Adding people's names to articles
editYou've added a number of entries to Rabindra Sangeet which I've removed (leaving the references). That's because they didn't have articles. See WP:NLIST - as a rule of thumb, there should be an article establishing their notability first. Otherwise not only do such lists become unmanageable but also get used for promotional/advertising purposes. Dougweller (talk) 06:17, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hi - thanks for the email. If you'd just clicked on 'edit' on the right of the section heading you could have replied here, or if you'd clicked on 'talk' beside my name, you'd get to the talk page, then at the top click on new section.
- You've mentioned one of many pages which is a mess with people adding themselves, their friends, someone they just heard of, etc. Feel free to do what I did. We want to avoid Wikipedia being a source of anyone's fame (or of new ideas, etc, we are an encyclopedia after all). I apologise if I removed the name of anyone who already has an article. It gets worse when it's a religious article, caste, clan, or whatever, as we have a strict policy on biographies of living persons which you might be interested in, see WP:BLP. Have a great time editing. Dougweller (talk) 18:00, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
