If you wrote the material yourself, then there are several ways that you can make sure it does not get deleted here. For example, you could put a notice on your other web site that says that you release the material under the GFDL, so it can be used here without infringing on anybody's copyright. Or you can use an email address associated with the website to file a confirmation of your release of the material under the GFDL with our permissions department at "permissions at wikimedia dot org". You can look at Wikipedia:Confirmation of permission for some more instructions. You should in any case put a notice about the source and that you have permission to use the material into either a "Source" section of the articles or on their talk pages. I am sorry if this is a bit complicated and you have a hard time getting started here, and I hope this doesn't make you feel unwelcome. Copyright issues

Yes, welcome to Wikipedia. I strongly suggest you read up on our Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, specifically concerning copying copyrighted text. I had to delete a number of the articles you created because they were copied verbatim from other sources. Thank you for explaining the issue. If you own the copyright to the text you inserted, you can license the copyrighted text under the GNU Free Documentation License (see the link for info) and then post it on Wikipedia. Unless this is done the text is still considered copyrighted under our Wikipedia:Copyrights policy and we can't accept it. If you agree to do this, then go to Wikipedia:Successful requests for permission and place a statement that your organization agrees to the GNU license. Understand, though, that this means you are essentially giving up your copyright for the copy you have on your website. Here's the short blurb:

Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 or any later version published by the Free Software Foundation; with no Invariant Sections, with no Front-Cover Texts, and with no Back-Cover Texts.

A copy of the license is included in the section entitled "GNU Free Documentation License".

Linkspam

I also noticed that you inserted a lot of linkspam into different classical music articles (mainly to http://editionsilvertrust.com). Please refrain from doing this as it is against Wikipedia policies.--Alabamaboy 01:15, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

I, too, have noticed the apparent linkspam; You'll need to give some explanation: is the company, as implied, a charity? Can you give an example of info that is "not available elsewhere"? More importantly, why would this "Edition Silvertrust" be considered a *reliable* and neutral source of such info? Also, please disclose any relation you have to Edition Silvertrust; your additions may be a conflict of interest. Rolf H Nelson (talk) 07:00, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Articles question

I only undeleted the articles that I deleted. If you want to restore the missing info in those other articles you'll have to do that (and it's easy to do--simply go to the history page of that article, click on the link to the version you want, click edit when that version comes up and simply save it as the new version). Ambroise Thomas and GFDL material from Edition Silvertrust website

On 6 April 2006 you added some material to Ambroise Thomas, including the note:

Some of the material in the above article appears on the website of Edition Silvertrust but permission to copy, distribute and alter has been given to Wikipedia under the terms of the GNU License in accordance with the GDFL.

That just caught my attention because of the misspelling (GDFL vs. GFDL) but I was curious about the note itself. I can't find any reference to licensing terms either at http://www.editionsilvertrust.com/thomas-string-quartet-1.htm or by searching http://www.editionsilvertrust for "gnu", "license", "gfdl", or "gdfl". Was the permission given in private correspondence, and if so, what procedure does Wikipedia use to keep track of it? -- ToE^T 02:54, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
