editI have been using wikipedia for my project and research requirements for many years and had this feeling that I wanted to help out others the same way their effort has helped me, but coudnt really do it uptill now. Add to it the fact, that a lot of articles about India have very little info. Now since I have much more time available at hand I will be working on some articles related to India. Tell me what you feel about the Aravind Eye Care page. I will have to wait for four days to be able to upload pictures, I believe? Sachinj2013 (talk) 11:52, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

editHello, I'm Grayfell. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Vijay Shekhar Sharma have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 06:12, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Hi, can you point out which sections appeared to be promotional. Vijay shekhar sharma is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in India and I was surprised to see how little was written about him. I had referenced all material with multiple credible references and stated facts as much as possible - such as about his education and entrepreneurial work. Is mentioning that he completed school at age of 15 considered promotional? Would be great if you could help me understand it better - since I plan to spend some time updating wiki pages for many Indian entrepreneurs and startups. Also just to be clear I am not associated with paytm or VSS in any way.
Also is Business Insider considered a flimsy source? Wont make much sense to have a wikipedia page for a flimsy source right?
- Hello. I am glad to hear that you do not have a WP:COI in this case. Many flimsy sources have articles, often written by paid editors, which use flimsy sources, written by paid editors, etc. Having an article doesn't make a source reliable, but even so, WP:CONTEXTMATTERS. Business Insider is usable and is generally reliable, but that particular article was very poor quality, and was written more like a press release than a neutral example of journalism. Wikipedia is not a platform for promotion, or "business hagiography". If that source is used in a Wikipedia article, it should be used with great restraint and only for neutral content. Terms like "topper", "prodigy of sorts", "most popular success stories in the startup ecosystem" and so on, are WP:PEACOCK and WP:BUZZWORD terms. Even worse, they were directly lifted from the source, making that a WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASE, which introduces WP:COPYVIO problems. Terms like that sound impressive, but do not actually convey falsifiable information. For similar reasons, the awards section was inappropriate. What is Hurun's India's "rich list"? Without providing that context, it's promotional, but not informative. Do you see the problem? Grayfell (talk) 08:57, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
