(footballer) not (football)
editI refer to a page move you made to Scott Thornton (footballer) a few weeks ago. Unlike Ice Hockey, for soccer and Australian rules footballers, the preferred term is (footballer), not (football). NFL players tend to be labeled (football player). This is not based on any published convention, but on the >300 existing pages of Australian rules footballers with (footballer) compared to the ten or so with ((football). The examples on the WP:NCP page seem to back this approach using Cyclist, musician, politician and actor rather than cycling, music, politics & films. I am going to revert it back to stay with our common use convention. The-Pope (talk) 02:06, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

No archive?
editDon't you want a bot to archive for you? Otherwise, this page will be filled with headlines. Archiving is a great and better way to organize all messages here, making it easier, faster and more efficient for readers searching in the archives to find specific old messages or just want to read in through the whole archive and go back a few years maybe. I just want you to know that I just wanted to be nice to you. Thanks, /HeyMid (contributions) 09:16, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yup, I know about archiving. I just prefer to archive by hand, when the time comes. Thanks, though. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 19:56, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Don't "fix" links to redirects that aren't broken
editSee WP:NOTBROKEN, please. Just because we have an article on the political entity Heard Island and McDonald Islands, but we don't yet have an article on the geographic entity named Heard Island, doesn't mean links to Heard Island should be "fixed". Hesperian 05:19, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Hello fellow mover, please place the {{db-move}} template above the "#REDIRECT" magic line, not below it. Otherwise the redirect still works and will cause the attending sysop a moment of confusion. (From your usage in Gaspar Makale) Regards, Kimchi.sg (talk) 05:24, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

- Replied again FWIW, but we should just drop it :) Connormahtalk 07:06, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. I just don't like pointless messages (which is why I despise text messaging for the most part, since a call can resolve things much more efficiently). I tried to be ultra sarcastic, but the Internet does tend to rudify things. Sorry if you felt slighted. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 08:04, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Signature
editNot sure if it's been discussed with you before, but you're not supposed to have templates in your signature, and you use {{toolbar}}. Can you just render it with the plain code? Thanks, —fetch·comms 02:42, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- Fixed. Thanks! –Schmloof (talk • contribs) 09:21, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
