Beaver Stadium

edit

Hi Sebas87, I saw that you uploaded an image of Beaver Stadium. I'd like to verify that the image is properly tagged -- namely, do you know who took the picture, and if they said it could be used for any purpose? I'm planning to get a picture of Beaver Stadium soon, which I will license with the creative commons license, but if that image just came off of a website (I seem to recall seeing it before), then it's not acceptable for use here unless the person who took it agreed to release it. --Spangineeres (háblame) 03:53, 30 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sebas87!

I would like to take the picture for the german article. For that reason I need to know under which licence the picture has been released. The problem is that in the german wiki it is not allowed to integrate pictures under the fair use licence. That makes it hard to find good pictures.

G'day Sebas,

I notice you've been uploading a lot of football-related images to Wikipedia. Now, the images look absolutely fantastic, and we always need more photos for football-related articles. However, I'm not sure we're allowed to use them.

Any images not in the public domain must be in one of two categories to be usable on Wikipedia: free (that is, compatible with the GFDL) or fair use. Really nice-looking photographs belonging to news agencies probably don't qualify for "fair use" in this instance, and you've provided no evidence that the images are free. News agencies have been known to get upset with people who violate their copyrights; if you can't provide evidence that we're allowed to use this images, they'll be deleted in no more than seven days from now.

Cheers, fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 14:49, 14 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Ronaldo7.jpg

edit

This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ronaldo7.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Qwghlm 13:02, 14 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:06039AD.pdf

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:06039AD.pdf. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. In particular, we need the link to the exact page at http://www.naco.faa.gov/ where that PDF can be downloaded from, so that its public domain status can be verified. Thanks! License tagging for Image:Frings torsten08.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Frings torsten08.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Fabio Aurelio's Height

edit

I notice you reverted my revert earlier, with no explanation, so I've made a post on the Fábio Aurélio talk page, documenting why the height should be listed as 1.78 m. Please read it, and post your conflicting sources so we can determine which number we should go with. For now it should stay as 1.78 m. Cheers, aLii 15:15, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Owenpuma.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Owenpuma.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - Proto::type 14:18, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Argentina-boca-juniors.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Argentina-boca-juniors.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Argentina-boca-juniors.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Argentina-boca-juniors.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:30, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
