 cats but this one is so perfect. Thank you. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:55, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
Lovely, seen and smiled. Another one to come - at least I arrived in August now! Today's story is about a stage director, - watch Aida, so tender so cruel. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:15, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
Sunday story about another of Bach's chorale cantatas, listen, as I listened to two impressive very different choral concerts, - music by 16 composers. In the latest cloudy pictures: a hidden deer, a cat (one of the 2 with tails up, as announced) and a blaze of a sunset. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:39, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
My Sunday also included a concert, but of a different sort... a concert band, in the park, under magnificent old trees. It was glorious. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:22, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
Sounds great! I enjoyed the Czech Philharmonic who already played the premiere of Dvorak's Cello Concerto, and a great young woman as soloist that Sunday. Help? My story today is about a woman, nominated for RD but needing support as I write this. A composer died whose article is long and mostly unreferenced. And some articles open for review, always. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:19, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
With four supports, the violinist "made it" just before I went to bed. Goehr work is detailed on the talk. - Interesting animal pictured! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:00, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
Awesome that the violinist "made it", but I can't sort out who is the violinist. Sorry about that. Link to their biography please? --Rosiestep (talk) 10:58, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

Wikimania temperance women presentation

Hi there, Rosie, and thank you for your beautifully illustrated slides for your Wikimania presentation. I hope your talk was well received. I have been looking for a Wikipedia article reflecting the same coverage but failed to find anything so comprehensive. I think it would be useful to create an article along these lines, no doubt incorporating snippets from other articles on women's role in the temperance movement (such as the Role of women section of Temperance movement).--Ipigott (talk) 09:06, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Ipigott, thank you for noticing it and for your kind word (... and I do intend to upload the deck to Wikimedia Commons). From the comments shared with me, the talk was well-received. As I framed my presentation as original research, and as I will further flesh it out when I present the session again at WikiConference North America in October, I won't be ready to append the Wikipedia article on this topic for a bit. But yes, that should be on the to-do list. --Rosiestep (talk) 12:19, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
I actually found the deck under your contributions on Commons but perhaps you can provide better access by further categorization or listing (both on Commons and Wikipedia). Although you've put together a story linking past and present, I wouldn't call any of it original research. Let me know when you develop an enhanced version for October. Given the highly active role of women in the temperance movement, it's certainly a topic which needs to be developed.--Ipigott (talk) 14:07, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
Well... I was going to add a revised version with a few tweaks to it, but maybe just as well that I leave it as is. Thanks again, Ipigott, for your support and for recognizing the topic's significance. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:13, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Redirect Best American Short Stories individual year articles?

Because you've previously worked on the The Best American Short Stories article, I wanted to let you know I'm attempting to see if there's a consensus on whether the BASS individual year articles should be turned into redirects. Details on the main article's talk page. I hope you'll share your opinion. Thanks. SouthernNights (talk) 13:05, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

story · music · places

What do you think of my short version of the life of Alexander Goehr? Our DYK team would probably want to mention that he worked in a training kibbutz, while I was happy to include a link to an article by Brian Boulton, - we sang the Monteverdi Vespers on 1 September 2019. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:20, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

I think it's a very good, not-short article. ;) --Rosiestep (talk) 15:30, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
You mean the biography? I meant my story ;) - Did you know that the article was much longer? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:40, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Today's story has 3 composers, I couldn't decide for the one on the Main page or the one who didn't make it on his bicentenary, so took both, and the pic has a third. Listen if you have a bit of time. The music, played by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra in Germany in April 2022, impressed me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:56, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
Recommended reading today: Frye Fire, by sadly missed Vami_IV. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:31, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
The strep throat issue makes this an interesting wildfire. Can't say that I remember it in particular as there are so many, over the years, in AZ, CA, etc. or maybe I just remember the CA ones better. Cool that the article is an FA now. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:23, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you! - Happy because my story today is about a Czech mezzo soprano who is mentioned on the Main page on her birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:42, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Three stories related to today in memory, 11 September, 20 July and 20 June, the latter piece of art also pictured on the Main page. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:26, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
Today is Schoenberg's 150th birthday! On display, portrayed by Egon Schiele, with music from Moses und Aron, and with two DYK hooks, one from 2010 and another from 2014; the latter, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday, which made me happy then and now again. - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (just a few days late). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:24, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
My story today is about a man who played jazz when it was banned by the Nazis, - you can listen to how they played it later. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:17, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
... and I see that he ran a winery and co-founded a music festival. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:54, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
Good vision! And back then you could mention all these defining things in a DYK. - Lovely fall cat! - Ach, lieben Christen, seid getrost, BWV 114, is one of the pieces in my topic of this year. - Sunflowers, apples and plums among places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:56, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
Back in the day, I used to really enjoy DYK. I still think about cool and/or defining hooks when I create articles, but I totally lack the motivation to deal with the present system. As for sunflowers, apples and plums ... they conjure a perfect autumnal image. And, yes(!), today's cat, too. Thanks for noticing as I found it months ago but saved it for today. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:51, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you thoughtful saving! - My story today features a pic I took from my position in the choir, I can also offer varied delightful music, some from Venice, also with pics I took, - note the rose in the clarinet ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:37, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

Looking at your image uploads list, you had me at: View from Rialto Bridge, Venice. For a split second, I was transported there. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:36, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
That's great! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:19, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Thanks

For helping with the station category issue - the notion of 'Station' can be quite odd to persons not in OZ JarrahTree 04:13, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

JarrahTree - Glad I could add something to Tempe Downs Station. Love reading Wikipedia articles about Australia; always something to learn. (cc: Aliceinthealice) --Rosiestep (talk) 04:23, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

Notable woman

One woman a day... one list I'm looking at is notable Australians and I just completed a draft of Rosalie Stephenson who published a book about the lot of women. She usually used the name Ros Bower and there is an award in her memory, which is how I came over the first "Rosie Step". Have a hug, Roger aka Victuallers (talk) 07:54, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Nicely done, Roger! Glad she's joined the ranks of Wikipedia. I'm happy to be in her company, and that of other "Rosie Step"s ... historical and future-wise. Hug back at you. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:55, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
