Closure

Can I ask why you closed this as no consensus? The votes were 3-1 in favor of keeping, and the delete arguments were proven to be totally unfounded, with plenty of references found, including countless scores of newspaper sources, as I mentioned, from the newspapers.com database. I understand 'no consensus' is effectively 'keep', but I think it is important for its record, and for future AfD-eager editors to see. ɱ (talk) 22:16, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Ɱ, it's 3-2 including the nomination. And notability isn't something you can prove or disprove, it's a matter of editorial judgment and the assessment of sources, about which people often have different opinions in good faith. Both sides made valid arguments in this case, and so we have no consensus both numerically and in terms of strength of argument. Sandstein 09:04, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

The nominator didn't vote, so technically the vote tally is 3-1. Notability is something established through the presence or absence of reliable sources, that also determines whether an article should stay or be deleted. The deletionists had no valid arguments, simply stating they didn't see enough sources. It appears they didn't look very hard, e.g. checking Newspapers.com. I provided the evidence of significant sources that really washed away their single argument. Ɱ, in an AfD, there are no votes because it is a discussion, not a vote. But by definition whoever requests a deletion discussion wants the article to be deleted. That is our longstanding practice in closing AfDs. As to the arguments, there were disagreements about whether multiple sources should count as one, or are merely local; this is not for me to decide. That was a petty discussion the nominator fought against an editor providing multiple sources, that wasn't a valid reason for deletion. Again, that minor point of single vs. multiple is irrelevant when I found large lists of sources. ɱ (talk) 14:09, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

I disagree with you! In my opinion Mr. Sandstein is one of the best Admins, I learned a lot of things from him, he always help newcomers and encourage good contributions to Wikipedia, he doesn't encourage deleting the articles, in the other way, He encourage writing good articles according to Wikipedia notability guidelines. if you have problem in satisfying these guidelines, think about (writing a draft) and improving it a long the time (if the article topic is interesting and could be notable). if not just write about another topic. After another seven days have elapsed, an admin (not necessarily me) will re-assess consensus and close the AfD. It may take longer because there is currently a backlog at AfD. Mariolovr

I haven't yet looked to see if Mariolovr is RockingGeo. But RockingGeo is the first person who came to my mind after seeing Mariolovr at the Murder article and then following his contributions. I gave Mariolovr a chance to come clean on his talk page about not being new. So if he denies having had a previous Wikipedia account or explains his obvious editing experience away in some other manner, I will have to drop the matter until I have evidence regarding just what past account(s) he used. Article for deletion/Vehicular violence in the United States

Thank you for re-listing this discussion. I would value your advice. This article was viewed about thirty times daily until the person listing it for deletion eliminated internal links from more than twenty Wikipedia articles formerly containing links to the article proposed for deletion. Page views have dropped to about five per day following the edits eliminating those links. I am reluctant to mention this history in the discussion because it might be perceived as personal criticism, and I do not wish to engage in an edit war, but I am concerned the article may be regarded as an orphan without those internal links. Thewellman, the amount of links or traffic an article has is normally not relevant at AfD, so I don't really see how it might influence the discussion either way. If the article is kept, you are free to restore these links. Sandstein 15:40, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

The links were removed from the aforementioned articles because they either had nothing to do with the subject at hand or were already covered by existing articles that are more appropriate for the subject at had, e.g. vehicle-ramming attack. For example (in regards to the former), I don't see how a car bomb would be considered an act of "vehicular violence", especially if the car wasn't the weapon in the first place. Folly on my part

Hello... An error has occurred on my part regarding the withdrawal of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marina Karella. I closed the discussion as keep even though it had two deletion !votes. It isn't that I'm unaware of the Afd policy which states that discussions where del votes have been cast should run their course even if the nom wishes to withdraw. It's just that yesterday I was a bit frazzled as it is due matters on the personal front and it slipped my mind completely. It was a genuine folly of human endeavour for which I am regretful. A few hours ago one of the !voters who voted for deletion conveyed to me their intent to change their vote to Keep. A COI was posted to my talk page informing me that information had to be provided, I didn't see it until long after BookBlast was deleted.

Sandstein:Please can you intervene and ask Theroadislong to supply reliable and verifiable information that I was paid to edit 4 years ago. It seems to go against Wikipedia's guidelines about casting aspersions

These unproven allegations damage Bookblast and the founder MSs De Chamberet. especially since it has been engineered so that this and other accusations are now in the public domain.

This deletion happened over a period of a week 24/04/2020-01/05/2020 with no time given to modify the article, or to supply supporting references. Considering the country was in the middle of a pandemic, with some parts suffering more than others, it seems a little insensitive.

Lots of catch all and nebulous comments placed on my talk page by Theroadislong none are specific or point to a specific area of concern.
