Bkissin (talk) 21:10, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Speedy deletion nomination of Guardian Bikes
editHello Scruitineer,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Guardian Bikes for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
Surestop Brake Type
editI happened to a the delete of your article on the watchlist and happened to observe it my weird tangent way of thinking that the one lever controlling both wheels technology does not appear to be mentioned on the Bicycle brake article and there is a case it seemingly should (mind you they don't mention the old foot brake either). Is SURESTOP the relevant patented technology ... and might be the better name for the article, thought something like Bicycle single lever brake might be better (dont think there is a relevant article yet). This would possibly be of interest to Wikipedia:WikiProject Cycling. Not sure .. just random thoughts and I am aware of what people think about me and cyclists.Djm-leighpark (talk) 01:21, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
If perchance you have or know someone Guardian Bike it would be great if you could take a photo of it (without a person or an identifiable person) and upload to Wikimedia Commons .... (NB: If you do this turn off any GPS on your Camera if it is close to your home as it may be better not to have location information). Just on the offchance you could do this for your article. I Can't find any images with the required license currently. Thanks. Djm-leighpark (talk) 09:53, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
Guardian Bikes - explanation of deletion
editI can see from a recent question on on User talk:Sandstein talk page about the deletion of Guardian Bikes
I am going to assume you are a relatively inexperienced editor and did not fully understand the details and implications of what happened and the implications of not participating in the discussion:
- My theory of what happened:
- After making several small edits to Wikipedia you noticed Guardian Bikes with its unique technology was not present and you saw a chance for your first article.
- You correctly went through the Articles for Creation process
- Your Article was accepted as Article for Creation and moved to mainspace.
- Subsequent analysis has indicated the (good faith) acceptance at by the reviewer at Article for Creation was probably incorrect and what should have happened is the article should not have been accepted and left in draft with help as to how the article needed to be improved to be accepted.
- Your article was nominated for speedy deletion, that speedy deletion was reviewed by an administrator and deleted.
- While I personally believe that was a poor choice of action when other options were possible ...I also believe it was technically correct.
- The user who nominated your speedy deletion appears now to be blocked for misuse of Wikipedia ... but his nomination for speedy deletion was technically correct and was cross checked by an administrator in good standing
- Following your challenge to that administrator the article was restored and listed an Articles for Deletion
- You were informed of that and a link was provided for you to participate, however for whatever reason you chose not to particpate.
- The result of that discussion, which had no support to keep the article, was delete.
- There were some other issues which could be overcome by article improvement, but in my option the problem the key issue was the article topic does not currently meet Wikipedia's notability criteria ... this can be judged extremely strictly for brands/commercial companies. I'll cover that later.
- You have now done the appropriate thing by (beginning to) discussing the situation with the deleting the closer.
- They have suggested if you wish to continue with the article to recreate it bearing in mind the arguments at the discussion.
Now I will caution at this point that I have done extensive searches on Guardian Bikes and we are probably short one or two top dollar cast iron references that would be accepted. The issues with the existing ones are arguably:
- The article was a re-hash of a press release .... usually indicated by 'xxx from the company said....'.
- The publisher was not top quality
- Reference could be described as a blog.
- The review was a paper review ... not by an expert testing a physically Bicycle. This is a key difference between a Bikeradar reviews for the Islabikes and Guardian Bikes .. the former confirmed test of a physical bike.
If your wish to continue with the article recreate it in your user area or at draft .... .... please let me know if you do as it may be necessary to but certain things on the talk page to help stop it being deleted. I am almost certain you will need to wait for a really good reference to come along before re-submitting the article however it is reasonable to prepare in draft. It may be worth looking at say Islabikes for an example of a similar article that might survive deletion and hopefully would not be regarded as over-promotional.
If your look at my contributions you may notice I have a couple of drafts that I might develop that mention the technology.
I hope this may be of some help. Please be aware some may disagree with one or more points I have written above and some people have good reason to think of me as mud at the moment. Thankyou.Djm-leighpark (talk) 22:17, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
