Thanks for uploading File:Moaning band.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Moaning band.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Moaning band.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.popmatters.com/moaning-release-lean-kinetic-debut-2546441107.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Teahouse Post

edit

Hi there, saw your post at the Teahouse. I'm not an article reviewer, but I can see where they are coming from. I think you might have a case, just not the criteria you were looking at. To explain; 1. Your first ref, the LA Times is good. Two more of those and you're in, usually

2 - confusing; its got borked somehow, the link goes to an article that is not about the band at all. (the website link that is throwing up the red error message works, and is about the band- ok, I fixed it). Its to widr fm, is a student-run non-commercial radio station, staffed by students according to their about us page. If you read the notability criteria, "Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases" shouldnt be used.

3. You put your worst ref in the lead! it doesn't appear to support the statement "Moaning is an American, Los Angeles-based alternative rock band, formed by musicians Sean Solomon, Pascal Stevenson and Andrew MacKelvie in 2014." either. Its a one word name drop of another band being "supported by Post Life, Terminal A and Moaning."

4. There is one paragraph of info from the writer, that's good, but the rest is a straight interview. Interviews dont go to notability.

5. Two lines about the band, the rest is about The Smell. plus, interview.

6. youtube interview.

7. straight interview

8. unsure about the independence of this one...record store owner who sells the record, interviewed (NPR from Illinois State University?) radio host, then reviews album.

9 is ok.

So of your first 9 sources, only 1 or 2 are good for notability. Interviews can be really useful for filling in info, but you have to prove notability first. Basically, reviewers are pretty busy-there is a big backlog, so if you want your article passed quickly, you need to make it easy for them. (hence the advice to point out your best three sources)

The record reviews are good, although not sure how good allmusic is for establishing notability(as they are trying to catalog everything). In general, you are better off sticking to the classic magazine type reviews. https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/moaning-dont-go/ https://www.clashmusic.com/reviews/moaning-uneasy-laughter https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/moaning-uneasy-laughter-review-dreamy-retro-romanticism-1.4204151 https://louderthanwar.com/moaning-uneasy-laughter-album-review/

if you look at WP:BAND No. 5 "Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable)." might work, as they have two albums on Subpop. Throw out the worst sources, name drops. etc) so the good ones stand out. Hopefully the above might be helpful. Curdle (talk) 21:12, 6 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
