accuracy
editHi, and thanks for your contributions. When you insert unsourced info please make sure that it doesn't look like it's sourced. For example, here the info should be placed after the citation not before the citation. Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Frequent additions of unsourced claims
editPlease do not add content without citing reliable sources. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Contact me if you need assistance adding references. Thank you. All of your contributions today have lacked references. Please do not add material to articles without appropriate sources. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for more information. GaryColemanFan (talk) 01:49, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- The page I linked to (Citing Sources) should explain everything, but here is a quick overview. Any time you add information that is not common knowledge, it needs a reference. The reference always comes after a punctuation mark (usually a comma or period). The reference is formatted with a template that includes the important information about the source (title, publisher, url and accessdate being the most important, although any other information helps as well). Taking your most recent contribution, it would be formatted as follows:
- Because the injury was misdiagnosed during the season, Hardwick continued to play and damaged the foot further. The full recovery estimated time is expected to take four to six months.<ref>{{cite web|title=Hardwick has foot surgery, could miss opener|publisher=Sign On San Diego|url=http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/chargers/20080321-9999-1s21chargers.html|accessdate=2008-03-21}}</ref>
- "cite web" is used because this is from an internet source, title is the title at the top of the page, publisher is the name of the company that published the information, url is the web address, and accessdate is when you read the information. Other information that could (and should, since it's easy to find) be added to the template is "last=Acee|first=Kevin|date=2008-03-21". In this case, last is the last name of the author, first is the first name of the author, and date is the date on which it was published. It does not matter what order this information is listed in within the template, as the template converts it to a standard reference format. The biggest thing to remember is to separate each piece with a "|".
- I hope this helps. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia, and feel free to get in touch if you have any more questions. GaryColemanFan (talk) 18:18, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Please do not add unsourced or original content. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.
I noticed that you are still adding unsourced information to articles. Any information needs a reference, so many of your edits will be reverted. Please follow the instructions I gave you (or ask for more help) if you are going to continue adding information. Thank you, GaryColemanFan (talk) 16:47, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

NFL edits
editIf a player gets released today it would be 2007 not 2008, for example you put that Jerry Bab played for the Packers from 2007-2008, when it should be just 2007 because he didnt play for the team in 2008, can you please fix them, also can you capatalize the F and A in free agent, thank you--Yankees10 02:11, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- thanks for fixing those--Yankees10 00:50, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

editHi! I'm curious why you've re-added non-sourced information that could be considered contentious to a biography of a living person. WP:BLP seems to frown upon this. Also, a sourced summary of this information is already in the article. Thanks! Rnb (talk) 22:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Your recent edits
editYou've been making handfuls of edits that are either irrelevant (lots of the Rotoworld stuff) and false (changing years). Don't change it to 2007 when a guy has only been on the team this year. The year is currently 2008.►Chris NelsonHolla! 21:47, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Tab Perry
editTab Perry was not outright released by the Dolphins, because you cannot just release a player after injury. Perry was waived/injured, meaning if he clears waivers he will be placed on the Dolphins' Injured Reserve list. He is unlikely to be claimed because so one claims a guy that's out for the season. The only way he won't be a member of the Dolphins is if he gets an injury settlement, but as of now that hasn't happened and he's destined for IR.►Chris NelsonHolla! 23:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

editHey, lovin' the edits. Just one reminder: when you're making new headings for an article (i.e. College career), make sure you only capitalize the first word - in other words, it should be "College career," not "College Career." Thanks! Pats1 T/C 18:47, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Copyright violations
editIt seems many of your edits from today are blatant copyright violations. They appear to be lifted straight from official team site bios. This was clear on a handful of articles you edits, like Terrence McGee and Antoine Bethea. You cannot copy-and-paste material from other websites as it is against Wikipedia rules. Just because you add some wikilinks to the text and shuffle a few words around doesn't change the fact it is plagiarism. That being the case, please stop making similar edits in the future. If you want to use official website bios as a source, put it in your own words and reference it.►Chris NelsonHolla! 01:33, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

editPer ESPN, the deal is still awaiting league approval as prominently stated in the title. Per WP:CRYSTAL, we don't overhaul articles for roster changes, when a transaction has yet to be completed. Thanks. --Madchester (talk) 17:44, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Dropped passes
editYou appear to be adding/modifying information inaccurately as it pertains to dropped passes by players in the NFL. Not to mention the fact that any information you're adding is done-so without providing any sources. As you'll see in the edit summary of Brandon Marshall, I provided a link by a reliable source, STATS, Inc. (which many sports websites and organizations use to gather their statistics), that disproves the content you were adding. If you feel the information you were adding was correct, then you need to provide a reliable source. If you would like to discuss this further, you can go ahead and respond on your discussion page, as I'll have it watched. -- Luke4545 (talk) 22:58, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well, there appears to be a conflict then of just which reputable source is correct. There have been NFL articles that have referenced statistics from both organizations (Elias and STATS, Inc.). Thus, I would say that unless there's another independent reputable source/organization that can confirm that particular information provided from either Elias or STATS, Inc., then that content shouldn't be added. Furthermore, the information provided in that ESPN blog doesn't have a direct link of verifiability to the Elias website, whereas the link I provided directly leads and shows you the stats in question from STATS, Inc. That's another reason as to why it would probably be more appropriate to not add that information unless another independent reputable source/organization can confirm it. -- Luke4545 (talk) 23:22, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
NBA Salaries
editJust some advice: remember to include a source when you change or add a players' salary. It doesn't have to be fully formatted, but we need something so we can quickly check to see if your additions are correct. Thanks, Zagalejo^^^ 18:30, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, but...
editHi, I appreciate you're hard work at articles like Edwin Harrison (beating me to it by mere seconds) but in January and February me and User:Chrisjnelson, agreed to a deal on who updates the player pages since we're two of the more common ones. And as you can tell from the discussions it was decided between the two of us that whoever updates the roster templates will update the respective player pages, however they only have a 30 minute window to complete the edits (unless a page needs to be created in which case it's an hour). If they don't complete it within the time period, anyone can make the changes. The reason I bring this up is because you seem to be an active editor in the player pages area, I figured it was a good idea to bring it up to you. Thanks and by no means does this mean I want you to stop, whether you agree or disagree it doesn't bother me at all. Again thanks and happy editing!--Giants27 (c|s) 01:42, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Haha, sorry kind of dropped a lot of info at one time. What I'm saying is that the current agreement is for the roster template updater (unless it's an IP, new user or in my experience User:Pats1 since he tends to not update the player pages) to have 30 minutes to edit the respective player articles if it goes over anyone can edit it.--Giants27 (c|s) 02:22, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's connected to the roster templates. Essentially, the assumption with us is that if you make the transaction on the team roster template, you're going to edit the pages of the players involved next. This way, we avoid edit conflicts by letting the person who first made the transaction edit do the rest of they plan on it.►Chris NelsonHolla! 02:25, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
When editing the roster templates...
editplease make sure to update the count and date. Also, please leave an informative edit summary such as "DE Stryker Sulak signed". Doing so allows other editors to not only know what you did but when a guy was signed or released if needed. Thanks!--Giants27 (c|s) 14:40, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Just happended again, please remember to leave the edit summary.--Giants27 (c|s) 23:17, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
We know what we're doing
editIf we add a guy to the roster template as waived/injured or we add it to their article, like with Roy Hall or Marvin Philip, we did so for a reason. We know how the process works, we're not making mistakes. Please check before making incorrect edits.►Chris NelsonHolla! 22:30, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

editPlease don't make edits of transactions here until they're actually reported. You've been around like enough, we shouldn't have to keep coming here.►Chris NelsonHolla! 20:28, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Salaries
editThanks for all of the salary information you have added to the various NBA player articles. You have not, however, provided any sources for this. I'd normally simply request the citation, but there appears to be a chronic issue here. I'm going to revert any of those additions to biographies; please feel free to re-add with an explicit citation. Thanks. Kuru talk 19:24, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but looking through some of your other recent edits, you still seem to be having rather serious problems with copyrights. Your additions to Le'Ron McClain, Corey Webster, and Danny Ware are cut and pastes from team sites with a few additional words thrown in. This also appears to have been a problem you have been warned about in very recent past. Please consider this a final warning on the topic; you will be prevented from making future edits if you cannot heed the advice given above. Kuru talk 19:43, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- He just did it again at Angelo Crowell. He's essentially copying news from Rotoworld and adding wikilinks.►Chris NelsonHolla! 21:12, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's too close to the same wording and in some cases it has been identical. Just because you re-type it doesn't mean it's not copyrighted. It's still plagiarism.►Chris NelsonHolla! 21:16, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- There are ways of writing to make it original, yes.►Chris NelsonHolla! 21:37, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers
editHi Saffi2k7,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
