Removal of split from

  Resolved
 – Just an FYI.

Hey Stanton. I think you may have misunderstood the purpose of this template, given your edit summary. The page history does serve as the attribution when a split is properly done. Being properly done involves an unwaivable requirement of providing attribution for where the material came from so that a user who looks at the article's history can follow where the copyrighted material came from. Here, Kafziel failed to provide any attribution when he pasted the glossary as if he had written it. See the first edit with the edit summary "Initial entry". The glossary is a copyright violation without the template and infringes on my copyright as the creator and predominant author prior to the split, as well as of every user who edited the glossary before that illegal split. See Wikipedia:Splitting#Procedure and Help:Merging#Performing the merger and Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:29, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

You're right; I did misunderstand the purpose of the template. Rather glad, as it would be a pain to always have to use that. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 16:06, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Cue sports FA

 – Major FYI. WP:CUE has been updated to reflect this news.

Transclusion tricks

  Unresolved
 – Split WP:CUEGLOSS and use <onlyinclude> to offer a one-page version (and update {{cuegloss}} to handle the situation.
  Resolved
 – Consensus re-established at WP:Long articles not to split such articles.

There didn't appear to be any information anywhere on that transclusion issue we were talking about so, it may or may not stick, but see this diff.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:18, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

That <onlyinclude> feature is going to be a real boon. After we split the glossary into several articles for size reasons, we can still offer a one-page version by <onlyinclude>'ing the content. Nice. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 02:55, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Phil Taylor

  Resolved
 – Moot.

Please try and resolve the copyright infringement issue with the Phil Taylor article as it could be deleted, this would be a shame as it is a very good article. Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 10:05, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

It's OK, it is already resolved Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 11:16, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
This article still has issues. The main one is the claim in the lead that he's the best ever. Such a claim must be presented as a quotation from some expert/publication of relevance and notability, and cited specifically to that source. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 00:19, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

WP:WikiProject Darts

  Resolved
 – Project development is well under way.

I have started Wikipedia:WikiProject Darts and need as much as possible, I see you are experienced at working with WikiProject's so I would appreciate it very much if you would help me develop WikiProject Darts into aa detailed and well-organised WikiProject that can help improve articles on darts. Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 11:18, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

The simplest thing to do would probably be to copy and modify WP:CUE and all of its resources. Should I proceed with that? Do you want to do it? Have other plans? I'm not a huge fan of intensely customizing WikiProjects, but rather cookie-cuttering them, since the results are more consistent and are arrived at more efficiently. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 00:21, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes, it would be great if you copied and modified it from WP:CUE, I see it is a brilliant WikiProject so it woukd be a great help to my WikiProject. Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 10:43, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your support, an experienced WikiProject editor like you is a great help, could you please create a banner for talk pages of darts aticles, I have started one (Template:WikiProject Darts) but it is not great. Thanks, Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 10:04, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, the banner code has gotten very complex over the last few years. The one for cue sports has all of the relevant features turned on, so I'll just modify a copy of it. Setting up all the categories for it is the real time consumer. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 16:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your help, without you this WikiProject would be nowhere. Top Wikipedian! Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 19:10, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
I am working on the project page, in the background. I submitted a few tweaks, but the overhaul I've been doing in a sandbox. It would be cool if you did not modify the WikiProject Darts page much or at all until I'm done, as it would result in edit conflicts that might be difficult to resolve. I'm debugging a malware issue affecting my laptop right now, which is why I've not been very productive on the project page for a couple of days. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 21:27, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
On second thought, the stuff I've been doing is now so edit-conflicted that I can't easily merge it, and frankly, I like some of what you've been doing (I even imported some of it into WP:CUE. So, why don't you do whatever you want with WP:DARTS and let me know when you've hit a good stopping point, and I'll see about merging the best of both projects into one "project layout" or whatever we might want to call it. I would also like to import features from a number of other projects I've been keeping an eye on, including a more modular and columnar layout (cf. WP:GAMES for an example). I can handle that kind of re-working easily, but I'm interested in what else you want to do with WP:DARTS since some of the more recent changes at WP:DART have also suggested things that should be improved at WP:CUE and perhaps more broadly. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 06:12, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, but what have I done that was good enough to put into WP:CUE. Also are you still going to make the banner for WP:DARTS. Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 07:45, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
See edit history of WP:CUE. Heh. I liked a lot of what you did with the goals. Some other recent stuff I want to integrate too. And maybe some other editors at WP:DARTS have done cool stuff too (I haven't been hawk-watching the WP:DARTS history to see who's doing what). And yes, I'll take care of the banner, but really it isn't high priority. Just continue to tag relevant articles with the banner as-is. The banner's features can be extended with minimal changes to deployed cases. Typical usage: {{WikiProject Darts|class=Start|importance=Low}}}} (with different values like class=C or importance=High or whatever). Other parameters can be added later as-needed. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 08:53, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Take a look at this and make changes where you think neccesary User:Mr.Kennedy1/Sandbox/Template:Darts nav. I got the idea of making it when I saw the one on WP:CUE. Tell me what you think. Also, when I put the banner for WP:DARTS on the talk page of darts articles, it makes no difference if i put it in like this {{WikiProject Darts|class=Start|importance=Low}}}} or this {{WikiProject Darts}}}}. What way should I do it? Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 09:20, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

(outdent) I've split this into two topics (see below). — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 06:12, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Performance and rankings timeline for sportspersons

  Unresolved
 – No response from timeline table author yet (1 month).

I was looking at the 'Performance and rankings timeline' for Ronnie O'Sullivan and was thinking of copying and modifying it for darts players articles as the Darts player form template isn't that great. What do you think? Mr.Kennedy1 (talk) 08:50, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. I think it would be best if that code were made into a template, so it could be reused without having to paste and hand-edit boatloads of complex table code like that. I'll look into it as time permits. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 21:27, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
I've asked for the developer(s) of that performance table to get in touch with me about converting it into a generalizable template. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 01:06, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Tube

  Resolved
 – Malware (or stupidware) weirdness!

Hi. I'm not sure if you meant to include the links and space at the end here, but I've removed it for now. Also, I highly recommend 1clickyoutube downloader (firefox extension). It is the best of the many alternatives I have tried.

(However, youtube tweaked their code on July 21, and although the extension-developer fixed his code 3 days later, the moz people haven't reviewed that code yet, so you'll have to install the "experimental version 1.5" (linked at the extension page) or wait a few more days). HTH. :) -- Quiddity (talk) 22:01, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Definitely not intentional! Thanks for removing that. After installing the video downloader in question, every time I open a Web form, that crap appears in there, either because the software is flipping out, or it is outright malware. I'm going to have to remove it and restart my system. PS: Thanks for the tip. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 08:09, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Update: I've stopped the form hijacking, but its now hijacking windows (i.e. open something like my talk page, and after a few seconds it changes to a page at that malware's site). I hope to have that nuked pretty shortly. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 06:14, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Yikes :( Linux frustrates me regularly, but at least I don't have to worry about malware...
Also, the 1-Click firefox add-on has now been officially code-reviewed, so grab it from that main page. (Once you've got your system back in hand ;) Good luck. -- Quiddity (talk) 19:51, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
