Undisclosed paid editing
editHello Sean Gallen 88. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Leaps by Bayer, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Sean Gallen 88. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Sean Gallen 88|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:15, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Answer
editApologies for the misunderstanding. I stated clearly in my first interaction the nature of my connection with the subject and the person who responded thanked me for making that clear. I misunderstood that to mean my affiliation was transparent and missed the official tag. I am writing for Leaps by Bayer on behalf of TLGG. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sean Gallen 88 (talk • contribs)
- Thank you for clarifying. I have added the
{{connected contributor (paid)}}
tag to the talk page of the draft article as well. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:20, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Answer
editThank you for your support. Should I resubmit the draft or is it being processed? Thanks again, Seán — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sean Gallen 88 (talk • contribs)
- The last comment on your draft was from July 30. The reviewer said: "Notable investments" is the prime example of advertisement. Please take a few minutes to read What Wikipedia is NOT. It is likely to be rejected if resubmitted with zero or minor changes. You will need to edit the draft again to address these concerns before resubmitting it. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 13:47, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- I removed the "Leaps by Bayer" section you posted below because it serves no purpose here. Your paid editing disclosure has already been made on your userpage, and doesn't need to be repeated on your talk page.
- I will tell you right away that both the WSJ Partners and Bloomberg sources won't be considered reliable; the WSJ content appears to be paid content produced by your company, and the Bloomberg profiles are generally considered to be based on company press releases. Please understand that we have no interest in what your company wishes to say about itself. We care about what other reliable sources with no vested interest in your company have chosen on their own to publish about it.
- Also, please sign your posts on talk pages, so that your signature and the date and time of your comment will be automatically inserted. It is important to identify who said what, and when. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 13:47, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
