Citations

edit

If you haven't seen this yet, please check out User:Diberri's Wikipedia template filling tool. Given a PubMed ID, one can quickly produce a full citation that can be copied and pasted into a Wikipedia article. This will save you an enormous amount of work and insures that the citations are displayed in a consistent manor. Boghog (talk) 22:27, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit summary

edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.

Hexosaminidase

edit

Hi. You have made some great additions to the hexosaminidase article, but I really don't understand this edit in which you reverted all my edits which I made in good faith to improve the article. The edits I made that you undid included:

  • ref reformatting which added PMIDs and DOIs that assist the reader in quickly finding the original literature article.
  • numerous internal wiki links, to assist the reader in understanding the article
  • information about a third hexosaminidase, HEXDC
  • various minor corrections to improve the readability of the article.

I encourage you to read WP:OWN. Each and every Wikipedia article is a collaborative effort. Boghog (talk) 22:50, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

In the spirit of collaboration, I have merged your improvements into my version in this edit. Boghog (talk) 23:22, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Section headings

edit

Please also read WP:HEAD. In short, section names should not explicitly refer to the subject of the article. Boghog (talk) 23:34, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello. These messages are created by the revert-function, and after reviewing your changes, it does not appear to be "vandalism". However, you indicated on the above user's talk page that the additions you made were your own work; please realize that wikipedia cannot accept original reserach in article. Please read WP:OR. Thank you. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 03:04, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for pointing out on my talk page my mistake. Please accept my humble apologies. And I did revert my changes back to your version. Also since this is an encyclopedia that works on some rules, like WP:NOTABILITY and WP:Reliable sources, please go ahead and find some trusted publications that contain your results and quote them. Please understand that otherwise not many people can verify if your research is correct or not. Thank you! Please have a great time with the most popular (and useful) encyclopedia on earth. --HappyInGeneral (talk) 09:56, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!
