Re: Distances

I wouldn't use Google Maps for distances in articles unless I really had too since it's only a guide and not always correct. It's best to source distances from more reliable sources which infact state that distance but only use Google Maps when you can't find a distance for a location (which I think would be rare). 2009 vic bushfires death toll

Hi, yeah I was aware of that, but many sources claimed 210 even before that resident died in hospital, a strange anomaly. I wouldn't call Victoria Police a bureaucratic entity, I'm willing to wait until they confirm or deny such assertions. Nick carson (talk) 10:26, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

2009 southeastern Australia heat wave

Agreed. The royal comission and the BoM and the CSIRO and all those mobs are currently preparing such reports which will be big sources of factual complete information for us on these interrelated events.

I'm not sure the use of the term proximal cause is as clear cut as a term could be, I reckon something more like ...X & Y & Z & the heatwave, contributed to the conditions experienced on the 7th of February that led to the Kinglake Complex Firestorm etc. Nick carson (talk) 07:02, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
