Coordinates
editI had to make some changes to your very interesting List of monuments and memorials to Michael Jackson, rounding the coordinates. Google has taken to providing 16 digit coordinates in what is believed to be a copyright trap scheme. That level of precision is in the 1/100th of a micrometre range. Abductive (reasoning) 05:08, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
- Good day, I am happy to know that you found the list interesting. Thank you very much for rounding the coordinates. It was my intention to reduce the number of decimal digits in some coordinates so that it would be uniform with the coordinates that I had added with fewer digits, but I did not know about the ångström format. Thank you very much for the information and for improving the article. Salvabl (talk) 23:15, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Edit regarding Spanish
editHi Salvabl, I notice that you have been active in trying to add the Sahrawi Republic and Philippines as Hispanophone for the Spanish language article both on English and Spanish Wikipedias. I know you are exercising these edits out of WP:Good faith but please do not unilaterally add them onto the infobox *without* discussing. This has been an issue that editors have been dealing with forever on both editions of WP and to quote Jotamar from a while back, "is something that seems it will never go away." That being said, I have kept the Sahrawi Republic edit because it seems the admins on es-WP have been okay with it and the sources/proof of Spanish use and other partially recognized countries are also found on infoboxes of other languages provided that the content is backed and actual use of the language is present as we see with Russian language.
The Philippines is a much more complicated issue and every single time it's on here (plus Western Sahara), it opens the floodgates for anon Hispanistas to add places like Guam, Morocco, and Antarctica(!) as Hispanophone even though less than 5% of those places are Spanish speaking (or permanently inhabited in the latter) as was seen shortly after your edit. es-WP has made it clear that Philippines should not be added onto the infobox and until consensus is established to add it, it is best to leave it out. Yes, there is residual cultural impact but it's not *used* in daily life or administration like French is in Cambodia with diplomacy, the courts, media, or education in that country.
Furthermore, you say I'm defending the status of French in Maine. I did not initiate Maine having French as de facto but merely provided a source from the state government that fits the definition of it being so. If you disagree, please point out how the source I provided is not strong enough and I'll be happy (or another editor) to remove it from the official listing on the French infobox. Also, the state being highlighted on the map was a work of another user, maybe from fr-WP if I recall. Anywho, both languages have suffered from editors both anon and registered seeming to add countries onto there with even the slightest connection to said language like it's seemingly a competition even though in reality it's non-existent in public life or in government, which is what the infobox is supposed to reflect.
Building on that, I will respond to your inclusion of the Philippines on the Spanish language map on the Commons page. However, I believe this is the ideal basis, minus Western Sahara which as you said is a point of contention and no full coloring of the Philippines. You also keep changing the map on the Spanish language article on es-WP. That map is not accurate and I don't know if it was you or another user who changed it without discussing, but there was consensus to use the current map as on other WP editions. Maps should show a significant usage (>20%) and major cultural usage, not highlighting places where 5% or so speak a language as significant. (If you thought that was bad, you should've seen the French map from before this current one was adopted.) You have been civil in the few interactions that I've had and I hope it will stay constructive without unilateral undoings. Thank you. - Moalli (talk) 07:12, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Moalli. I would like to apologize for not replying to your message sooner; I have been really busy because of personal reasons. First of all, I want to thank you for your cordial and constructive tone. I agree with you that this is the ideal basis, minus Western Sahara. For that reason, I created this map in which I have recently unhighlighted Western Sahara, as Western Sahara is not the same as the Saharawi Republic. The mentioned map is the one I have added to the article of the Spanish language in WP-es and apparently it has been well accepted. However, there has not been a previous consensus for the use of this map, as there was not for the use of this other one. In any case, I am totally open to dialogue and to modify in the near future the current map in the Spanish Wikipedia article to unhighlight the Philippines and use a dot instead, as I think it is the most appropriate option. Salvabl (talk) 03:53, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Salvabl, I saw the map. Great work! Hopefully this will be the final rendition after so many edits back and forth (that is unless some other country adopts Spanish as official or a U.S. state sees its Spanish-speaking population surpass 20%). I just noticed one minor detail that should be changed. Spanish is not the majority native language in Equatorial Guinea. It should be highlighted the same color as New Mexico is instead. Now if only we could stop the unnecessary changes on the infobox from disruptive users both anon and short-term registered...Thanks again for your contributions. - Moalli (talk) 06:12, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- Good day Moalli, thank you very much for letting me know about the error, I will proceed to correct it immediately. I think that, after that correction, this map is accurate and may help to reduce conflict in the discussions from now on. Salvabl (talk) 11:10, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

January 2024
editYou currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Spanish language. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Jeppiz (talk) 20:49, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Burkina Faso
editPlease do not add English as a working language it’s only French ok Johnnynestor15 (talk) 20:39, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- Good day Johnnynestor15.
- English is one of the two working languages of Burkina Faso. Information about it can be found in numerous news sources, and here you can read the Decree Promulgating Constitutional Law No. 045-2023/ALT which establishes English as a working language of Burkina Faso. I have sent you a note about a page you started
editHi Salvabl. Thank you for your work on Dafing language. Another editor, Voorts, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Please remember to tag redirects that you create per WP:REDCAT.

- @Voorts: Thank you very much for your comment. I will keep it in mind for the future, as I plan to revise several African languages articles, and it is often necessary to create redirects for cases similar to the Dafing / Marka language. Salvabl (talk) 01:10, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

Hello
editThank you for all of your great work, it's much appreciated
Coldplay
editThe sources for Coldplay's 100 million state those are album sales alone, not albums + singles. What makes you think an act that sold 100 million albums and enjoyed success in the digital/streaming era, which is driven by individual songs, have not sold 100 million singles? GustavoCza (talk • contribs) 02:32, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- Good day GustavoCza. I have added a message on the List's Talk page. For now, I have not evaluated whether the sales figures under discussion are plausible or exaggerated for Coldplay because I think the discussion is in another stage right now, and it needs to be redirected in order be able to have a fruitful discussion. Spanish language Map
editHi, sorry if I'm wrong, but in your map on the Spanish language “Map-Hispanophone World.svg” the point corresponding to Easter Island (located in the Pacific Ocean to the left of Chile) is missing to be painted in blue.
